Not wanting to go off topic too much but it will be interesting to see where these type of resources go. I think they are brilliant, Salamander user here, but looking to the future if we go serverless where does Salamander sit in our infrastructure? Would we have to keep an AD server just for Salamander? May have to wait to see which of them creates a fully cloud version to link cloud MIS to cloud AD.

A watch pot never boils. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Trite soundbites may sound good but aren't actually much use. It is a balance between security and usability.

We currently don't due to security concerns, as others have mentioned. But with M365 SSO and MFA I may relook at that.

We use CodeTwo Email Signatures for O365. Works really well and has all the options we need.

We use the inbuilt parent portal of iSAMS to publish reports.

Not suggesting it is a great idea but if you really need to save money you could ask them to run double cables but only patch and terminate one. That way you could later go round yourself or get someone to add them, just make sure they are well labelled. Running the cable won't cost much difference as they are already pulling one cable and cable costs pennies. I doubt there is much of a saving though.

Personally I would always kit a class out with a dedicated device, not necessarily a desk PC. So all our whiteboards now have built-in PCs, this way no matter what happens a class is setup for learning. We may move to laptops, we may move to tablets, we may move to BYOD but the class is set up and maintained. Who ever walks in can be up and running the same across all our classrooms. When I have dealt with staff moving devices and having to set them up and connect them to a board or projector there have been problems and the teachers have got annoyed. Slightly easier with USB-C, so one cable and no wrong way round, but I have still seen those cables destroyed, and teachers will huff and puff about wasting their teaching time to setup and the IT department run ragged having to visit many classrooms a the beginning of each lesson.

Do your pupils and staff have 1:1 devices? Or a plan to move to 1:1? No point pushing a digital agenda if there is no way to run a digital agenda.

We use Sharp and have done for a long time, we were with a 3rd party who got swallowed by Sharp and no major quibbles. We put it out to tender a good while ago and they came in significantly cheaper than anyone else. Some minor annoyances, things like the copier internal UI, but that is copiers for you. We use Papercut over the top so don't have to deal with the copiers directly much. They don't do a guaranteed 4 hour service as others do but I don't think that has ever left us high and dry, they are generally onsite next day if not by the end of the day if we logged it early enough. We do make sure we are proactive and book them to come in during the holidays for servicing. I don't think there really is anything new coming to copiers at our level except slightly faster (and even that seems to have plateaued) and cheaper. Papercut handles integrations and seems to be doing all the innovation.

Did you change the proxy port?

In regards to WandaVision, I do like the idea of short series to deal with origins and then films able to deal with the big stuff. Works for me.

I think if they are in the Exceptions list you should use port 801. The alternative is to add the destination into the Bypass Authentication content list (maybe called something else).

What I've done before is give myself manage rights to their Mailbox and then gone into OWA and edit the meetings. A pain but doable. Scripting I feel should be possible but it would be tricky as I'm not sure how you would identify individual meetings.

Yes, we have fallen foul of this. If you use KMS currently you will no longer be able to, you will have to ensure the machine is reset to the firmware embedded key. Also be aware you will no longer have access to Window images, you will have to use either Auto Pilot or the installation media creation tool.

As far as I am aware my account is the main admin for our site. It has access to the user accounts. Does it need more rights?

Many thanks Paul. Do we need licenses assigned to the portal before we can add devices? I'm in but no obvious way to add a serial number and license count is 0.

Our site team use the same helpdesk we do. Standardise and consolidate. I guess the question is, if Outlook is good enough for the IT team why isn't it good enough for the site team or vice versa?
