Google IT Support Professional Certificate
hardtailstar replied to Bob_the_Goon's topic in Courses and Training
Finished the module 'Technical Support Fundamentals' over the weekend. Whilst I knew a lot of it already, some of it was a nice reminder of things id forgotten or not known about. Working on the next module now. Id recommend it to anyone either as a new person to IT or seasoned IT worker. -

We have the latest Chrome on computers but some of the legacy software we use in some departments does not work on newer browsers. The software itself hasn't been updated and we keep telling Staff to find an alternative for when we roll out Win10. Currrently Win7 with Chrome

Future Of 1p And 2p Coins Questioned By Treasury - BBC News
hardtailstar replied to 6Foot2's topic in General Chat
I save up all change including 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 and then put them into my bank. I only ever pay cash at the pub. Everywhere else I go I pay with card. I do keep £20 in my wallet in case a shop does not accept card.- 53 replies

Just tried accessing it and our LA has categorized it under 'Mature'. So you may want to check the site in a bit more detail. -

Staff training - data breach scenarios
hardtailstar replied to gh5000's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
You leave your laptop unlocked in a shared space in school with nobody you can see whilst you pop to the toilet. -
Also cut out fizzy drinks etc and drink plenty of water. Ive not had a fizzy drink this year and drunk mostly water. My skin is so much better for it too.

Not a problem, Get yourself a training buddy too if you can, that way you can motivate each other too. Also check in here too.

Use the app My Fitness Pal, I record all my eating and exercise in it. Walking and cycling are good for weight loss, but do core exercises at home like squats, press ups and sit ups. I have an app called 30 Days Fitness Challenge which takes you through core exercises. Ive not been to a gym at all this year, just been swimming, cycling and walking when I have had time. Ive not got any recipes as I tend to eat meat/fish and veg or soups. The key to loosing weight is a calorie deficit. Make sure you loose more calories through exercise than you eat.

@LeMarchand I signed up before my last school went to Academy, still using it since then and not been told my account is being closed. I now work in a school in an Academy trust but isnt a full Academy yet. Mind you I dont think our LA really checks anything as Im sure I know someone who hasnt worked in Education for years and still uses it.

looked into it before and this is what I emailed a teacher before. "It looks genuine but reading more into it, if you sign up then your details get passed onto the different ‘Perk’ websites when you access it so you will be receiving quite a few unwanted emails for the more ‘Perks’ you sign up to. This page on their website explains it https://www.teacherperks.co.uk/legal/your-data" Does your LA have its own rewards site? I found our LA rewards site had better rewards etc than the teacherperks and your data is kept safe.
