  1. Set it in scope options (DHCP MMC > Add DHCP server > expand IPv4 > expand Scope > Scope Options. Set 006 (DNS Servers). Specifying a DNS server for a scope overrides the defaults (if any) in Server Options. NB: This assumes you have a 10.1.*.* DHCP scope and a 10.2.*.* DHCP scope already configured. edit: Also, what @kieran1990 said, though I read it as BYOD on guest networks.
  2. I've used FS.com and 10Gtek SFP and SFP+ in HP Procurve and the newer Aruba-branded models (5406R, 2530, 2540 and 2930F) without issue. The 5406R were picky when we tried older (Finisar) SFPs from the switch it replaced, but happily accepted 10Gtek and FS.com modules.
  3. Bit of a thread necro, but the email to customers this month (14th June, addressed to whoever signs off the SIMS invoices): is interesting. Not sure if it's an implied "we knew it would require a lot of work" or "this thing we bought is in a worse state than the previous owner let on".
  4. Are the linked documents missing too? If so, do they show up in the orphaned documents housekeeping routine (Tools > Housekeeping > Document management server > Maintained orphaned documents)?
  5. Bit of a thread necro, but how much of a faff was the Office 365 SSO to configure? The customer-facing documentation is a wee bit sparse and we've checked our end but their application is giving the "well you logged into Azure AD OK, but there's no mapping between your Azure credentials email and an account in our application" error. Which implies I'm waiting on them to do something since there's no "do X, Y and Z in a new enterprise app in Azure" instructions.
  6. How many messages are you sending via SMS? That seems fairly high. Our SIMS-using schools use SMS for emergencies (school closed due to snow) that the parent must know ASAP and email or (insert parent portal thing) for the less urgent stuff. When I queried (a while ago) using a alternative provider for SMS it wasn't an option.
  7. We have a Biffa-sized wheeled skip/bin and just call for another when it's full. Unlike some of the other waste firms we contact with the drivers are thoughtful and go above-and-beyond. I notice "login" still goes back to the old site.
  8. And as often happens when I have to document a problem for other people.... TLDR: Using the defaults listed here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/storage-at-microsoft/set-fsrm-storage-report-limits-using-powershell/ba-p/425362 I used set-fsrmsetting to reset the values to under the defaults, so each was an unique value and restarted FSRM. And now Storage Reports and File Screen Templates are working correctly. The takeaway is that the MMC will let you amend report values to unsafe amounts and prevent subsequent editing.
  9. More context: All of the following FSRM function work correctly: Editing File Screens and File Groups Classification Management File Management tasks Quotas and Quota templates Attempting to amend/add Storage Reports or File Screen Templates using powershell or fscrn / storrept also fails. It's not just an MMC issue. Search through settings (using get-fsrmsetting and set-fsrmsetting) and adjusting any "10000" values to a lower value (1000), then restarting FSRM merely changes the error message to complain that "1000" isn't a valid Value.
  10. On a previously-working FSRM, clicking New Storage report or New File Screen Template in FSRM (or attempting to edit an existing template or report) causes the error message: "An unexpected error has occurred. Please check application event log for more information. Details: Value of '10000' not valid for 'Value', 'Value' should be between 'Minimum' and 'Maximum' Parameter name: Value" Event log for the error in Storage Reports (FSRM source, Event ID 0): An unexpected error occurred in the File Server Resource Manager MMC snap-in Value of '10000' is not valid for 'Value'. 'Value' should be between 'Minimum' and 'Maximum'. Parameter name: Value at System.Windows.Forms.NumericUpDown.set_Value(Decimal value) at Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.FilesByOwnerReportParametersDialog.LoadValuesToUI() at Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.ReportTypeControl.InitializeSrmSpecific(RemoteManager remoteManager, HostFlags hostFlags) at Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.ReportTypeSelectionControl.InitializeSrmSpecific(RemoteManager remoteManager, HostFlags hostFlags) at Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.StorageTasksDisplayArea.OnAddRemoveReports(Object sender, EventArgs eventArgs) Event log for the error in File Screen Templates (FSRM source, Event ID 0): An unexpected error occurred in the File Server Resource Manager MMC snap-in at Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.RunReportPage.InitializeSrmSpecific(RemoteManager remoteManager, HostFlags hostFlags) at Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.FileScreenPropertySheetBase.InitializeSrmSpecific(RemoteManager remoteManager, HostFlags hostFlags) at Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.FileScreenTemplatesDisplayArea.OnCreateFileScreenTemplate(Object sender, EventArgs eventArgs) Value of '10000' is not valid for 'Value'. 'Value' should be between 'Minimum' and 'Maximum'. Parameter name: Value at System.Windows.Forms.NumericUpDown.set_Value(Decimal value) at Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.FilesByOwnerReportParametersDialog.LoadValuesToUI() at Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.ReportTypeControl.InitializeSrmSpecific(RemoteManager remoteManager, HostFlags hostFlags) at Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.ReportTypeSelectionControl.InitializeSrmSpecific(RemoteManager remoteManager, HostFlags hostFlags) at Microsoft.Storage.SrmMmc.RunReportPage.InitializeSrmSpecific(RemoteManager remoteManager, HostFlags hostFlags) which points to Storage reports being the problem. Solutions attempted: Remove FSRM and then re-install (uses old config, fails in the same manner) Delete all (visible) config, remove FSRM and re-install (still uses old config, fails in the same manner) Export config, check the existence of "10000" (not found), modify and re-import (no joy) Google has a few similar-ish sounding things where FSRM has fallen over, but the solutions suggested (remove and re-add FSRM), etc haven't solved the issue since FSRM will re-use the existing configuration. Plus the vague error doesn't help when searching. Any ideas / places to look to manually purge the config?
