  1. I have a 28u with about 9u spare. But want another to accommodate my new blade, but could not envisage using all the extra u's Do you have any links to the APC'S, thanks
  2. They look good, how much are they roughly?
  3. Can anyone recommend a 22u cabinet to accept a HP C3000 blade unit. Although I like the HP one, it's quite expensive. If anyone can convince me to purchase it, then I may do. Cheers
  4. With a pension like that I would expect to live to 110. Me too, I doubt I will ever retire, can't afford to!
  5. Leave him alone! He needs the pension because he has potentially another 30 - 40 years left to live the lifestyle he has been accustomed to! Isn't that what footballers wives get anyway as a settlement!
  6. Does it have anything to do with your RBC? Has their/your cache box been playing up?
  7. I am looking at moving into thin clients and possibly Citrix. Can anyone please let me have the name of reputable suppliers who have good knowledge. Also, the reason I mention Citrix is that this is the only format I've used in the past. So if anyone can persuade me to look at alternatives, then please, fire away! Many thanks
  8. Out of sync? If I were to use a NAS which took a complete backup of our PDC and BDC every weekend. I don't see what the problem would be if I were to re-image the two servers (even if only one were to fail). Please correct me if I'm wrong
  9. Simple solution - just Ghost the servers (may take a while to restore) but couple this with a regular backup hey presto - cheap! May take a little longer than some people to get back up and running, but there is such a thing as overkill! I used to work for the government and we had nothing like what some are suggesting!
  10. Many of my HP Procurve switches are reporting "Excessive CRC/Alignment Errors on port". This has only just stared happening in the last 2 weeks (according to the switch logs). Why would this suddenly start happening to some switches/cabling and computers now, when they have been in place for 18 months now? Also, would the affect logon times. Many thanks
  11. How about this: Just what you need
  12. Anybody use Fluke Interpretair to map their wireless network and Analyzair to manage interference. If so, is it worth it?

    Snow!!!

Typical! I am looking out of my window and it's BRIGHT SUNSHINE! There's no justice in the world. Also, writing the previous line made me laugh. Only in the UK could we complain about the sunshine (the little we get) and pray for poor weather!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are a strange lot!
  14. Just put a new toner into a HP Colour Laserjet CP1515n printer and it still says the yellow needs replacing. We have done all the usual, anyone experienced a problem like this before. The only thing I can think of is the new toner is empty!

    DigiScribble

Just had a member of ICT in asking about 'digiscribble'. As soon as I saw this yesterday on 'something for the weekend' I knew it would not be the last I heard of it. For those of you who don't know what I'm on about, it works very much like an 'e-beam'. You attach a little device to the top of your pad and it records whatever you write/draw, etc. You then connect it to your machine and upload the drivvle, sorry scribble to do whatever you want to do with it. Link: digiscribble the mobile notetaker Has anyone experience of these yet? Thanks
  16. The texts etc are coming from outside of School. The person in question confided with the Assistant Head
  17. Hi, I am working with SLT to stop a possible groomer. We have a year 11 girl who has been receiving unwanted text messages from this guy. What is the best way of extracting these text messages from the phone so I can use them in a document. The phone is a Sony K810i, I have used the software but cannot get access to the text's. Is there anything out there which will do the job. Many thanks
  18. Hi, I have been asked by our Connexions and Enterprise people to talk to Year 11's who have expressed an interest in the world of ICT as a career. I am up for this, but apart from trying to dissuade them from taking a career in IT I thought I'd leave it quite open and informal, maybe talk about the different roles within IT and how to get a foot on the ladder, etc. Is there anything you think I should add, which you feel would be important to talk to them about, apart from the obvious. Maybe I should take them into the Server room (for those who are interested in networks) to show them what's what! Many thanks
  19. Just ordered from them yesterday. Cheapest patch leads and panels anywhere! I know many companies purchase their patch leads from them and have a 100% mark-up, so I always go here.
  20. I am going to tidy my server room, namely my server and cabinets. What I am proposing is to tidy my core switch/server links to a new patch panel in my cabinet. This patch panel will then uplink to a new patched cabinet above the server, which then goes off to another patch panel where these all go off to their respective end switches. What I want to know is, is there any limit or 'ideal' number of connections, i.e patch panel connections a link should have. It is possible from the server, through the core switch to the end switch there may be 4 patch panel connections. Is there any degradation in the quality of the data over a possible connection which only went through one patch panel. I ihope I have explained myself correctly
  21. Echo this, it's a great piece of software!
  22. Hi I have something similar. It worked well in the bedroom, but other rooms were a nightmare. I finally tracked it down to my wireless router. I switched it off when I did not need it and it sorted the problem. hope this helps
  23. Can anyone recommend a scanner for a new project for a document scanning project. Don't want to spend too much (maybe £500) to enable us to digitise most mail and import into SIMS etc. Also, does anybody know of an import routine to link SIMS or is there only a manual way of importing doc's to SIMS
  24. I remember seeing a piece of software which allowed users the ability to restore their own files. The software took a backup of any file which was changed up to a maximum of 5 instances, after that the first was overwritten. Can anybody enlighten me to the product as I am looking at buying a NAS and incorporating this into it. Thanks Karl
