I've long assumed that that's because American accents don't vary anything like as much as British accents do, and don't have much of a 'class' dimension to them in comparison. Heck, even Ewan McGregor doing a slightly different Scottish accent in Salmon Fishing in the Yemen sounds a bit off. American dialects are probably an easier target to hit, too.

Oh no! We set up a shared drive on Google where we place copies of any files sent off to exam boards, so that we have an archived copy in case of resubmissions being requested. They stay there until appeals and things are all done with for the year.

Looking at the user manuals for some of our projector models, +40C appears to be the upper limit for operable environment. Gonna be a fun couple of days.

In general, if you're wanting to add AppLocker rules for packaged apps such as the MS Store app but those apps aren't present on the machine that you're working Group Policy Editor from, you can go through the motions of creating such a rule on a client machine using secpol.msc (Local Security Policy). At the point where you've selected the packaged app and the various publisher and package fields for it have been populated, you can copy and paste those values out so that you can paste them into Group Policy Editor. In GPEdit you will need to pick some other packaged app first, so that you can to get to a point where you can paste in the desired values.

It's all our classroom projectors that I'm most concerned about. The last week of term is always a strain on them as it is, what with all the films.

I always ask to see a copy of the exam board's current materials submission guidelines for the particular qualification in question. They can be quite exacting about filename conventions, for instance, with different requirements for different qualifications year on year.

I think in some cases it comes down to the individual examiner at the other end sending the thing back to the exam board and saying "It doesn't work". I know we've had a few instances where we've had to provide some guidance directly to individual examiners about how to use 7-Zip to extract contents from a USB stick that we've submitted. THat was a few years ago now though, and all the exam boards that we deal with now stipulate the use of either BitLocker or 7-Zip when submitting a USB stick, and provide the encryption key to be used. With these SanDisk devices in question, were the contents encrypted with a bundled SanDisk encryption utility (i.e. the type that wants to autoplay when the the device is mounted)?

If your VMs get halted ungracefully and end up with corruptions, restoring them from a recent Veeam backup is preferable to having to rebuild them. That could be if the host crashes, or fails to suspend or shut the guests down properly when it's going for a reboot. Rebuilding DCs is a pain in comparison.

When I last used the free edition of Veeam B&R, it just let you do zip backups of VMs, with no option to schedule automatic backups or to do incremental backups. There were no application-aware restores of AD either (i.e. restore individual AD objects from a backup), being limited to restoring the entire VM. That may be enough to fit your needs, though.

I suppose if there were demonstrable complicity from the companies in how their products were being used, or if they were actively pursuing contracts to supply, that might have a bearing on it. But yeah, feels a bit above my paygrade and not like other 'responsible consumer' issues like fast fashion or single-use plastic cups.

Thinking about this, I suppose one argument might be that those companies have attained their market position through unfair (for want of a better term) means, and banning their use would then elevate competitors to redress that initial imbalance. It's no coincidence that that thought has come to me in the days following the Uber Files leak, and reading about how that particular company set out to unfairly achieve a dominant position in the market before then opining that the past is not the future.

Also, when printing from Chrome, expand More settings and select Print using system dialogue... (right at the bottom) to get the full-fat printing options. That ought to improve the chances of success.

On the financial websites in question, the user should try right-click > Save link as for the PDFs to download them for opening in Acrobat, rather than left-clicking and having Chrome's PDF viewer showing them. That's assuming that the PDFs are being presented as links, and there isn't some janky print function within the page getting in the way of that.
