Is it possible to open Open Office files in Word 2003. A pupil opened his and it was all characters. Is there a plugin so Word 2003 can open ODF files etc?

Green Drill for me. -
Just wondering what everyone else does? Do you use Sims to back up to the local drive and then NTBackup to backup that file to another location or do you use SQL to back it up? Would also like to know/see what scripts/batch files you use to start/create your back ups.?

Also check Ramesys for prices. I find their quotes always hard to beat. This is what i had for a school back in October, i seem to remember that MS have slightly raised these now but not my much.

I need a VBScript that will check if a folder exists and if so delete it and all its contents. I have a VBScript that will do it for a singe file and i am not sure ho to convert it so it will delete a folder and all its contents. THis is what i hav.... Basically I have a RIS image and it contains software that is not site licensed, i don't want to create a nother image just for that. So I just want to dlete the folder and shortcuts from the 'all users' menu. End Function

I know a school that has over 30 of these and run with restricted policies. They map the printers with a logon script and have never had any issues at all.

I have not seen any red or wite text at any stage yet. The Adaptec Scsi is where the boot sequence stops.......? It was working fine till i starting messing with the settings on this bit.

I am having anightmare tryign to get theis server to boot. The raid config has been messed up and needs to be reconfigured. It has 3 72gb drivers in the server. I have the HP SmartCd but i can't get it to the stage where it boots form the cd. I know its a raid config issue becasue if i unlpug the raid card it will boot to cd no problem but the cd complains there is no boot drive detected. I have tried to reset the SCSI config but obviously wrong....! I am at a loss as i have never done ths before. When teh server boots the first option is to configure the 'Lights out option' which i know is nothing to do with the raid, then the next option is the SCSI card config. Now, this i were i am lost as i have no raid experience. Can some one hel me with this. Th eoptions in th econfig are to set the ID, then Rreset the SCSi then enable or disable. The server detects two (or is it dual) SCSI channels and gives you options to configure both. Hope this makes sense???

There is a patch you should install for XP Sp2 for the HD audio. I had the same problem on a recent batch of computers we had it. I created the image from a Vanilla SP2 RIS image and then applied the patch before the driver. Can't find the link now but Google with I bet.

SEN software Penfriend problem running on limeted user account
Kyle replied to Kyle's topic in Educational Software
Excellent Pallen, I will try this later. -
If only i knew how............................!

Is there any way this can be deployed by GPO and if so how?
-
Our SEN dept have purchased a piece of software called Penfriend. I have installed this as admin and it runs fine. When a pupil logs on with restriction it will not run. I changed permissions on the c:\program files\penfriend folder to students 'modify' for testing and it still does not run. In our environment students have no access to the c:\ drive at all. The error is: Error 1796 : No valid source can be found for the product Penfriend Xp. Windows installer cannot continue. Followed by another pop up box with the error 'Fatal error during installation' Pupils have a mandatory profile (not sure if this is the problem) and it works fine for administrator. Any ideas?

What about duplicate GUID's? I have over 20 computers that all have the same GUID. The event viewver on the Remote Installation server is moaning about it all the while.

I thought this was very good and very well written guys. Did you have help putting all the reports together?

I have exactly the same problem, will try the fix out.