  11. That seems unlikely, given how many buildings around Gatwick (including the terminals themselves) offer WiFi. Unless we're talking heavy-duty ptp links from one end of the course to the other? But I'd assume the clubhouse is also the demarc for the phone/broadband, so that wouldn't be necessary. Was this a paid assessment or a "Bob knows WiFi" and Bob is fed up doing unpaid work?
  12. Educare was good when we had it. The National College ( https://thenationalcollege.co.uk/browse/search?search=data+protection&sort=new&cat=) is what we're currently subscribed to. If you've done any in-house training (applying data protection concepts to job roles "OK, you as a department need to do X, Y and Z") it's worth refreshing that if there's been staff turnover since the last time.
  13. Provided your start dates are correct (in the next academic year), there shouldn't be any problems. We've admitted early for years due to certain things needing to sync and be ready before the first day of term.
  14. The Web Component plugin for viewing footage? I've half-heartedly attempted a couple of times, but we tend to use the desktop software install. For managing the units, Chrome works fine - haven't tried new Edge.
  15. We did this (Paxton). Buy weather-proof stickers and treat it as a short-term stop-gap until you've cycled all the ID badges out for ones with embedded tags.
  16. They haven't yet (they'll have to since the pricing is over the "get 3 quotes" limit). I'm not convinced that we can't achieve it using existing tools, but I need to do some poking around.
  17. The Once and Future Witches by Alix Harrow. About 1/3 of the way in and I'm enjoying it. "In 1893, there's no such thing as witches. There used to be, in the wild, dark days before the burnings began, but now witching is nothing but tidy charms and nursery rhymes. If the modern woman wants any measure of power, she must find it at the ballot box. But when the three Eastwood sisters join the suffragists of New Salem, they begin to pursue the forgotten ways that might turn the women's movement into the witch's movement."
  18. ^ Is your data manager handling the reset of parent logins too? Student and staff are easy, it's typically parent logins / queries that take more time because of incomplete information being passed on. Giving "can send the parent a reset link" permissions to the person who answers the call makes it more reliable.
  19. Those of you who've moved from SMH to full Teams*, how have you made sure parents are kept in the loop? Parent Summary emails (or whatever 365 calls them)? *which we're currently using. Edit: - Yeah, I had queries about how granular the backend permissions were. Ideally I'd want to give "you can reset parent passwords / resend links" to certain people outside IT, but keep the "you can break SMH/SSO/Sync" restricted to IT.
  20. Who's currently (I've spotted a few old threads) using it and how is it to use from a parent / teacher / office admin / IT perspective? One of our schools is looking at it, but I'm leery of giving YetAnotherLogin to parents unless the utility/polish outweighs the faffing (on everyone's part). I'm at the DPIA stage and I've already run into the all-too-common "why yes, we do automatically sync with your source-of-truth, but we don't honour any data deletion requests from your source-of-truth" KB article, which isn't a great start. (Satchel:One/SMH reps - we're already speaking with you)
  21. We have an APC Symmetra (AP9619) in a 3 battery + 3 power module config (our load requires 2 power modules and at least 2 batteries, so we treat the third as redundancy). Runtime is ~25 minutes (or longer if we do some load shifting) because around here if the power's off for more than ~5-10 minutes it'll be off for hours.
  22. How much floor space is available? Or "is there a reason you're not simply getting a half-height rack with shelves for the tower servers?" I wouldn't leave servers sitting unattended in a plant room unless they were locked away.
  23. We give them notice of our intention to recycle if not collected, then we recycle after $date. But frankly the ISP / RBC are rank amateurs compared to VendorA and VendorB who sent us evaluation hardware (~5 desktops and 5 laptops) but never responded to the (repeated, ultimately via recorded delivery) "OK, we've finished testing - can you send a courier to pick it up?" communications. Near as I can guess a salesperson sent out the evaluation kit but never recorded they had done so and then left the company.
  24. If they touch a radiator / heating pipe beforehand does it still happen? We had a memorable user who built up an unreasonable amount of static charge throughout the day sufficent to cause strange behaviour in anything more complex than a toaster.
  25. Just checked and the last thing we got was Patch 26417 for dietary reports on 30/04/21. For filesets I only see 1801 from 12/04/21.
