Who ever heard of the truth spoiling a good joke? I just copy n' paste

This made me chuckle. ------------------------------ When choosing the name of a web site it pays to be careful. These are actual web sites where the owners have not really been paying attention. 1. Who Represents is where you can find the name of the agent that represents any celebrity. Their Web site is whorepresents.com 2. Experts Exchange is a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views at expertsexchange.com 3. Looking for a pen? Look no further than Pen Island at penisland.net 4. Need a therapist? Try Therapist Finder at therapistfinder.com 5. There's the Italian Power Generator company, powergenitalia.com 6. And don't forget the Mole Station Native Nursery in New South Wales, molestationnursery.com 7. If you're looking for IP computer software, there's always ipanywhere.com 8. The First Cumming Methodist Church Web site is cummingfirst.com 9. And the designers at Speed of Art await you at their wacky Web site, speedofart.com

Actually, what an awesome site. I just roffled and dribbled a bit (no idea) at this story: The Daily Mash - 'LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THIS F*CKING RAT' SAY ZOOLOGISTS -

ROFL!! -
Personally, i wouldn't buy shoes online without being able to see, hold and try 'em on first, so i certainly wouldn't buy a car without being able to kick the tires, fiddle with the buttons, etc. As mentioned, you may indeed get yourself a bargain though. Have to weigh up the risk i suppose.

I've been in my new place for about 2 months and i think i must have been one of the last people to get a 100% mortgage. I don't think such a thing even exists anymore. We were touch and go for a while after getting an offer accepted then trying to get a mortgage. Our mortgage advisor said that mortgages were being pulled literally by the hour, so we ended up going to find our own. I'd hate to be buying now. Mind you, it's a buyers market with prices coming down, as long as you have cash and don't need a mortgage, but how many people are in that position...?

Hope you've been using the Flashback feature to rewind the action and try again then When starting out, i set the difficulty on Normal or Basic, so you get a good 4 or 5 Flashbacks per race to undo the muck-ups, whoever's fault they are I'm starting to get ballsy and ramp up the diffculty level, which boils down to less Flashbacks for when it all goes tits-up. Focuses you somewhat Get the PC demo here

Anyone got this? Played the demo on Saturday morning on the PC and immediately went out to buy it. Have been thrashing the arse off it all weekend It's so much fun - it makes Gran Turismo look like train spotting! The damage modelling is a thing of beauty - Damage showcase videoYes, that's all in-game footage. It almost makes you want to total your car to enjoy the replays... The game centers around you, as a rookie driver, setting up a racing team. You get to name the team and choose the colours and designs for your cars. Then you need to earn money to fill your garage with cars that allow you to compete in certain races. There are various events - so far i've thrashed big US muscle cars round New York and San Francisco, raced open wheel one-seaters round Donnington, drifted jap tuners sideways down a mountainside road, and hurtled GT supercars through european racetracks. There's oodles of variety, and what can only be described as arseloads of cars to buy. I recently bought an Aston Martin DBR9 for just under £1 Million to compete in the end-of-season Le Mans event Probably the prettiest game i've played, even on my mediocre system. Highly recommended. Here's a video of a Destruction Derby, which is an absolute hoot. Again, yes - all in-game footage.

A man wakes up in hospital, bandaged from head to foot. The doctor comes in and says 'Ah, I see you've regained consciousness. Now you probably won't remember, but I'm afraid you were in a pile-up on the motorway. You're going to be OK, you'll walk again, everything seems to be OK, but there is a bit of bad news and I'm going to break it to you as gently as I can. Your willy was chopped off in the wreck and we were unable to find it.' The bloke groans but the doctor goes on, 'We've checked your insurance and you've actually got £9,000 compensation coming to you and the good news is that we have the technology now to build you a new willy that will work just as well as your old one, better in fact. But the thing is, it doesn't come cheap. It is one thousand pounds an inch.' The bloke perks up a bit at this. 'So it's a simple decision,' the doctor says, "you need to decide how many inches you want. But it's something you'd better discuss with your wife. I mean, if you had a five inch willy before and you decide to go for a nine inch willy now, she might be a bit put out. But if you had a nine incher before and you decide only to invest in a five incher now, she might be a bit disappointed. So it's important that you consult with her to help you make the decision.' So the bloke agrees to talk with his wife. The doctor comes back the next day. 'So' he says, 'have you spoken with your wife?' 'I have.' says the chap. 'And has she helped you to make the decision?' 'Yes, she has' he says. 'And what is the decision?' asks the doctor. 'We're having a new kitchen.'

