Keep it taked till the 29th, put it on ebay now for a week saying it's taxed. Make your listing long and precise. factor the tax refund cost. It will sell. in the unlikly event it does not sell cash in the tax and relist. Rob

They do a 14 day battery test. One of Our Inet 2200 beeps every 14 days as it thinks the batteryies are shot. Another had to be taken out of service as it droped the load every 7 days! Rob

better still take them to Bett, leave them with on of our supliers and my NM can collect and bring them back ! Rob

We had a brownout before christmas that tripped the RCD to our network UPS. ( hopefully that problem should be sorted) But in that even the server ups was fine and happy, it saw a blip but carried on. However 20 minuets down the line the network would have gone down taking out the connection to the shared storage. Fortunatly I noticed and scooted into the office to restore power to the UPS. Remote access, and remote alerting is very very handy so keeping availability to these is a good thing. Rob

We get this in two situations. 1) physical damage to the membrane. 2) the circuit borad on the back becomming faulty. Luckily we currently have spare parts to fix both issues. Never touched firmware. Rob

Take full backups. Have you DR plan on hand. Be prepaird for systems to fail to post. Pull the plug and wait.......... Make sure your core switch, san, email server, and gateway are all on good ups's so that you can (A) Recive an alert at home when the power fails. (B) shared storage for Virtual Machines does not go off leaving hung servers. Rob

Nope at only 6K a year it's probably a false economy. I prefer power delivery that is consistent through the rev range rather than a dollop of boost halfway through ( I had a TDCI 130 Mondeo for a year ) . I am actualy taking ownership of a Passat TDi on the weeeknd whilst I do some jobs on my S-Type, but at £175 it will pay for itself easily. I was actualy at my garage this morning overhearing a conversation "the X3? Had to take the injectors out and send them for inspection" They get a large number of poorly high presure dervs through the door. Rob

It's not twice the ports. 4507 ( 5 line cards ) will take WS-X4548 line cards at 48 ports. that's 240 ports. the HP has 12 line cards 24 ports 288. 4507 ( 68 10GB ) vs 96 on the HP. Rob How many PSU's does

how is your internet provided as your edge router needs to know about all your internal networks. Rob

If it's faulty and they don't respond or fix the fault then yes your credit card company is liable under the consumer credit act to compensate.

We have a call out fee and unsociable hrs pay for anything outside 8-4 operational hrs. invoking this can only come from SLT or if we spot something critical. so it should not be a problem, but I know it has on a couple of occasions.

I got an email arroudn 10AM from "montastic" monitoring, indicating that our schools websites and my own websites wer unreachable? Schools hosted at the school, Mine in a small DC out of town, No Common link in terms of power, internet provison, platform, etc.... Quick investigation lead me to surmise that DNS was not functional, none would resolve. All DNS hosted on UKREG.... Of to UKREG website... No response, Fasthost website , AWOL.. took about 20 mins for Twitter ( Finaly a use for it ) to be updated with a quick note to say that they had had a major network failure as a result of power loss. For us it was an inconvinience. For others with Hosted servers or relying heavily on their DNS/E-mail services it was more of an issue. They got most of it back up within 90 mins or so. I may have to make some changes so that the Pri/Secondary DNS are not both Fasthost ( they dont seem to have servers in different physical locations for this! ) Rob
