Just to update on this - Once the P440 controller is detected in Device Manager, you're good to go to shutdown the server and replace the SATA cable accordingly with the SAS/SATA cable connecting directly into the controller. Pressing F9 at startup, you can then disable on the onboard B140i controller as this is no longer required. The HP boot up sequence won't keep reminding you it needs configuring. I've performed this on - 2 x DL60 Gen9, updating a B140i > P440/4GB 1 x DL80 Gen9, updating a H240 > P440/4GB No re-configuration of RAID arrays was required! It just works as the RAID metadata remains on the drives themselves. Hope this helps someone else!

Not every year no - that's because I manage way too many devices.

Oh and Windows Firewall is now called Windows Defender Firewall... looks/feels the same on the surface.

One of the first things I noticed - Files on Demand only works with 1709, but isn't included with 1709. Who at Microsoft made that decision!? Talk about an oversight! As far as I can tell, onedrive.live.com still includes the 2016 version. Other observations - - Show People button (why do we need this?) - Why do I need Cortana to install Windows? - .NET 4.7 included as standard, as is the October patch. IE reads 11.0.47. - Control Panel is still there in all its glory! - Not amazed by Paint 3D, much prefer Paint.NET

Yep that's the one! -

This sounds like the classic 'wait for GPOs to complete' that needs to be specified, but this affects all flavours of Windows. -
Just been informed WHQL drivers for RISO will be released next month, so watch this space
-
How do you mean by bake exactly? I think the issue is (hypothetically speaking), after a Sysprep Windows re-detects all devices, but will once again detect that the driver is not WHQL signed, so won't automatically install it. The only possibility I can think of, is to install a cert which Windows recognises, (as that's what Authenticode is) - a driver signed by a CA, but I suspect Microsoft will want to enforce WHQL regardless going forward.
-
I've tested on a 64Bit instance of Redstone 1; the drivers will install with elevated rights, but on reboot, you're forced to re-add the printer and driver again. It's unworkable basically.
-
Thanks chaps - looking at a few websites, this is generally the procedure on how to install unsigned drivers - "Windows 10 enforces driver signatures by default. This can be disabled to install drivers that are not digitally signed. Use the following steps to disable driver signature enforcement. - Click the Start Start menu and select Settings. - Click Update and Security. - Click on Recovery. - Click Restart now under Advanced Startup. - Click Troubleshoot. - Click Advanced options. - Click Startup Settings. - Click on Restart. - On the Startup Settings screen press 7 or F7 to disable driver signature enforcement. Your computer will restart and you will be able to install non-digitally signed drivers. If you restart your computer again the driver signature enforcement will be re-enabled". Problem is, you'd have to do this per machine and it doesn't stick!? It's because the drivers are not WHQL certified which is the root of all problems.

Hi all, Has anyone successfully managed to get RISO's drivers working in a 64Bit environment? They're issuing self-certified Authenticode drivers which are not WHQL certified. Microsoft (reading up on things), are essentially making it mandatory for all drivers to be signed (moving forward), with each new edition of Windows 10. Just curious to know what my options are, or is it literally a case bouncing it back to them asking for them to be WHQL certified?

The GPOs are all 2008 R2/Windows 7 or later.

Microsoft can't expect Education/Enterprise to update twice a year, it's totally unrealistic. Until the current day you can download the OneDrive client separately, so I'd hope it'd continue. It just means the Fall Update has it as standard, which would make sense!
-
Hopefully they'll roll this out to all editions of Windows 10 - not just 1709.
-
One of my biggest issues it not being able to roll out OneDrive. You still can't use the 'source' as an existing mapped drive to sync up to OneDrive, yet you can Map OneDrive from the cloud. Makes absolutely no sense Microsoft!

You have a choice - run the software controller (free) on a VM, buy a cloud key controller (supports around 20-25 APs), or subscribe to their cloud service (costs about £200 a year).

Cloud GRS - 782GB of data backed up, three increments per day, costing approx £57 per month or £684 per year.

I use Azure Backup.

Neither solution is any good. If you look at the bigger picture, you're still going to need a physical or virtual instance per site. Both products are at the end of their life and the future of MIS systems is the cloud, there's no question of that. Chances are other solutions they're using are already cloud, such as Assessment and Safeguarding applications. Here's a good site to show what's out there

All iPads are dual band ready up to 'n' and the latest iPad Air 2 or later support AC. The Unifi solution is very powerful, but you're right, optimal positions in classrooms rather than corridors is key. - - - Updated - - - I have two at home as well and likewise, impressed with the performance!

Sounds like they have it all set to 'Automatic Approve'. Definitely not a good idea.

Wonde and Groupcall XoD are very similar services, but it's interesting a lot of providers seem to be looking at Wonde. I believe their API is simpler than Groupcall's, but then I'm sure cost also has something to do with it somewhere (just pure speculation). Either way, both providers are fully aware of GDPR - they don't have a choice, it will be the law.

Just curious what the logs are saying from your backup application. It may be useful, but it may be not. Especially error codes. Usually yes, it should log events in Event Viewer.
-
Be interesting to see what the logs are saying.
