  2. Hi Rick, You must not have the required privileges over the other machine in order to be able to shut it down and this is not something we will assist you in attempting to, please don't insult us by pleading that the machines are yours and that you have permission to do this etc.... Thanks. Ben
  3. She could probably pick on up in china for about a fiver? Ben
  4. I would say ptz cameras are fine and can be used at time when someone is available to operate them but if you set them on an automatic patrol route you will miss action at the critical time. Ben

    Amazon Dash!

Yeah those promo shots made it look like you have a button for each product but the device itself is a wand that has a barcode reader and mic so you can either scan stuff direct or talk to it and the things you want are added to your basket. Ben
  6. Not going to work passive rfid cards need to be close to the reader in order for the chip to get energised some companies do long range tags for automatic doors but I would guess they are powered but still rfid frequencies are not the same as wifi. However this do seem to be straying off the original premise. Ben
  7. If the doors are held closed by maglock, card unlocks the door, door lock behind everyone, to exit you press a button. Salto handles same thing but inside handle always allows opening. Alternatively timed periods could be used so that door is re-locked at end of each lesson period. We used cards for multiple purposes, follow me printing, cashless catering & library as well as door access for staff. Charged for replacements for lost/stolen deliberately damaged/defaced cards. Ben
  8. We vlaned the cameras but 20+ ip cctv cameras on a 10/100 switched network with gig from core to edge switches all worked absolutely lovely. Ben
  9. Please keep on topic this is a thread about ID cards not students impersonating other students, if you wish to discuss identity theft please create a new thread. Ben

  12. If you have an enterprise PKI already setup then the device to which your users are connecting should have a subordinate CA certificate installed so that it can generate ssl certs on the fly to give to the requesting devices, because those devices will already trust your enterprise root ca they will trust your subordinate device. Simples. Ben

  21. Where is education going in general? is the whole delivery method of teaching standing in front of 30 kids really the best way to teach these days, 24/7 access to the information, follow the sun tutors available online, true anytime/anywhere learning. Brick buildings and staff only being used for part of the day cost a lot of money. Ben

The j4131a is fibre transceiver so without an active unit that itself converts fibre to rj45 then no, if the switches are in the same cab you can also buy a gigabit stacking module but you will need 2 one for each switch. Ben
