  1. Log onto their website - it's downloadable for account holders. They also offer a hosted version now.
  2. Not seen this one - though I was wondering why google earth was so popular - what's the fix?
  3. That's a SID - the user name must have been deleted, but the ID remains. Every time you create a user a unique ID is created, that's what you're seeing.
  4. Surely the best savings in time and money is not to print anything, but submit work electronically?
  5. Probably - as I say, look for where you have the client set to run at logon.
  6. it's a long time since I used RMMC, but I think so - it's the section that effectively mirrors the GPOs.
  7. Right, in RMMC you must have a number of user groups. Look through them and find out where the Papercut client is being set to run at startup. You need to clone that group, remove the run at startup setting and put Y1 in that group, which will remove them from the other group.
  8. No you don't need to remove the client just stop it running for Y1.
  9. How do you deploy the client? Is it installed on the computers or run from the server? I'd look at how you've got it running at start up - is it a setting in RMMC you can move to a different group?
  10. I was just about to start working here. I brought the first Windows computer into the school - until I started it had 4 suites of Acorn PCs.
  11. It's a GPO setting
  12. @JRowley thank you - I can now log onto the client. All I need to do now is find out how to deploy that information to the 200 clients we'll have running...
  13. No, never been installed on site, but I think it's either a firewall or DNS issue - it works externally, so it's set up correctly
  14. I seem to remember something about certain file operations causing this - maybe the "compress to save disk space" one. If students run this on their files it puts their details in users on the server
  15. I've been tasked with setting up Lync. We have everything on-site at the moment, but have a 365 tenancy for office 365 Proplus. As Lync is available from that, my boss has asked that we set up Lync on-line. External DNS is set up, and I've installed the Lync client on my computer, however I'm unable to sign in. I assume I need to set up some internal DNS entries to point to the outside world, and probably open some ports on our firewall, but I can't find any information on-line - I'm probably looking in the wrong place - can anyone point me in the right direction?
  16. Kindle Fire also has the issue.
  17. Thank you, it would be a useful addition.
  18. is it possible to filter who is seen when the confide button is pressed? I'd like each year group to only see their Head of year.
  19. The call is with Dell now - they are sending out an engineer on Monday. I'll give them a chance to fix it before I insist on returning it - just one chance though. It's good to know it's a common fault though - I thought I'd done something stupid
  20. I'm looking for something on site, with the ability to add our search terms into it - we have a lot of EAL students, and I am developing quite a vocabulary of Polish swear words! We run an on-site Exchange 2013 server.
  21. Yes please - too many conversations going on at once in the office
  22. i use the app at home, but at work, when I've been asked to research something, and edugeek is my first port of call, it's easier to use the desktop version, and I now need to click on new posts, wait 5 seconds (else I get the "too many searches" error), then click today's posts - if that is as designed, I'm afraid it's a bad design.
  23. "What's new" no longer returns any threads I have posted in - I have to select "Today's Posts" to see those threads.
  24. Sixth form and staff have a quota of an hour a day for social media. The sixth form quota includes sites like youtube, staff have unrestricted access to youtube. KS3 and KS4 have no social media access.
