[ms office - 2016] Office 365 Click to Run: Device based activation
free780 replied to KevinB's topic in Office Software
I think your not supposed to technically use generic accounts on Office 365. But it happens. -
I only started administering macs from 10.6 onwards using Profile Manager. This was painful any settings per device seemed to work. However trying to target per user group never seemed to work. Since then we've moved to mojave and user settings work but network drives don't mount. Also Fill User Directories is broken meaning you have to use a . config file for things like Chrome policy. The privacy co trol panel for things like Microphone are also very annoying. Compared to managing Windows Systems, Mac administration is hard work and usually involves custom scripts and bodges. If your macs are 1:1 devices there seem to be less issues.

Isn't the NUL experience bad for users who haven't got a 1:1 device?

Made a bit of a mess... WSUS on Hyper-V... VHDX - resize?
free780 replied to Koldov's topic in Windows Server 2012
There is something in the works. A lot of big enterprises will have large complex WSUS/SUP setups. With SCCM you can remove expired updates automatically. I think you have to script it on standalone WSUS. If you just want to delay updates Windows Update for Business might work for you but you need the bandwidth. -
Autodesk Fusion 360 - Education Account Issues
free780 replied to robyholmes's topic in Educational Software
Well Autodesk said internally they were moving to Office365 so you'd hope they would think about adding Autodesk as an enterprise app. It's a shame they can't whitelist your external IP to allow many registrations for Autodesk accounts. -
It will be because some Admins still rely on GPO deployments and don't have SCCM deployed.

Autodesk Fusion 360 - Education Account Issues

I think in both cases it was only 1 group so we didn't encounter the issues. Microsoft have similar mechanisms for Microsoft accounts..Have you tried raising a ticket with Autodesk? -
Autodesk Fusion 360 - Education Account Issues
free780 replied to robyholmes's topic in Educational Software
I've deployed in 2 colleges and not had issues. I do think it's strange how autodesk don't allow some federation/SSO with Gsuite/AzureAD/ADFS (choose your poison) and account provision. -
[ms office - 2016] Office 365 Click to Run: Device based activation

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/device-based-licensing I meant this reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\Configuration /v O365ProPlusRetail.DeviceBasedLicensing /t REG_SZ /d 1 -
Are you trying to standardise on 1809/1903. This seems to be the main issue as I don't want to go to the 03 release but you can't control this with Intune without a powershell script and hosting the 1809 yourself from a webserver.

[ms office - 2016] Office 365 Click to Run: Device based activation

There was another reg setting needed for DBL and the AzureAD side. -
What are others doing? Is it always on vpn to keep them up to date? Or configuring SCCM for Internet clients? Or using Windows Update for Business/Intune?

[ms office - 2016] Office 365 Click to Run: Device based activation
free780 replied to KevinB's topic in Office Software
I just used the latest version of https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/overview-of-the-office-2016-deployment-tool#download-the-office-deployment-tool I edited the xml file. It may be if SCCM isn't on the latest or supports the feature yet. -
I did it by creating a config file from within Visual Studio 2017. Then I GPP'd a custom shortcut to load the config from the start menu.

I know of an org that moved to 3CX. I'm not sure if it was the reseller but they had issues with support. It depends how much customisation you want to do. I do notice no one seems to have taken the Teams plunge yet.

[ms office - 2016] Office 365 Click to Run: Device based activation
free780 replied to KevinB's topic in Office Software
I would deploy it with the new DBL enabled making sure you are licenced. Test it and trial it. I've had to clean up intune as some company owned pcs were marked as personal. This is how I'm managing the Dynamic AAD Group. -
Profile Manager isn't very reliable.

[ms office - 2016] Office 365 Click to Run: Device based activation

Yes OPPTransition is the old method which I believe MS have stopped working at least in the UK. I have managed to get DBL working. I had to configure these GPP settings as not every client is on Windows 1809 and the correct Office version or newer and Hybrid joined on the device level. -
I haven't got network connections working reliably. The pain point with jamf is the mandatory 2 training days. The minimum amount of Macs is 50. There is a ongoing annual renewal as well. It better than profile manager and doesn't require an LDAP connection over the Internet like Mostyle.
-
I've got Jamf and the main issue is they don't work as shared devices. If you assign them 1:1 and the user can connect to a share, add a mailbox etc they work. It's a lot harder in a lab environment particularly if you expire passwords!

You can hide the printer part of the settings app in group policy targeted at users since 1803 I believe.

Office 365 ProPlus now supported on Windows Server 2019
free780 replied to Arthur's topic in Windows Server 2019
This was announced in the summer. I have a RDS farm on 2019 with FSLogix containers deployed. Though we've found you need to keep FSLogix up to date and on the same version, which can be a challenge depending on how many hosts you have. MS still haven't said in the Onedrive sync client is supported in multi user RDS environments. I'm guessing no due to the CPU and Disk demands. I've tried FSLogix on Windows 10 and it seemed to work. The user can only log onto 1 device at a time by default I believe.
