Copilot can be made to do this if you have Studio. Point it at a SharePoint store and ask questions. We are looking at the possibility of that and making it so Pupils can ask questions of revision material and learning materials. Copilot is currently the choice as it doesn't submit its data for learning and respects tenant security and rules.

Could you not put the users in a group and exclude them? Or apply the policy to them?

This is an age-old question, should a LM be proficient in the area they are managing? At a certain level the answer is yes, but at a higher level the answer most certainly is no. It is up to the head of the department or line-managed to be able to articulate and persuade the Line manager their intentions or provide enough information that they will be able to explain at higher level meetings. Worse case, they should have the leadership abilities to be able to go to a meeting and say, "I have discussed this with IT and it is in hand". In this day and age though I am bemused at a school having a Head of computing manage the IT department, but as ever no judgement as you never know the history or the make-up of the school. I am still a strong advocate of the IT lead being on SLT but that seems to only happen in big Trusts or MATS now.

I got one of these approved - Navitek NT Pro Can't remember what we paid for it, think it was under this, but it has been well worth it. To check what switch a port is going to, what VLAN, IP assigned as well as test the run, is a massive time saver. Does POE checking as well and logs the jobs and can email them to you.

One question though. If schools don't meet these standards, by 2030 or at all, what will happen? Is OFSTED going to be checking, is the LA going to start looking? Will MATs and Trusts be held to account, fined, have schools taken away? I think it is great that we have some standards to aim for or exceed but what is the point of a metric if there is no risk or reward? Especially with budgets as they are and the usual "SLT says no"

Very similar. Veeam wraps up everything locally and then does a copy job to Wasabi for immutable off-site cloud backup. Synology backs up O356 and stores it locally, just in case. Same as you, kept having Barracuda et. al. contacting me about 365 backups and how MS could lose all our work and not care and our puppies would be stolen, my hair would fall out, flying monkeys would steal my lunch and no one would find me attractive ever again unless I bought their product. Bought Synology for less than 1 year's subscription and haven't looked back. We also have some nice onsite storage. Number of times I have had to get something from it? 0, piece of mind that I can now if needed, priceless.

As ever with this kind of kit, be very careful. It is consumer kit, not enterprise. You will end up with all sorts of niggles and incompatibilities due to it never being considered to be used except with a small IP range and a flat network. Even when they are supposedly enterprise the results are varied. We have had a heating control system installed that is meant to be enterprise. Doesn't like VLANs, can't talk across ranges and doesn't like being in warm areas, which is a slight flaw I fell in a boiler room.

One thing you may be hitting is I seem to remember someone finding the rules only applied after a certain time, or from after it was applied. Could this be the delay? I haven't been this specific with rules but I can look tomorrow and see if I can set one up.

What do you mean by extension password? What are you trying to achieve?

Never had that with 3CX, we have quite a few no user extensions. You only need an email if you want voicemail sent some where or someone being able to login as that extension. Just tried creating a new extension, just in case it had changed, and the minimum info needed is the extension number, which is auto filled anyway, and first OR last name. For me 3CX hits that perfect point of enough features and complication to do what we need without massive cost or the need for some complicate license structure. I moved the org from another cloud based system that was horrific and the whole team are so much happier and better equipped now on 3CX. Reddit has a love hate with 3CX, partners/suppliers seem to be 50/50 on if they like it or not depending on their soft skills. 3CX is known for playing a bit rough with its partners, chucking them off the partner programme for being less than complimentary. In the last couple of years there was a massive change, from v18 to v20 and all instances were forced to upgrade, this was of course the worst thing since sliced bread and lots of complaints as it wasn't just a click upgrade. Then when some instances ignored the deadline they then got shirty when parts stopped working after the deadline. Recently someone has claimed that any new customers will have to meet user limits for each simultaneous level, meaning it may no longer be cost effective for high user, low call situations, like schools. Last I saw this hasn't been confirmed or formally published, with some saying it is a guideline for proper sizing.

What are you looking for? If I'm on the right track you can just use Excel, but I'm assuming you want something more than that? What are you trying to achieve?

Oh totally, and this is the issue, there are lots of case studies to show, but I think the figures are a little over blown, if a single phishing email is headlined as a cyber-attack. The questions i have had in the past have asked for a single phishing email to be included as a yes to the question. it is serious enough, without blowing it out of proportion.

The issue with this is it doesn't have any nuance. I don't disagree that there is an issue around cyber security, especially in Education, but if this survey is like ones I have been asked to fill in the cyber-attack could be anything from a phishing email up to a full-blown ransomware event. We get phishing emails everyday, the majority are untargeted and stupidly simplistic, but it is counted as a full blown issue. Either comes down to fear mongering or sales marketing. Which is unhelpful.

This is an accountability thing. If someone isn't trusted to send things from the School account they shouldn't have access to it. You can set all the warnings and prompts you like but if someone is being dim and not paying attention it is going to happen and there is no way to stop that. I've setup the pupil warning DLP, we have our pupils using a different format of username, a different format of display name, a single user pic and now a warning that reminds them to check they mean to send it to a pupil. I guess you could setup a warning if there is an attachment. But staff need to be accountable for their actions and act accordingly.
