Give it a few weeks of playing with the VM and i'll be testing it on a file server which has our software installed. AS for production servers, next summer will be the start of upgrading 1 or 2 file servers as wont have any detrimental effects.

Do you email from within VLSC or do you have an email address?

If installing on physical box, make a bootable USB stick, so much easier.

Just got the email saying it's released and it's on the volume licensing site , i only checked about 4 hours ago and wondered if it was time! Downloading - 8 minutes to go

Surely general staff shouldn't need access? If it's safeguarding issues then you should has a designated safeguarding member of staff who should be doing the investigation.

Yes, blocked in policies for staff and students. Open for IT staff but only used on our computers when SLT need to investigate something for evidence.

The main website is hosted externally, but the website for if the main one is offline would be hosted on the server. Currently I have IIS ticked to re-direct to the new URL whether or not the destination site is online.

Re-Inventing the wheel - most of that can be done for free.

Is it possible within IIS when have a redirection check to see if the redirected site is online or not before redirecting, and then display the appropriate page? To clarify: - a user visits http://www.domain.com and goes to IIS. - Typically IIS with redirection set would go straight to http://www.domain2.com - If this website is down a 'page cannot be displayed' is shown. - If the redirected website is down, to show the local hosted website instead. Thanks.

I've had RemoteApp installed and working for some years, and trying to improve the logon process with the number of prompts. Currently i get the following 2 prompts - i've searched and found all sorts of proposed solution, none which seem to have worked. Anyone else got a remoteapp setup and able to assist and get rid of these 2 prompts? I'm using a UCC certificate from godaddy so its saying certificate mismatch as the remoteapp external name is one of the SAN's listed in the certificate and not the main one. thanks.

Have you pulled the printing impact section from a Papercut system? If so, how do you do that? Thanks.

I tried that on the policy linked to the 10 machines but it still comes up when any user logs on.

I just use the temperature sensors built into the UPS's We have 2 air con units in the server room, UPS temperature reports between 17 and 18 degrees. If one fails it usually increases up to 20 so this is the threshold level and then I get emailed to both work and home. Works for me.

on My windows 10 Computer OU I have blocked inheritance and created some new policies as the other policies for win 7 have delete cached copies of roaming profiles enabled. However, 'not configured' should already be as default when create a new policy' Therefore, if I create another new policy and assign it to the win 10 OU it seems to ignore the setting and the message still comes up. any ideas?
-
Thanks i'll give that a go.
-
If that is the issue then that means cached profiles will NOT be removed once the policy is changed back?

I do photography professionally. I would personally buy a separate video camera and an SLR - an SLR won't give you the zoom range of a proper video camera. I know videographers who do weddings with SLRs, but buy the time you add MICs etc you may as well just buy a proper video camera.

Hi I've had windows 10 RTM on some PCs without any issue for trialling. I have now downloaded the latest July release to update the base image from a clean install. Once added to the domain and login with a roaming profile, I get the message below that pops up on the desktop. I'm assuming it is trying to sign into some Microsoft services but cant? How can I disable this?? Thanks.
-
That kind of occured to me, but also the Papercut client has to be running for the user, so can select chargeable dept etc, so despite being logged on through remoteapp it would need to use the papercut client on the server to use the AD username.

If i add a printer to the 2012 R2 remote app box to a printer IP, the printer shows when you go print in any remoteapp application. However, as we run Papercut and all printers are mapped by unc /share path on the print server, if i add the printer to the server, then go into the remoteapps it doesnt show. Is there any way around this so that remote users can print to the work printer central queue then they could release the print jobs on the way into work before having to log in? Just another useful feature i would like to have..if possible?

I have an older version of ClassicShell which I am 100% sure I edited the MSI using ORCA to disable automatic updates. I have downloaded the latest version but cannot find the entry where I disabled the auto update. Can anyone help? Thanks.
