  1. Well technically Teachers are. Teachers, Police and Army are apparently the only ones. Or so I was led to believe. But I agree with your argument that there needs to be policy on who or what deals with the alerts when they come in.
  2. I know it will be very subjective but where does myconcern data sit in the context of a SAR. If there is an investigation or concerns about the parents, surely they shouldn't be able to get hold of it just because a SAR has gone in for the child?
  3. I've never had this issue. We have access direct to the SQL database and the API. I'll take a look at HUBMIS, sounds interesting. EDIT: Ohh, it is WCBS. I'll keep an eye but that does not fill me with joy.
  4. I was told that these were the features that were coming to the new Parent Portal. It was going to give so much more functionality and give a whole new level of interaction to Parents. & from the demo I saw it was the same as the old Parent Portal, just better looking and with widgets. I know they will continue to develop it and add more but it is too late for us, we have invested in an external system. iSAMS really need to get their skates on with development as they have been left behind. I'm hopeful if they keep to some of the time frames we were told about at BETT, but timeframes have a consistent knack of slipping with iSAMS. So we shall see.
  5. You are correct. £5.99 per TB per month. Still works out at around a 5th of the cost quoted. Trying to do too many things at once. I would say that will teach me a lesson, but it probably won't!!
  6. More than 6k for 25TB sounds expensive! As I said earlier, we are paying £5.99 per 5TB per month. Backing up cloud data I have gotten a Synology NAS with 66TB (RAID 6 down to 43TBs) for less than £6k, and that is a one off cost.
  7. Not built-in to the system? We tendered out for a new finance system in the last couple of years and this was one of our criteria, to have digital workflow from PO to sign off. The only manual ones I have to do not are the slightly complicated ones that span multiple areas. On digital signatures, we use Foxit, but I would presume it was down to Access what integrates with their system.
  8. We have 4 sites. A virtual SBC on the main one and a router phone at the other three, as none of the breach the 10 device limit, though we will have to keep an eye. We have also added a couple of router phones at other properties, including the new Yealink Wi-Fi cordless phone.
  9. Seen a demo, I've not had hands on and won't be. Not enough, nowhere near in time. I've been on at them to allow us to give parents a bank or utility provider style experience, to allow changes, view data and submit information for just under 10 years. The school decided to go to My School Portal instead.
  10. That is very interesting! I was previously informed it was not dead but not something that would be focused on.
  11. It is what we are looking at getting in place. I love the Smoothwall Firewall as it did me well but i have been told Smoothwall are not developing the Firewall. Fortigate looks fantastic and will give a lot more features and capability.
  12. Ok, apologies in advance for being blunt but, "If you haven't already sorted out your SPF, DKIM, DMARC" why the heck not?
  13. & then making it worse....
  14. Sorry, not sure if this has been reported already but edugeek.net, with no "www", returns a 503 error. No biggie but thought it might be either a symptom of something else or lead to further issues.
  15. We've had similar issues here. When I joined we had over 70 phone services, not including DDIs and a spreadsheet produced by an external company that listed them with cryptic notes. We have slowly whittled them down, finding a mix of old ISDN lines, lift emergency lines, alarm lines and lines that were cut but never cancelled. Check in boiler rooms in case there are any labelled sockets. Ask your provider if the can put a pause on the line (that isn't the technical term sorry, I can't remember what it is). This will not cancel the line but stop the service, allowing it to be started up again if it is essential. Makes a good scream test. If our place is anything to go by, the line will have been chopped out years ago but the account never cancelled!
  16. Would it be worth running a rope first, so flexible rods won't have as much load to bend, and then pull the cables back? (with second pull cord attached for future!)
  17. Does your helpdesk system have scheduled tickets? I have a range of tasks, like test back up restore, as tickets. They get fed into the system like any other job and you can track who does it and by when. Whoever does it can leave notes. Any issues are then raised as a separate ticket.
  18. Is Scomis dropping support for all other MISs then?
  19. What does the policy tester say if set to detailed diagnostics?
  20. As far as I remember, this is what we had. Open app, enter login details or SSO, and away we went. Didn't need any technical details, I don't even remember using the config file. Do they need the app, can they not use the web client?
  21. Have you got QUIC blocked as standard?
  22. We use Screen Connect from ConnectWise, you pay per concurrent connection so you could buy one per tech or share one if you know they are unlikely to be on a support call at the same time. Well worth it and served us very well over COVID supporting teachers (and parents) at home using personal devices.
  23. Ohh I was confused as well, thought you were talking about the Smoothwall one. Glad it isn't that one that is poop, though I was impressed you had it early!
  24. Ouch! I'm on the launch demo tomorrow so that is interesting to hear. What kind of thing is it finding that is flagging?
  25. On a local Smoothwall you can mark stuff as excluded. Just find the entry and hover over it, an exclude button should appear at the far right. Not sure if that is possible on cloud filter.
