Hi, Can anyone recommend a free utility for testing your broadband speed? I've tried a few websites, but they seem to all give different readings. one was telling me 4mb download speeds another was telling me just 1mb.

Morning all, Some of the kids have recorded footage from their GCSE projects on to a sony handycam dcr-dvd100e. I am trying to import the footage into Sony Vegas software as recommended by sony. It appears to import it ok, I can see the footage. But there is no sound. Files on the camera: VR_MOVIE.VR VR_MANGR.IFO VR_MANG.BUP Do i need to convert them to something different before going ahead with an import? Or should I try a different piece of software? Thank you

Hi all, I have a setup where my Wireless Router is quite a distance from my PC - so the coverage is poor, I have looked at the repeater option and may implement it. Ok I found! I have a maxtor touch backup drive which for some reason doesn't see the USERS folder. It's not my system it is actually designed that way. (Looked it up on google) Question is, could I go into outlook mail setup and change the root directory which the pst files were saved to, to something like: c:\documents and settings\test Because my maxtor drive software will see and backup that folder cheers

In Vista, Where are the outlook PST files stored? I am struggerling to find them! Any help would be great

Hi sorry me again! Last question promise! I have Dell Dimension RAID 0 striped across 2x 150gb drives. Does anyone know a piece of software which can perform this sort of recovery? I own R-Studio but pretty sure it can't, maybe wrong.

I know this question probably gets asked alot but I would like a more "up-to-date" answer I use Acronis/Ghost at the moment. Can someone recommend me another piece of software I don't mind how expensive/as long as it does the job. For backing up/restoring images from Hard drives. Thank you

Hi all, I have a Dell Dimension 9150 which I have come to realise has RAID 0 (striped) across 2x 150gb drives. Other than faster performance I can't see why they have done this on a desktop machine??? A drive has failed (great!) I have tried to run a chkdsk on it, but it just won't run. I could do with getting the users data off, but how can I run a recovery program on 2 drives? As it's RAID 0, the data will be striped across the 2 drives. Any pointers would be amazing. Thanks

When inserting images into Word documents, powerpoints etc encourage students to: Save the picture to their home area. Then in the document: File > Insert Picture > and select the picture. Rather than copying and pasteing straight from the Internet into the document. By inserting it, it dramtically reduces the size of the picture they're working on. Delete the picture from home area after!

Yeah they use to do this, they're let you write the questions down as you go as well, and when you come to do it the next day - same questions, possibly a different order if your unlucky that is.

I am not sure how much this applies now but I did CISCO course 3years, in 6form (ccna) - well part of it, and there was loads of cheating going on because the answers were available on the internet - so people could revise the answers and pass the multiple choice exams. Some of these people passed the course and got a ccna, but no f*** all!

Can I use bartPE to make the image memory stick bootable?

Hi all thanks for the help. I've created a memory stick which is bootable and gets me to the setup which gives me the option to backup, restore etc. And I've put an image on another memory stick. I can restore from the image on the memory stick. My question is, is it possible to make this memory stick image bootable? So I don't have to use 2 memory sticks each time? Many thanks
