  1. In Server Manager go to Tools and select Active Directory Administrative Center. You can set the password policies per security group in there.
  2. One of my techies has lost 14 stone on Slimming World over the last year. I signed up with them this week. I just hope for some of his success!
  3. That's the item level targeting. For those machines that need a printer, but not an OU to themselves, I create a security group for each printer. I add the machines that need the printer to the security group, and then use Item Level targeting to deploy the printer to "computers in the security group xxx" Further, the gpp preferences GPO first deletes all printers, then adds the relevant one - otherwise user accounts carry the printers around from machine to machine.
  4. Sorry, Capita dialled in and did something.
  5. Thanks for that suggestion - the replica booted without incident, which has set my mind at rest. Still not sure what triggered a disk scan in the first place - there are no disk errors on the host, so it can't be a physical problem.
  6. Last night I remotely rebooted all my servers, having done a Windows update. My student server failed to come back up, with a message it was "Scanning and repairing drive E:". This is a hyper-v virtual server. Never mind, I thought, we replicate for just this eventuality, so I powered on the replica - which had the exact same error message. One restless night later, the scan has completed, and I have a working server, albeit with a "found.000" directory on the E drive. the event log is remarkably clear on both the virtual server and the host - no relevant errors I can find. So, what happened, and how do I prevent it happening again?
  7. Press and hold. We had 3 ipads all configured exactly the same, and only two showed the problem!
  8. I came across that the other day, and after some googling found out that if you press the home button when plugging in the USB cable you can then access the ipad.
  9. The easiest way to sell to SLT is the reduction in the power bills and space the servers take up.
  10. Worth bearing in mind - I had, as part of my testing, removed and reinstalled flash on any machine that was having problems opening the file, so hopefully I found the culprit.
  11. Some more information - it appears to be just this boardworks flash file - other flash files work. When I click on the properties sheet for the boardworks file it's blank

Bginfo works well on Windows 10
  13. Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm seeing this issue now on both Windows 7 and 10, running Flash 21 - any ideas?
  14. We are a secondary, with 1400 students on roll, and our database is 10Gb.
  15. As i understand it, personal data refers to the information within the work documents - so if a member of staff or student is identified, for example a differentiated lesson that mentions a special needs child by name that is personal data. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong
  16. Google gives me this for 2013 - a little more fiddly. https://nathanbrixius.wordpress.com/2014/03/10/beautiful-box-plots-in-excel-2013/
  17. Which version of Excel? It appears to be built into Excel 2016 - https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Create-a-box-and-whisker-chart-62f4219f-db4b-4754-aca8-4743f6190f0d

BGInfo is working, and setting the wallpaper as expected - I was so pleased I rolled it out to my Windows 7 machines as well, and removed the GPO which set the wallpaper. However, since doing that, students can right click on an image in their user area and "Set as Wallpaper", or use paint or IE to do the same thing. So how do I keep using BGInfo, as I like the extra information it provides, but prevent students from changing wallpapers?
  21. I can't find anything that will cope with the chatter in an average classroom - background noise is a problem with both Dragon and Windows speech recognition.
  22. yes, via GPO. It just works - I never had any problems - using LTSB.
