I want to make a new template to see some exam board aspects eg entries or results. But none (none!) of the exam board aspects are in the 'browser' (chooser) to choose? I know the aspects exist becuase if I go to build a report I can see them eg AQA 7132 entry etc. Why / how are they all missing from my template section? I'm at a loss.

yeah thanks. It's actually quite problematic. Some staff have left / returned so have more than one starting and leaving date etc. it's quite problematic. Also there's the ticked for SWR or not thing. As an example the attached screenshot shows who was employed before 31/05/2021 but left after 31/05/2021. So you would think they are no longer here, but these (few) people are still employed, because they have returned. at some point. It illustrates the difficulty; their current date of leaving is empty. I can do it I'm just putting this up to show any future people who search some things to be aware of. It would be a thousand times easier if sims had some method like school report for pupils where you could just look to see who was employed on a certain day.

I need to know how many staff we employ (today), and how many on same date last year. I can't seem to do this - how can I add a date ie 'employed on' a certain date so I can simply see how many staff we have employed at different times? I have searched the many imported reports and can't seem to find anything useful.

in sims you can put #a to search for address or partial address eg #a downing street etc. Is there any way I can use this homepage searchbox to search for email addresses? I know you can type help in that box to get a list of other shortcuts. As I can't find a way which is exceedingly annoying edit. To answer my own question you also use #a for email address. eg #a [email protected] will find them.

How can I see from within sims (ie while logged on) if Consolidated Workstation Patch 2 has been installed or not? So if I click on Help>About or System Information it doesn't tell me? Reason I'm asking is because it was deployed to all targets and has worked, but on one machine the user is having some issues and I wanted to see if this has been installed yet or not. But I cannot? ok thanks. I've passed it on to my IT network manager. Yes I had already tried to look at the logs but for some reason access to that NetworkService folder is denied! but I've given him the location and name of the logs so I'm guessing he will be able to see. Odd how we upgraded (both sims and discover) to spring release on eve of 19th April, and last discover transfer was 21st april. Seems strangely close.

hi I have this problem but mine is not due to group name; I've been going round in circles a bit can anyone help? In my sims discover administration utility>Manage data transfers> under Status it says "Transfer Requested - waiting for service..." I can and have been to windows services and 'started' both Sims Discover Group Synchronisation Service as well as SIMS Discover Data Transfer. I have been to Task Scheduler and run both 'Discover.SQLUserManager.Console' and 'Discover.Warehouse.TriggerConsole'. I seem to be going round in circles but I can't get discover to refresh (and therefore for a new dynamic group to show in sims>Focus>Groups>Discover Groups). So I feel like I am running them in the wrong order, I just need it to transfer because I need this discover group to show in sims. Anyone help? I don't understand why the transfer status is requested - waiting for service...? (By the way actually in sims discover if I click on the little 'i' button top right it says last successful data transfer was 21st April 01:14am. So nothing since, despite my best efforts this morning!)

More aggressive strategy? Does this mean schools that don't have to migrate for the extra 6 months can't update to spring release? Or is everyone that is leaving already having to leave before that? I thiought some had gained an extra 6 month window?

Hi, how do know if I have already SIMS ID? Cant' get any answer from ess. I think SIMS ID would sync sims to our AD? And is it a paid-for service. I asked them "How does SIMS sync with Active Directory?" They replied

Here's the one I found, I'm just can't remember where I found it. I will also import the schoolicts ones from above and see what they're like. Because this website won't allow the proper file type to be uploaded I've changed the file extension to "zip". After you download, do not unzip it - you need to right-click and edit file name, and change the extension to "RptDef". So it will be called "Absence Between Dates Staff.RptDef" Then you can import to your sims Absence Between Dates Staff.zip

I did find one, someone else had made & I think I imported it. I’ll have a look tomorrow and see if I can export it and add it here so you can download and import it. Not sure where I found it.

I find the SIMS user permissions impossible to work with. I have wasted too much time trying to find out which blooming permission gives a particular user access to certain things. Why is it so bad? Why is there no proper documentation (or is there?) - I have the permissions excel sheet but that is not sufficient. Latest example: I want to make a user group to allow some staff to see Staff Code. A colleague with various permissions can see this, (without being able to see all & sundry) and another cannot. But I cannot ascertain which permission grants access. I have put the them in and out of various groups but I can't narrow it down & it's stupid. It's not Staff>Basic Details> View (all) It's not Personnel>P7 Field Trial Is it Staff>Professional>View (all)? [but if so, then the problem is I don't know what else they might see?] Edit Actually I'm thinking it might be Staff>Personal Information>View (although then I don't know what else they might be able to see) So am I missing something. Or if you don't know the ins-&-outs does anyone at least know which permission will allow Staff Code to be seen but not other sensitive data eg absences? So 'Personnel Events Officer' group is no good.

While I wait for help from ESS any ideas? Our AD creates accounts for new pupils going on roll, but I don’t know how it gets the info. Is there any particular way to find out? I don’t think we use sims ID but can’t log on to it anyway (I can login to admin.sims using single sign in (we use Gsuite) but not the sts or id.sims site).

Hi I've searched the programme file folders in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server for both ArchiveAttMarks.exe and ArchiveAttendanceMarks.exe (which I've also seen mentioned) and can't find hide nor hair of them. So before I can even create the task scheduler, should I need to be able to find that first? Where do I get it from if it's not there?

true but there must be a hidden bit somewhere! long shot but have a look at below. Right-click the 'Pastoral Structure' and see if there are any old tutor groups there (I have none there FYI ie no old ones at all): In the relevant year, right-click the Registration Group/Class folder and select Reuse Old Registration Group/Class from the menu to display the Reuse Old Registration Group/Class dialog. Highlight the required Registration Groups/Classes individually and click the OK button each time, to add the selected registration groups back into the school's current Pastoral Structure.

I just ran mine to look, and all mine match. Even for Y12 and 13 where we have changed names compared with the past. So I think somewhere you haven't changed both 'bits' of whatever has to be changed when naming reg groups. Maybe try looking in sims documentation for how to change reg group names, and see if there is an extra step somewhere in the pastoral side that hasn't been done. Are you right-clicking the reg group, clicking 'properties' as per my pic and seeing the same?

Mine is proving not very reliable. The Task Scheduler on my PC appears to running it correctly at the times I've set as triggers. But many times there is no upload to the parentpay website (when I look at the Uploads history). Does anyone else have that? ie some days there's simply been no upload (it's not there as Failed). It's very random but I would say less than 40% are being uploaded.

not at my sims at the mo but I would open exam organiser module. From there you can do (I think menu route is) Reports>Export results (bottom choice) and then you can select various parameters like the season, or all seasons, and which cohort like a year group or all internal candidates etc and export to csv

yeah I see. But exactly- who could risk handing notice in now when you haven't yet had a chance to properly investigate the alternatives, it would be too rushed.

I assumed it would be 31st December same as with their enhanced support agreement? In fact while writing this I just checked the terms and conditions: so 90 days prior to 1st April is 31st December, same as if you want to leave the support agreement. Just a heads-up
