You need to use profiles in Configurator and set it to disable the App Store (which removes it from the iPad) and also there's a setting to prevent adding/removing of apps. But when you come to add new apps using Configurator, you need to remove the profile first and then add it again after you've finished!

No luck with 11.0.2
-
Will certainly give it a try and keep my fingers crossed!
-
Yes and High Sierra if that makes any difference.
-
We only use Configurator. I don't know if it has this option? We've never needed to use that option before.
-
That might be the case if it was just the Apple apps but it happens on Pic Collage for us which is 3rd party and was 'purchased' via VPP.
-
Yeah, spoke to Apple Enterprise. According to them, restoring an iPad to factory state with Configurator brings with it iMovie, Garageband, Keynote, etc which were made free a while ago. But I've just done that and it definitely doesn't have those apps. Anyway, that's a separate issue. How do you manage yours? Just with Configurator?

It's a lot of apps for us. iMovie, Garageband, Pic Collage, Paper by 53, Launchpad...But some apps are fine such as Brushes Redux, WordFoto, Geoboard. Just spent 45 mins on the phone to Apple. Most of it I spent explaining to them how Configurator 2 works and how I don't need an Apple ID for supervised devices. He started off by saying that iOS11 has introduced the requirement that all apps sync to iCloud and therefore need an Apple ID. I said, we didn't have the issue on iOS 11.0 and we have shared iPads so we don't use Apple IDs. We moved on to him telling me that I need to unsupervise the device and return it to factory state to investigate whether it's the 11.0.1 update or Configurator causing the problem. It has to be just a bug in the update if it worked on the previous version and I've not changed any settings in AC2. All apps were downloaded via the VPP store before anyone suggests that they might be tied to a different ID.

200 views and nobody has this issue?

Hello all, We have a bunch of iPads which I manage with Apple Configurator. A few of our students decided to update some of them to iOS 11 which was nice of them. Of course there's some apps that haven't been updated by the developers so no longer work. However, the 11.0.1 update seems to have introduced another issue- When loading some apps (e.g. Garageband, iMovie, Pic Collage) we get the 'Sign in to iTunes Store' prompt. I can confirm we did not have this issue on 11.0.0. I've literally just updated to 11.0.1 on one of the iPads to test. Anyone else getting this? Apple are so annoying! James.

Not quite sure about your group problem but I've had lots of issues with Cloud Print and recently it stopped working completely. We're now using the new 'Native Print' feature which seems to be working ok at the moment.
-
Still having problems with this. Has anyone got 'Native Printing' working on Chromebooks?
-
Update: I've discovered the new 'Native Printing' that arrives with Chrome 59 following the instructions here- https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/7276100?hl=en The printers get pushed to the Chromebooks but when I try to select one on the Chromebook, it just says 'Error setting up printer'.
-
Update: I've rolled back to version 58 but still all of the printers are 'Currently offline'.
-
For anyone with the same problem, I've just found this- https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/Vx43SubimBQ;context-place=topicsearchin/chrome/category$3Awindows7 Seems to be the update to Chrome 59 to blame!
-
Is anyone having trouble with Cloud Print today? On the Windows server that I've got Cloud Print set up on, all of the 'classic' printers are showing 'Currently offline'. I've tried logging out of Chrome and back in. I've tried completely closing Chrome and reloading. I've tried removing and adding all of the printers. I can't find anymore suggestions online. When I had this issue in the past, just rebooting Chrome fixed it. Help!! James

This might help- https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/2717664?hl=en

There doesn't seem to be a way, other than what you suggested using Sheets.
-
Ok, thanks for your thoughts.
-
Thanks. I did have a look at that option but the downside is that it converts all Google files into Word/Excel/PDF. Of course they could then re-upload and re-convert each file but I read some people had issues with it not converting back correctly.

Yeah, there is the possibility of that. It's a difficult one because obviously she should be allowed to take files that she is the 'owner' of from her own Google Drive, as long as they don't contain any sensitive data.
-
Has anyone used the 'Drive Migrator' app on the Chrome Web Store? One of our teachers is wondering whether she can take her Drive files with her when she leaves in July. As the GSuite admin, I can only transfer files between users on the same domain. James.

Preparing Interactive presentations on Chromebooks

We use Annotate.net -
Clear the browser cache and try again?

We had similar ideas last year when we started using Chromebooks and were trying to find a suitable replacement for SMART Notebook. We've been using Annotate.net and it works pretty well.