Happy birthday Das Geek, hope you grow up to be big and strong. And well done to the parents and uncles for keeping the little blighter on the straight and narrow.
-
Yep - let's all bear in mind that at best he's not helping things, and at worst he's sending this island down the crapper.
-
To a point yep. If you're over-revving in a certain gear at a certain speed, then shift up to lighten the load. But you can, as far as i'm aware, start causing damage to your engine, gearbox etc by making it work too hard in too high a gear if the revs are too low. As for pulling away from stationary in 2nd or third, that's just lunacy.

A small suggestion: When opening many topics, for example the Windows one, my browser window (19" monitor @ 1280, window not maxed but taking up a fair amount of the screen) is filled with too much dead space at the top of the window. All i can see is the advert and the stickies! Allow me to illustrate if i may: The following screenshot is my browser window. I feel a lot of the space above, and perhaps below, the advert could be removed (as we have other indications of where we are). I think we could easily trim a good inch off that. My scrolling finger can't take it any more!

Not touching it for now, staying unapproved. I'll wait and see how other roll-outs go before i investigate!
-
Bloody hell, mental. What you driving? If i did 30mph in 5th, it'd be the transmission pushing me forward, not the engine - the revs would be far too low! (2 litre turbo diesel)

Yes Wikipedia entry on CoE. Not much about the 'ethos' though. This may be of more use or this

A bizarre first post, to be sure. More so due to the nature of this site...

Hello. As fuel costs continue to rise, it’s getting more and more expensive to run about in our beloved motors. The following are some bits and bobs I’ve picked up, as well as some common sense, that can be applied to make that tank of fuel last that wee bit longer. Don’t hammer the accelerator See the old lady in the micra you just thrashed away from at the last traffic lights? There she is right behind you again at the next lights. There’s no need to accelerate hard away from junctions, roundabouts and lights – chances are you’re going to have to come to a halt again soon. As a rule, the more you press the accelerator pedal, the more fuel you’re putting into the engine. You should never have to floor the pedal. This is opening up the throttle fully and putting as much fuel into the engine as possible. You’ll probably find that you can get similar performance by raising that heavy foot of yours slightly. Try it. Accelerating more gently than usual will use even less fuel, and I doubt you’ll notice much difference in your journey times, especially in traffic. Drive a little slower Driving at 35 or 40? Or 80 or 90 on the motorway? Sticking closer to the speed limit will use up less fuel, as you’re not putting as much into the engine. There are other benefits – you can stop quicker in the event of an emergency, and you won’t get stopped by the coppers for speeding. Avoid stop-start driving Tying the previous two points together – a smooth journey is a more efficient journey. If you accelerate hard away from a junction, then slam the brakes on again at the next, you’re throwing away all that built up speed and energy (while using up more of your brakes). Smooth acceleration and gentler braking will cause less fuel to be used up, and cause less wear and tear on parts. Obviously don’t drive like a blind/scared 90 year old, but y’ know… Close your windows on the motorway Cars are pretty aerodynamic objects (compared to, say, a double decker bus or skip). If you have your window open, you’re turning the aerodynamic shell of your car into a parachute, creating drag. This obviously means the car has to work harder to keep at your desired speed, as it’s fighting against more wind resistance. Use aircon as little as possible Air conditioning systems use fuel to run, so having this hammering away for your entire journey will use up even more fuel. If you're warm, open the windows! (unless on a motorway ) Obviously summer is upon us, so common sense is required to keep things at a happy medium between 'efficiency' and 'having a small paddling pool under your crotch'. We have a little battle here between aircon vs drag vs keeping yourself cool – apply common sense please. If you don’t have any, ask a friend. That roof rack box The one from your last trip? Is it filled with air? Objects like this affect your cars aerodynamics too, so take ‘em off if they’re not being used. Even worse if it’s full of crap. This goes for any extra stuff that you ferry about in your back seat or boot all the time, as you’re paying to carry around the extra weight, making your accelerator and brakes work harder to speed up and slow the car. Keep your car well maintained Bit of an obvious one this. A well-maintained car will run more efficiently than one that hasn’t had a service in a few years. Keeping oil fresh, changing filters and running on decent tires will all help a car run more efficiently, not to mention safely! Clogged up filters result in wasted power. Keep your tires inflated too – squashy tires are dangerous and inefficient. Avoid short journeys If you can, avoid using the car for piddly little journeys of a few miles. Walk it or bike it if you can. A cold engine uses more fuel than a warm one. And you might actually give your legs and heart a little exercise. Here endeth my blah-de-blah. Hopefully it'll be of use. Feel free to add your own tips and thoughts. Try and keep it constructive Happy driving!

From a design and sheer usability point of view, i like Play.com, although they've changed it over the last few weeks and i'm still getting used to it. Regarding flash sites, i f*cking hate them, for a multitude of reasons.
