Has anyone got WhatsApp working via SchoolsBroadband?
-
We had this to install. I think the DfE guidance changed so it may have been withdrawn.
-
I did. It was an app issue for sure.

Seems to be fixed now.

iOS app has signed me out and won’t sign in again. It says the forum is not responding.

If there’s easy access to soap and water I’d personally say that is preferable to using alcohol gel instead. Perhaps soap and water isn’t available in the classes which is why the supply of gel is directed there?

GDPR in schools vs gdpr.co.uk
Edu-IT replied to The_IT_Guy's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
Does GDPR.co.uk provide data maps for common suppliers? -
I meant Kevin, the 365 backup via Redstor. Just curious.
-
What does this cost? We use Redstor for FMS / SIMS and some files. Not had any issues.
-
I would hope schools continue to pay. That is certainly the guidance from the DfE, or was in the beginning anyway, to suppliers who may otherwise be at risk.
-
Not quite answering your question but it may help. We agreed with our provider to keep paying them 100% throughout and have had remote support and a few quick site visits. We don’t gain anything by seeing the small business go bust. We’ll get our time back in other ways in the future I’m sure. So you could approach your clients to discuss this.

There doesn’t appear to be a limit on either.

Do you regularly make 6 concurrent calls? If not, it might be worth starting with less with the option to expand as you go when you work out what you need.
-
This is on my radar. Not used it yet - but price wise looks fairly good. https://intelligencehs.co.uk/cloud-backup/ They're an Edugeek Sponsor.

If you are looking to run it in house, you need to question whether you have the knowledge to set it up in the first place and also whether you can support it ongoing (even if it is just applying updates etc.) or deal with any issues that arise. If not, you may need to buy in that support. Your telephone system will be critical to the school and you won't be thanked for saving a few pound if it goes wrong. How many handsets are you looking at? If onsite, are you running it over your existing broadband connection or a new one? What redundancy is there in any system you choose - or how easy is it to direct your numbers to a mobile?

We are backing up all our Sharepoint / Teams sites using Backupify. Just over £5 a month.

Schools Broadband In-line Filter down?
Edu-IT replied to snagrat's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Just a couple of questions? What happened during this hour? Why was it not escalated to the NOC sooner or did it take an hour for somebody to realise it was a NOC issue? Was this the same issue - flush of our IP rules upon the inline platform - or another issue? Reason I ask is if it's the same issue why was was it not resolved during the 10.15am interim fix or the 11.54am further fix? The RFO says 'and as such it was necessary for engineers to manually restore the IP rules from a backup' and therefore if it's the same issue I would have thought when the IP rules were fully restored from the backup it would have solved the issue? I don't follow the timeline fully and would appreciate further guidance on these points. Edit: As a follow up. From a technical point of view, if it was the IP rules had been deleted, could you not compare the IP rules from those in the backup against those on the platform to work out what was missing and narrow down the sites affected as I would assume those IP rules relate to specific sites? -

Ah. I see. Edit: I'd disagree a tad. 10.15am until nearly 5pm.
