We're about to purchase a Kensington Sync and Charge cabinet for our Toshiba Android tablets, but we need some USB cables for it. Looking at the pictures here - Kensington Charge and Sync Cabinet (K67771EU) - www.misco.co.uk - it looks like we need a left-angled USB A to Micro-B USB2.0 lead. Can we find one anywhere??? Can we boat! This is as close as we have found USB 2.0 A Male Plug To Micro B Jack Cable Adapter Left Angled 20cm | eBay, but the photos are inconclusive and the description doesn't specify which end is left angled. And besides that, order from foreign ebay sellers isn't something we can do easily in school. Any ideas, good folk?

We're about to start our second of a 3 year deal with RM. 50mb up and down and we've not had a single outage so far. We have a smoothwall proxy which keeps our connection nice and zippy. I wouldn't be averse to hearing about other options for us to consider for when our 3 year deal is up as RM are not the quickest for provisioning change requests, and they did bork things up with our email for a while at the start of the deal, although Link2ICT were partly to blame in that.

Hi all, Need something clearing up if possible. Had a look around but can't get my head round this! I've been asked to take on a new school. At the moment there is no Microsoft Agreement in place at all. Everything is individually licensed, so essentially we are starting from scratch. I will be building a new virtual server environment. 1 physical host (Hyper-V 2008 or XenServer) with 2 virtual servers that will both be running Windows Server 2008 R2. We're having the physical server built to spec with no OS as I will be installing one of the free virtual host operating systems mentioned above. What do I need to buy to ensure the 2 virtual servers are appropriately licensed? For desktops (Win7, CALs, Office etc), we will be purchasing a Microsoft EES Agreement, or perhaps expanding ours as this school is part of our Academies Trust that has floating staff. Hi all, Quick question, hopefully. We have a Microsoft EES license which covers us to upgrade whatever version of Windows operating system comes with our machines. We want to buy some new PCs for our library but the model we're looking at doesn't come with any version of Windows pre-installed at all. What is our cheapest, and legal, option for getting Windows 7 Pro on these machines. Viglen, our EES provider, were next to no help and simply said we don't recommend buying PCs without Windows!

Has this changed though as I'm convinced it only used to provision contacts that have email addresses?

Hi all, Hope someone can clarify this for me. We host our own Sims Learning Gateway server so therefore do our own user provisioning via SIMS on Active Directory. I have come to provision our new Year 7 parents and in the "Select Contacts to Add to Provisioning Service" screen in SIMS all of the Year 7 parental contacts are showing up. I was under the impression (and was sure it used to be the case) that it would only be the parental contacts that have an email address in their account that would appear. In order to reduce the number of accounts to manage we have only asked for one email address per household, but we are getting mum and dad appearing in the list of contacts to be provisioned even if they have no email address against their contact details. Has something changed?

We're currently migrating over to a Google domain. We have got Google Apps Directory Sync and Google Apps Password Sync both working nicely so all our users are up and logging in with their AD credentials. We're looking at how to best use Google Drive and whether it is feasible to eventually replace our file server and network shares. In order for this to be a possibility we need to save files for other windows applications (2D Design, Photoshop, Autograph, Publisher etc) directly to Google Drive from the applications themselves without the need to download then re-upload. The Google Drive application would work for individual users, but is there a solution that works well on the network. Or is there a way of configuring Google Drive to work with network locations? Any student would need to be able to log in to any computer and their GAPPS Google Drive will sync with their AD user area (or folder in their user area) automatically. Doable?

Ignore that last comment! I have installed VAMT on the server on which I installed my KMS product key. From VMT I have changed my laptop to KMS, but now Windows is not activated. The status on VMAT is reporting the "count reported by your KMS is insufficient." This takes my back to one of my original questions. What will happen to my laptop now until I have activated another 23 machines? Am I best off changing my laptop back to MAK and changing a whole ICT suite of Win7 machines to KMS first?

Hey all, Looking for a bit of help/guidance as there doesn't seem to be that much out there on this. I've been using our MAK code to activate our Windows 7 machines (about 100 of them so far). Daftness, I hear you cry. Since installing Smoothwall, we've been having an issue with Windows 7 activating directly with Microsoft so I'm now looking to setup KMS. I also need to have this setup for a thin client pilot we're looking to run next year. I have installed a KMS product key on one of our Windows 2008 R2 servers, which seemed to go in fine. So what happens now? Is that now my KMS server? Do I need to touch any of my other Windows 2008 R2 servers or are they OK using the existing MAK code? I know you need 25 clients before it starts activating against KMS, so what do I do about the next 24 Windows 7 builds (I don't have any big installations coming up)? Should I go into one of the exisiting Windows 7 IT suites and convert them all from MAK to KMS? If so, how do I do it, and once I get to 25 would KMS be fully up and running on the network? It's seems like a great idea, badly executed to me, so any answers to my confused concerns would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Will

Cheers for the reply mate. The problem is that people's personal email addresses were being added to their Active Directory accounts, and then in turn being pulled up in the GAL on our Zimbra server. The only thing, apart from the domain admins, that has the access rights to update the active directory accounts is the SLG Active Directory Provisioning agent. That agent gathers its information from SIMS, so I need to think of a way stopping this from happening. So, to keep people's personal email addresses in SIMS, I will need to add their school email address in as their Primary(?) email address so that SLG doesn't populate AD with the personal email address.

Although, I do have a related question: What's the difference between a Main and Primary email address? More importantly, which one does Active Directory Provisioning use when creating and modifying SLG accounts?

Actually, ignore this. I've worked it out. As the title of this thread suggests - I was being a div! I didn't have the correct access rights to see other staff email address.

I'm trying to generate a report in SIMS - only about the second time I've ever had to do it, so bear with me.... All it needs is The member of staffs' names and their email addresses that have been added to the system. When building the report I'm choosing "Basic Details > Staff Full Name" and "Staff Contacts > Email" The email column is blank, so obviously I'm not looking in the right place for their email address. On further digging, it would appear that the email addresses are held in System Manager and not the normal Staff area. Can this info be included in a report, because I can't find it in the report designer for the life of me! Cheers folks, all help, as always, is much appreciated.
