NO, the old account of the PC's in question (RIS in AD by OLD NM) were deleted from AD before i attempted re-RIS them. I did not pr-stage them at all.

I have a room fo 20 computers that when RIS'd they all have the same GUID. I get tot he last one or two and they wont RIS at all saying it can't fine the PXE bootfilename. At the moment i am more concerend witht he duplicate GUID's. I tried the latest BIOS update on one PC and it seems to have made no dofference. I have checked old posts and can'r find uch on it apart forma floppy bot disk that changes the UUID but these machines in question don't have floppy drives. I have checked other machins that i have RIS and they are fine so i know there is no troublw with RIS. I have since found another 16 PC's on the domain with the same problem. I have also found out that all the Mobos in these PC's ar ASRock. Can anyone help me please?

I have a room full of custom built PC's all of the same Mobo and all same hardware. I have managed to get 19 to boot into RIS and image OK. I have one though that stalls at the DHCP bit of RIS. It displays the DHCP line with the GUID and the Mac address and then stops and goes no further. It then returns the error PXE-E53 No boot filename received. I have no idea, can anyone help with advice?

LAN on motherboard. Sorted the probelm as well guys. Weird one here. i found that if i disabled the Hard Drive in the boot sequence the machines woul dboot to PXE I tried this on all the ones i had problems with and they are now working. @DSapseid Did you try this when you were having your problems? I would be interested in the app as well m8. I will PM you ,y email addy I'm sure someone will come up with an explanation for this.

Well, there is no option to put the network in the boot order, just removable drive. I have checked this against the one that work and they are all the same as the machines i can't get to work.

I have 20 RM computers that were all purchased at the same time and are the same spec. I have set the bios to PXE enabled and some have booted for RIS. Others i can get to the RIS window, i don't even get it search for the DHCP server. I have checked the bios settings of one that works against one that does not and they all appear to be the same. I have changed the Cat5 Cable, keyboard even tried to boot from a RIS disc and still no good. Any suggestions or help?

Did you also drop the driver files in the 1386 folder on your Vanilla image. Try that and then restart the RIS service.

We had the same issue with Sims..after the after the USB drive letter manager we have no more problems.

Does anyone know if i can install 2003 under a 2007 licence?

I remember the Acer from XMA, I am sure that all the Dell, RM amd Acer came in with Office 2003 but i am struggling to find proof.

Todays printeres come with all sorts of printer protocols switched on as default. Ina vanilla 2003 & Xp enviroment what do you recommend can be switched off?

This is what i seem to remember as well.

Over the last few years (4 or 5) we have had a series of laptops brought into the schools from the Laptops for Teachers scheme. I am trying to help with software audit on a couple of schools. They have a few Dell 500 which came in around 2003, a few RM laptops which came in around 2004 and a few Acer laptops that came in in 2005. All of these have since been re imaged via RIS or Ghost etc. Does anyone know if these came in with Office 2003 already installed and therefore do not need to have a separate licence by the school. I have contacted the LEA but no one seems to know as its so far back na the people who were in charge of distributing the laptops tot he schools have either left or gone on to other jobs in other depts.

I have just gone into one of the secondary schools becasue the normal tech is off sick. I have had thrust ed in front of me the Edexcell Onscreen testing paperwork. I need to go to http://www.catglobal/edexcel to download the software and install it. I have downloaded it and installed it onto he server. I am now stuck. the administrator software..where do i put this? On a workstation that will be used to administer the tests or on the server as well? Where do i get the workstation software from. I think half the instructions have not been printed and At he moment it is as clear as mud. Has anybody done/doing this who could run me through it in idiots language?
