Not all cats hate them.

I can think of quite a few reasons why not but can't really discuss them here. On a tangent, I recently played "Detroit: Become Human" and was struck by how cheap the androids were. The base model seemed to be around $3k (though there seemed to be some, possibly second hand, models for <$1k) with fairly advanced ones being c$9k. Although most people seemed unemployed, lots of people owned androids. As far as I can tell, protagonist Kara cost her owner less than a new Roomba S9+!

Make that two didn't get the profile or apps with one still awaiting configuration.

The School for Good and Evil (Netflix) Two girls are outcasts in their village. Sophie dreams of being a fairytale princess while Agatha just wants to not be hated for her alleged witchcraft and ugliness. When Sophie wishes to go to the eponymous school, where princesses, princes and villains learn their craft before becoming stars in their own stories, both girls end up at the school. But things aren't quite as they seem. Very teeny, and fairly watchable but very predictable.

Anyone having problems with Link to Windows today? My phone has just lost all my linked devices and won't connect to the one in front of me. Wondering if it's connected to these problems.

If you do a Google search for "lightspeed dfu reenroll" this thread is now the second result. Fame at last! So, what's been happening since my last post? Still no cache server, mainly down to cost and my reluctance to throw good money after bad as I am beginning to hate these things more with every passing day. Current problems: Loads had "disappeared". Got most of them back by marking them "lost", but after marking them "found" it took days for them to show as viable. A teacher finally agreed to test the new setup. Wiped/DFU'd four. Days later, one has got the new profile but has yet to receive apps. One didn't get the profile or apps. Two are still awaiting the configuration. Pushing out a new app seems to have failed (this was one of the few things that was working well). Mind you, there was already an installed app with the same functionality. One app has decided to briefly open and then close. Clicking on "add response" in the SeeSaw app throws a "The operation couldn't be completed. No such file or directory." But not consistently. Sometimes it does "just work". Gonna be trying Mosyle soon, but not holding my breath!

Glad to hear it's more efficient than the translator they used which includes gems like: At least it looks like it's Windows 11 compatible.

My schools use Fundamentals for their Chromebooks, but don't have "pupil" tablets. Don't have to use it much, though. The only other MDM I have experience of, I'm beginning to hate. (Lightspeed for iPads).

You mean, "The Golden Globe winning and Oscar nominated RRR". Admittedly for "Best Song". My favourite bit of music from the movie is in one of the trailers. Wish they'd release an extended version and not just a lazy "full audio snipped from the trailer" version. On Oscars, Everything Everywhere All at Once is nominated in an amazing 11 categories. Was shocked to learn the below, though (not the qualifier about Merle Oberon): Although I wasn't taken by the movie, I kinda hope it wins in all categories so that they can market it as Everything Everywhere and All the Oscars All at Once.

Some of us have always done that . Re backing radiators. I'm sure I read an alternative theory that heating the wall prevents damp problems and the warmer bricks help prevent such a rapid "cool down" when the radiators are off.

Agree completely. But then, I don't tend to like films where the protagonists are mob bosses. Never understood the Godfather/Shawshank wars on IMDb though, having checked, things seem to have settled down now with the latter slightly "ahead" on scores, but way ahead on votes cast.

Finished 3 series, possibly 4 of late. Willow (Disney+) is the possible as it has yet to be renewed. It was fun, but the teen-speak came over as anachronistic to me. I'd watch Season 2, but wouldn't cry if it never happened. I think I'd be more interested in the adventures of Boorman. Treadstone (Amazon Prime). Bourne spin-off. Entertaining BUT very much "Book 1" of a now-cancelled series. There is some sense of an "ending", but the final ep sets up loads of never to be resolved cliffhangers. Kim's Convenience (Netflix). Sitcom based around a Korean family where the parents run the eponymous store. One of those gentle comedies that comes in handy for those times when you don't want to go to bed quite yet. Season 5 feels like they knew there would be no Season 6 and, while things are left open, it definitely feels like it's a series closer. The son (Simu Liu) is now Shang Chi and I suspect that may have had something to do with the show ending. The Witcher: Blood Origins (Netflix). I seem to be in the minority of people who actually liked this. If nothing else, as much as Henry C "made" the main show, at least no-one in this had such dodgy hair.

Spotted a reasonably priced drive and installed it in my HTPC (as I'm unlikely to be get a PS5 any tine soon and wanted to avoid yet another box), however playing discs does not seem to be easy! I've followed various tutorials on using VLC without luck and was hoping someone could recommend something that will actually play 4k discs. At the moment it looks like Cyberlink, but I don't really want to spend £55 when I don't want most of its functionality. Most others I tested were OK with standard Blu-ray, but required Premium to play 4k, which I don't mind as long as it actually works. Anyone used Gom Player Plus, which is at least reasonably priced?

Not experienced it, but my suspicious mind wonders if a pupil has IR on their phone or similar. Any easy to say but hard to implement solution would be if the staff used "extend" rather than "duplicate".

Slumberland (Netflix) When she is orphaned and sent to live with her uncle, a young girl finds that her dreams take her to Slumberland, where she may be able to see her father again. This is very loosely based on "Little Nemo in Slumberland", my knowledge of which was limited to it being an old comic strip about a young boy, the creator's name and there being a walking bed (most of this from being featured in an issue of "Sandman"). Apparently the Flip character also features in the strip, but doesn't look like Jason Momoa and has a different "origin story". Not a bad film, but a too frenetic for adults and probably too long and possibly too scary for little 'uns. Still, the young girl shows great promise for her future career and, had this made any impact, the pig could have made a small fortune as merchandise*. *If they had produced one that looked like it rather than the poor copy they released.

Finally got to see the first ep of "The Last of Us". Very well done, and kept up the tension despite me knowing what was coming (well, vaguely remembering - it's been a long time).
