If they are creating generic wireframes or proof of concepts, then not needed. If they are populating data from your organisation that is classified as personal then definitely. If there is any doubt I would go with yes to cover the org.

I'd be careful doing this as it isn't going to prevent people going to your site and grabbing images or people finding you have them, but it will affect your placement for AI based search and could well have the effect of unintended consequences for the future. AI search is a big thing and although state schools don't have to be as aware or on top of it, you may want to at least have a low-level understanding of what you are potentially doing by changing those kinds of settings.

I used labels on MS Planner/ToDo for each site, just to make it easy to differentiate. You could create a plan per site, or have one plan and a bucket per site, but at least with labels you can have a bucket for hardware things and then filter by site. We use Projects in FreshService now and tag them in that.

I'd say this isn't the way to think about it. Unless you are in a sector that needs individual builds every time, consistency is the way to go, which, with all the will in the world, a Tech cannot guarantee to do every time. Being consistent is a massive tick in the security box, as well as being able to say, with confidence, that you can apply settings to all your PCs. It is also a management issue, how do you know that every device has that setting applied, has one been missed? Now none of this negates Intune being a bit slow sometimes, but I would try and move away from hands on all the time if you can, even if it is moving to GPO or an MDM product like Action1. You will be surprised how much time it frees up for you and your team.

Do you have a WebSockets exception category/group? I have found that is a solution more and more.

I don't know of any way to make a group of devices of a group of users, unless you code it and run it regularly. It would be a useful thing to have, though if you are 1:1 you could just dynamically group the pupils and apply to that.

We are in the first stages of this. We have been first or no names with pictures for a long time, with the added random order if a group photo. We have low-res images, and ensuring images aren't actually massive just shown as low res on the page. We've done a LIA and have added entries in our risk register covering it. New images are attempting to be far away, over shoulder shots or abstract if possible. Ultimately Marketing has said it would be too much work to not use pupil images due to their catalogue of assets and current campaigns. We are in the mode of minimise risk, but not eliminate it. One concern we have is that if we use AI models, or even the software that subtly adjust the images, there is still a potential reputational risk of those images being used, as they can be associated with the school. It is a very interesting one. How do you celebrate achievements without being able to show the participants or the achievement, especially in the very visual world we live in. How do you market a service without being able to show the 'product'

One thing I hadn't thought to consider is that IPv6 is set as higher preference on most devices. If you have no IPv6 DHCP set a bad actor could potentially spin one up and cause mischief. Yep, it would be a massive timesaver for the Sports Department, we are all for it. But their data processing agreement has lots of troubling stuff in. Either they have an Education specific data agreement they don't advertise on their website, schools aren't reading that, are Ok with that or a third option I can't think of.

Just wondering if anyone here is using Veo recorder in their schools and if they are, if they had any issues with the Data Protection side. We are going through it and their data processing statement has lots about data being sent to the US, interesting data sub processors, and that they take on the role of Data Controller to use the data for their own purposes. Our DPO is strongly against any of that, which I don't disagree with, but I know these are used extensively throughout schools and sports clubs so wondering how this aligns. I can't believe we are the first to notice this, but it feels that the contract is unworkable for a school.

I was sure we picked up the wallpaper from our website but it looks like we have it on a local share and it just picks up the file when it has connection. I think I will change that over the summer. Yes the name needs to be full path, with file extension. I can't see why it couldn't be applied to person.

We used the built-in administrative templates. Desktop > Desktop Wallpaper name Wallpaper Style Control Panel > Personalization Force a specific default lock screen and logon image Path to lock screen image Prevent changing lock screen and logon image We only apply one wallpaper to all and push these to the device.

It doesn't cover as many options as your Group Tag but don't forget there is the Device Category option.

But what could they be researching that would be blocked in school, as staff, that it wouldn't be legitimate to unfilter, or that they could use in school? Not trying to be awkward, but what it boils down to is why differentiate? If it is OK for them to look at home on a work device, then what is the issue them looking at it in school? Either your filters for staff in school are too harsh, meaning staff are more willing to research at home, or you want to allow them to look at questionable things out of work on a work device. I'd be more annoyed as a teacher if I did research at home, set up a lessons worth of tabs or links and then come in the next day to find I can't use them as they are filtered now on the same device. What if they do their 'special' research at home and bring their device in the next day and the tab left open tries to launch. Filtered or not it is potentially going to be splashed up for the pupils to see. Again, I would be careful creating policy or codifying use based on a personal use case outside of hours.

I'd warn him about using those terms as a benefit could be taxable. My question would be, if the barriers are unnecessary, why are they there during the day? Or to put it another way, what could they do at home that they can't do in School that would be acceptable in school?

They could just open the web client on their laptop and use their extension from there. Would be better paired with a headset but can use laptop mic and speakers.

We have tried to get them to just use digital cameras, but actually it is really hard to get the classic point and shoot basic cameras these days for a decent price. We have resorted to some cheap android handsets. Looking to maybe set them up as kiosk devices that the pupil can sign into and then have access direct to their OneDrive, and then it will timeout.

You have to be selective about what you monitor, but it works for us. The reverse question is how often are you being alerted or looking at network speeds/traffic on every single port of your switches? We have ping to each switch, to know they are up, and the external traffic port for the 4 sites to keep an eye on anomalies. We aren't monitoring every disk drive, but we have very few now, and even less that fluctuate wildly. Copiers we have set to let us know when toner reaches 0 to prompt a tech to go replace, and other alerts we pass straight to the copier team to service next time they are out, but that is all counted as one sensor, per device. Other sensors I have monitor number of admins in the server and local pc groups, as a canary in case of an attack, M365 services, alarm panel responsiveness (as we had a spate of them giving up communicating), certificate expiry, Backup status and the last of the CCTV DVRs. So pretty well covered, without being overwhelmed or fretting about every little blip. I do wish I could monitor network inter-links, to be able to pinpoint more easily where traffic spikes are coming from, but that is why I am looking at changing. PRTG has been fantastic to get something in, easily, and introduce monitoring to the team. Part of me would like to monitor all the things but I also know that the vast majority of the data would never be used or looked at, so why do it? It is about being proactive, we normally inform the Estates team that the electricians are running wild or that the power has gone out in areas before they know.

We use PRTG free, to keep an eye on switches, internet, internet speeds, copiers, and main servers are up. Hoping to have some time (ha ha ha) to move it all to something else, so we can monitor more, as the 100 free devices is restricting us now.
