We still have a landline but that's because my parents still call family from that. I can't say I've used the landline this year to make a call. Everything is done via my mobile.

Leave notice periods and summer holidays
hardtailstar replied to VacantAccount's topic in General Chat
Whereever you hand in your notice to, Email HR, DHT, HT and Line manager if that is someone different to inform them where your notice is. As others have said, if you hand it in its not your fault when they read it. You could be upfront and say you are looking then they will know to expect it. -

IT Support department structure
hardtailstar replied to Rockpile99's topic in Learning Network Manager
Im the technician but there is only me and the Network Manager supporting 1200 pupils and about 250 staff. My skill set is a bit of everything but I mainly repair everything along with installs of kit and user support. The Network Manager does all the server stuff (except password resets and account creation) and any bits I dont have time for. In terms of skills/qualifications we both have. Network Manager 10 years in Education IT support as Technician and Network Manager, No degree but started on an apprenticeship. Self taught server knowledge. Technician (Me) 10 years in IT Support as a Technician, 2 years in Corporate, 8 years in a mix of different schools. College diploma, self taught everything else. I am actually older (only by a year) than the Network manager but we both have the same amount of years experience. -
We use intake year - Surname - initial. Eg. 18BloggsJ If there are two with the same surname and initial then we use the second letter. Eg. 18BloggsJo

Email disclaimer law
hardtailstar replied to mavhc's topic in Data Protection & Information Handling
Never understood disclaimers at the bottom of emails anyway! By the time you get to read it you've already seen the contents of the email. -
I havent sold Ipads at school before but make sure you get them to sign a form to say it is sold as seen and that you are not responsible for fixing any problems after purchase. No refunds given. Sold laptops twice before and once with the form, we got loads of laptops back for the repairs the first time and none the second with forms signed. You could offer your hourly rate in a conversation after they have signed the form if you are happy for that.

@RichCowell I used Chrome. But just opened it from the Edugeek app and Android opened the link external to Chrome. Both worked so you have two more votes

When I went to Sonisphere in 2009 they had the main stages opposite each other and if a band was playing on one the other was free. It was so good as it meant we didn't miss out on any main stage bands. Although it was comical walking back and forth with everyone.
