Here is a site that has an introduction to setting up a room in fronter Fronter – Part 1

I've used biometrics - all be it with a secondary school - it worked well but cost a lot to set up and to maintain the hardware (vandalism and failure rate) - there are some concerns around private information being stored (ie police checking fingerprint) that need to be explained to parents - it is not 100% accurate which can lead to frustration (ie if you can't log in with a password you assume you typed it wrongly and try again if it biometric you blame the system and call the network manager)

Do you have admin right for you Fronter building ? if so you can go to admin -> tools -> import configuration -> click on the import it should give you a URL about half way down "URL to use with the export web service:" if you copy and past that into a browser (why it is not a link !!) this will give you the date and time of the last import. It also let you see the percentage changes that raise suspicion with the data. I suspect that as the data is incremental and so if fronter misses one update that data is not resent hence the need for a full export

Flip Cams .. which do you use / recommend?
Face-Man replied to soveryapt's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We have used Flip Mimo HD and non HD. I've also had a look at another schools Kodak Zx1 I would consider the following points 1) If going for Flips get the mimo as these charge from the USB port and so you are not looking for batteries or charging stations 2) If Hard drive space is limited at your site and HD is not really needed then go for the standard 640 by 480 model as the files are smaller. 3) The Flips have no settings apart from Date and time so are very easy to use 4) They don't take stills so if that is required go for the kodak but that has more buttons to get used to so a bit more training 5) Have a policy about who is responsible for saving the video and to were. Once I get them back all the stuff is wiped and so the teacher's have to save what they want before returning. 6) Codec !!! if you install the Flip software which is on the camera it also installs the codec to allow video editing and playback in Microsoft and apple software. if not it is pain. 7) The HD software and Non HD is different and they don't like being on the same computer together. if you think of anything else PM me and I try and help -

It does get to smaller firms and I even have two friends who have done some training as subcontractors of a BSF firm but the big companies can always squash the smaller ones and demand lower prices. This is only good for schools if as part of the bid process the large bidder has been made to deliver value in the first place

Right I've heard that there are 9 non overlapping channels on 802.11N but I know from the stuff I've done on g that that only has 3 sets of 3 non overlaping ie 1,6,11 or 2,7,12 etc. As N use 40mhz rather than 20mhz how can it fit the extra channels in. Does it use the 5Ghz range in a unique way and how then can it then be compatible with g.
