I was at Uni last year - I don't remember seeing one Laptop in my Lectures, students mainly used Pen and Paper to make notes. All the lecture slides were then availale for download from the uni website after the lecture. There was around 75-100 students in my lectures. 10-20 students if there were a party the night before!

Hey finally got round to taking 70-270 exam, and I passed! I was relieved. I had done the studying though. Top tip of the day………anyone thinking of doing the 70-270 Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP make sure you look at the CBTnuggets video for this exam, they are spot on, they cover everything you need and you will PASS. The American chap talking you through it chucks in some humor along the way as well. Good Luck, 70-290 for me next….

Are virtual machines still prone to system and file errors preventing them from booting? If I have a physical server running a couple of virtual servers, Do they all pick up their own IP addresses and do I need additional network cards?

Can anyone shed some light on this, I have read over it before. Basically the government have come up with a scheme which gives you a minimum of 2k for a 10yearold+ car, when you trade in for a new one - in order to get older motors off the roads.

Helping out one of our staff members, they have purchased office 2008 for their macbook air. Which doesn't have a cd/dvd drive, as you probably know. I have tried putting the Apple office 2008 disk into a PC and share it out, but the pc doesn't seem to recognise the disk? Not that familiar with macs, Any suggestions? Cheers

Planning to purchase Netbooks for our school, they come with XP home which wont go on a Domain. Is it possible to download components to enable them to be joined to the Domain using the existing home xp. What do you guys do with yours?? Linux isn't an option unfortunately.

Anyone using an online backup solution they can recommend? Have about 500-750gb of Data.

I have a maxtor onetouch 320gb which cost me about £90. I am happyish with it. The one problem with maxtor onetouch is it doesn't backup certain folders like local settings, so it wont backup my pst file unless I change the location of where its stored. I want to get something similar for my parents PC, but it'll need to be simple and backup pst files without changing the location. Can anyone recommend a solution similar to the onetouch which will backup pst files??

Morning all, I need to order 60 Laptops for the Maths department. As cheap as possible please, budgets are tight. How comes you upload is alot higher than your download? Shouldn't it be the other way round? And why is 6.934mbps download, and then 867kbps in brackets? Whats the actuall download?

I used speedtest.net And I got 5053kbps Download 294kbps Upload

We have a caretakers/gardeners office, they are not part of our network. I have set them up with 4workstations and an old machine which acts as a NAS for backup/sharing etc. They have pop emails which comes into their Outlook. They want to have out of office replies, but their machines won't always be on. The out of office replies are setup using outlook rules but will obviously only work when outlook is running on the machine. Without moving them on to our network and without getting them exchange, is there a way in which maybe I could set something up on the NAS? So they do get out off office replies when their machines are off? As the NAS stays on all the time. They each have their own email address and logon locally, no domain. Any suggestions would be great.

I have outlook at home (no exchange). How do I get it to Out of office reply when the machine is turned off/or outlook is not running? Is there a way? Replies fine when Outlook is running. From what I understand outlook has to be running in order for out of office to reply to incoming messages.
