Sounds daft but try shutting down, unplugging the power and then removing the battery for 10 mins. This sorted things out on a laptop I looked at yesterday that was constantly popping up the "USB Device not Recognised" balloon.

Might sound like a daft question but; what colour is the desk that they are on? Do you use mouse mats?

Do any of the Axel Zero clients have audio outputs? We're considering a thin/zero client solution for our registration computers (one in each classroom), but the existing computers are hooked up to the clasrrom audio systems for presentations, streaming media etc. I've been looking at a few solutions but have noticed that the Axel systems don't appear to have any audio outputs. Is this the case, or am I missing something? Cheers, Will

A student comes in to the office with a flash drive that has had the usb connector snapped off. Low and behold, the flash drive contains important coursework that is due in today and is the only place she's got it saved. Right, forget the lecture on only using flash drives to transport data and always keeping your work on the school network... that can wait... Let's see what I can do. Suffice to say she was a very lucky and grateful young lady who, after the prescribed lecture on file management, won't be using flash drives as her only means of data storage. I quite like it actually. It's aesthetically very pleasing and I bet it's more comfortable for long conversations. I don't have an iPhone so I can't pass judgement, but on every other mobile I've used, the earpiece gets very hot on a long call. Also, it saves your battery life for when you're away from the desk. Let's not forget how holding a mobile against your head melts your brain...

Well this is all very queer. I'm not even getting junk mail! I too am sending from hotmail successfully. Are people getting mail through the pop service?

Not just me then! I think this is the first time since I've been on hotmail (10 years?) that it's played up... AFAIK that login page has been like that for about a week now so I don't think it's related.

Has anyone else NOT been receiving emails to their hotmail accounts today? I've not had a new email all day, despite buying something from ebay, using paypal and sending test message from work...

The job priority test is a good one that is becoming more and more popular. We set a practical test of setting up a data projector to a laptop, then to a pc using a video splitter. Another test we set was the NumLock on a laptop trick.

I've just done a quick test and it would appear that WMM doesn't seem to create any other files than the *.wmv file. So, scratch my idea!! I exported a project to WMV and kept refreshing the explorer window that WMM was exporting to. All that happened was the *.wmv file was created and it grew in file size as the project exported. Sorry!

It may be something along the lines of WMM exporting to a temp file before the WMV encoding takes place, therfore the temp file creation is being blocked. If you export from WMM to another location first, then copy the wmv to the media drive, does that work? Sounds like a pretty tidy setup you got over there.

Do these fit onto Unicol poles, as we already have these in pretty all classrooms. We're looking at installing these new Casio projectors over the next couple of years. If we can find a bracket that will fit the Casio projector and Unicol pole then we can do most, if not all, of the installation ourselves. Especially with the generous throwing distances the Casio projectors offer...

What spec server are you running it on? Do you have anything else running? We had it on a desktop pc running windows server along with a VMWare server, zimbra, and a print server and it ran like an absolute dog. Since then we've bought some proper server hardware (Intel server board, 8Gb Ram, 800w PSU, 2TB Sata, Xeon Quad Core) and are running VMWare ESXi. We've setup a virtual server with 1 cpu, 1Gb Ram and a 40Gb HDD. This virtual server is running Windows server 2003 R2, and only has Spiceworks installed. It's also the print-server for approx 10 network printers. Spiceworks is now running like a dream! I searched for and installed the Spiceworks gadget after reading this thread and that too is running really well. I actually prefer the gadget interface to the one that runs in a web browser; it's more concise and less bloated.
