well at the moment i want to host it on a free external webhost such as 000webhost.com as it needs to be up and running in a day or two and im sure doing it this way is a quick and easy job. BEsides, hosting it internally at this stage will be impractical as i will then have to keep my computer on 24/7 for it to be available. What i want to know is, i have a webhost that does PHP and MySQL that i want to get it running on but again i dont know where to start haha. Cheers

Hello, is there any way to limit the number of times a SCORM complient quiz can be taken in Moodle? Heres the scenario: 1) have created a VLE in Moodle 2) have uploaded SCORM quizzes done using Articulate Quizmaker 3) have set the number of attempts to only one using the settings offered in Moodle 4) Still allowing them to have as many attempts as they like while the score is overwritten in the gradebook

Hello, i have nearly finished developing a Moodle VLE using the windows XP installation package. Is there any way i can host this using a free website hosting service? As i have used the packages as opposed to a manual install does that prevent it from being able to be hosted in this way? Cheers

Moodle - Assigning roles to course catagories
Half-Dead posted a topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
When a student user currently logs onto my VLE, he is greeted with the courses he is enrolled on and when he clicks "see all courses" button he is then shown a list of all courses (catagory hiarachy & courses). However, there will be other courses on there that i dont want him to be able to even see on this page, is it possible to filter this out in moodle so that he only sees the courses that he is concerned with and nothing else. Can this be done by hiding catagories to roles in moodle? so like you can only see a catagorie and its contents unless you are in this role or this and this role etc. Cheers -
Hello, i have recently set up a moodle to teach a course. I have installed and themed my moodle page but what i really want to know is, is it possible to display widgets such as activities, news, upcoming events & recent activity without enrolling on a course? When the user logs on (not an administrator), he is straight away given a list of courses and tier'd catagories. On this page he is also only given the calender widget. All the activities such as news, upcoming events & recent activity is shown in course view when he has enrolled. Is it possible to not have all the activities, news, upcoming events & recent activity in course view but have them on the page when they first log in, along with the tier course hiarachy. Cheers in advance

Im preferably looking for about 4 hiarachial tiers but i dont know if moodle will do this. Module Units Learning blocks The development of casting Other chunk of work 1 Other chunk of work 2 Like that haha. Cheers, its been driving me crazy for about a week now haha (as i am a noob to moodle)

As some of you may be aware, i am in the process of creating a Moodle VLE System for a company to effectively teach a BTEC qualification. What i want to know is, can you create course hiarachy's in moodle? Preferably it needs to go something like this: Course Title: BTEC Award In Engineering Module(s): Health & Safety etc In each module, a series of units. Unit: H & S in the foundry etc Then in each unit, a series of work topics Is it possible to achieve this type of hiarachy in moodle, if so how is it done? sorry, i am a moodle noob Thankyou in advance

Hello guys, i have just bought an 8GB ipod touch this weekend. Its all good only i have one problem that is annoying the hell out of me . That is, when i have created a playlist in itunes, added songs to it and syncronized it with the ipod i find that on quite a few albums, the tracks will not play in album order . Normally this is not a problem but when listening to progressive rock or live albums then the track order does matter. I have set the track numbers, album titles and artists in the ID3 tags of every file and it displays in the correct order on itunes. As soon as i sync with the ipod, i find that some albums are ok while quite alot are listed in the wrong order. The ipod is set to list by album on the pane at the bottom (on the ipod). Im baffled on this one. Cheers in advance for any feedback Take care Richard

How is that even legal? what they appear to be doing is taking an important feature off the phone and charging normal cost for it. They should at least offer it at £150 cheaper if they are going do shite like that.

Yeah, thats what one would think. I still think he is babbling on but doesnt know what hes on about. Although it wouldnt at all suprise me if 02 was to deliberatly disable wi-fi on their firmware to prevent internet access through your own or any free services so you have to connect to this cloud thing.

Hello guys. First of all, I am looking for a new mobile phone but dont want to go on contract or pay more than £200. This is where it gets tricky, i want GPS & Wi-Fi as well as a reasonably good camera. I walked into the o2 shop and asked if they had any phones on pay as you go with these features. He said oh... no, if you want wi-fi you have to go on contact. I thought a bit... oh well . I appreciated it because of the rip off prices of mobile phones at the moment with this type of features. Then i asked him if in the future he knows if any of these will be on pay as you go... he said no because if you want your wi-fi to work you have to get a special sim (contract). I said why, i mean if it was one of these BT cloud networks where you have to pay then i get yer but what abouts when i connect to my own wi-fi router running in my house. He said ohh.... no... on a normal pay as you go sim your wi-fi will not work... Period! I said why and he said.... well.... o2 needs money too you know. you dont think you can get internet on your phone free do you? (even if its your own router/connection) I looked at the guy a little strange as if to say... thats shit! you dont know what the heck you are on about! haha. But... thinking about it now, i have realised that 02 may have one of their own stupid locks to disable your wi-fi transciever if you are not on contract. Is this true? if i get a sim free or 02 pay as you go phone will i still be able to use my Wi-fi feature on my phone free of charge, even if its in a pub that offers internet access 100% free from their connection without having the damn thing unlocked??? (as it may be a problem at the moment because these phones are quite new... like the C905 or experia etc). Cheers for your feedback guys, i know this may sound like a really noob question. If it is true, 02 are shits & if it isnt true then that guy dont know what hes talking about and shouldnt be a salesman!

having looked on moodle.org i have found that there is tons of information on how to configure and administer moodle. What i want to know is, is this the most sophisticated? do other VLE systems provide this kind of instant support? I know with blackboard theres some consultancy service that you have to subscribe to before getting the support. Cheers
