Extending Wi-Fi by 800m to Sports Hut
twin--turbo replied to AJWhite1970's topic in Wireless Networks
I have done p2p wifi across town full line of sight 1.5Miles also done .5 miles obscured point to point across a business park and some other P2P stuff. Used both Ubiquitin Nanostation's and deliberant APC-5M's I would go with a pair of APC-5M-18's It's very easy to do and you will get good performance on near line of sight. Rob -
right click on the adapter in network control panel and click properties. It should say there. Rob

We did something like the cable mat with carpet and strong tape. The fire office told us to rip it out as it was a fire hazzard. The traffic line is over the top. The rubber roll stuff is worse than useless. We imported fixed 1M cable humps from the states when we did this 8 years ago. In the new building If there is no floor box then the desk abbuts the wall. There are no trailing cables. If someone wants a new island then they will have to stump up for a power pole. Rob

printer installs like this often have dialoug boxes poping up during deployment that the user is not able to see. can hang for ever some times. Shonkey system. We never had problems on novell iPrint so cant understand how microsoft cant get it right on their own OS!

We used to call it SuckS..tMaker, in the days when it was trying to teach english languaeg with an americaniZed spelling. We ran it on Netware , can't recal what Database it used now... must be 10 yearssince we got shot. Rob -
Got myself a new unused bosal towbar for the above passat for £51, so the spend on it is now £226 lol... Will save that by using it instead of the Petrol Galaxy for a couple of road trips with the trailer tent. My anual trip or bi anual costs near £200 a time in fuel in the galaxy. The only thing the OP's little festa does not have going for it is the engine conversion which makes it a modified car. Rob

I came across this by accident about a year ago. convert one of your internal webserver server IP's to decimal, stick it in your browser instead of the realip/server and hit enter.... http://3232235826 And low and behold the page will load ... You can also ping by decimal ip! One to confuse your peers with Rob

Home lab to start with. 3560-24 ( 100mb L3) 1760 router couple of 87x routers couple of old 2900XL or 3500 switches. That should be a very good start giving you most of the functionality you will need. IOS versions are the main thing to look for , Advanced Enterprise is realy the one you want for the routers. For switch gear you should be able to download IOS off CISCOS site but not for routers. Rob

Microsoft DPM will do disk to disk, can't say it's my favoutite thing in the world but you may find it's cheaper than BE. We do cross site backups between our two sites 5M appart. Rob

My next car is a 1996 Passat 1.9TDI Estate ( to fill in whilst I sort some bits on my Jag ). It's costing £175 of our other Senior Tech, has about 6 months MOT. I will save that in fuel costs in about 4 months. And once the MOT is out I will either Ebay it as is, MOT it and maybee keep using it till insurance time or flog it with MOT and probably get 150-200.. Rob
