  1. To anyone wanting to listen to that ear-molestation of noises, a word of warning:
  2. Haha, likewise! I sort of use it also to 'block' the distaction of the people who get too close/try to intimidate you on the road. It helps not being able to see them lingering around in the corner of my eye I'm not sure I could live without it now, I use it more often than probably needed. I think the only time I set it back is when I need to reverse.
  3. As much as I loathe my Corsa, the one thing it does have that makes up for it is one of those Anti-Dazzle rear view mirrors. Just twist the knob underneath and bam, I can still see the behind but it's dimmed it down - no more idiots in luxury cars getting up my rear with their lights on full power.. bleh, don't get me started on tailgaters...
  4. I know, I personally haven't ever used them though. But to be honest I've never seen them used for that purpose either. At all. I've always seen them used whilst it's been ' a bit dark' but not enough to compensate needing dipped beam, never seen them on a car while parked up. I don't mind DRLs, but as has been pointed out already, some people seem to think they're a replacement for their headlights. Not a good method!
  5. Don't forget it's while driving a 1.0l french car that has a spoiler/bodykit combo probably heavier than the vehicle, with an induction kit from Halfrauds to make it sound like they're in bloody Nascar. I've also noticed something quite odd in recent months: Normally when I've been at the front of a junction with two lanes at the lights, Joe Bloggs pulls up alongside, revs a bit, sometimes a few gestures given to me, then as soon as they hit amber he shoots off like a rocket's gone up his @r53. Now though, I always come across these muppets that wait until I set off - like they think I'm going to take off when they hit amber, realise I'm not moving until it's green, then when I pull off slowly they start to peg it. I don't understand what the obsession is with people to do this? I'm not going to race you, just get on with it and get a sodding move on!
  6. I already have my DRLs. They're called Side Lights, funnily enough they've been around for a very long time
  7. Well, we now know where Gene Wilder's incarnation of Willy Wonka lives. Christ that's purple.. MY EYES!
  8. Let's top that with a "Are you that much of a tw@ that you put your fog lights on for NO F*&%!ING REASON?!" poll..
  9. If only there was an option for "It depends on what mood I'm in." In all seriousness it depends on varying factors. If it's bad weather (rain, snow, ice etc.) and/or if there's a car in front of me at a close distance - I'll slow down. If it's a hot summer's day or 'neutral' weather and/or if there isn't a car in front of me within close distance - I'll maintain speed towards the lights. I've never 'sped up' towards lights, only accelerated if I've not been able to brake and need to carry on across. I only put my brakes on to ensure I stop if it's safe for me to do so - no point slamming the brakes on when they turn amber if you've already arrived at the line or if the car behind isn't at a clear enough distance - you have to take consideration of their reaction to your action. There's a perfectly reasonable delay between the lights on one side going red to the other side turning Red-Amber anyway.
  10. New thread, just make it obvious it'll be spoilery-ish. I'm curious to hear your theory as I'm sure others are.
  11. I highly recommend watching the minisode The Night of the Doctor. I literally screamed with happiness. That's all I'll say.
  12. I rang VM this May to tell them we were moving address. When they told me they couldn't provide any services to the area (6 year old area), the only option I had was to cancel. They demanded I pay a £182 cancellation fee for, and I quote, "not taking our services with you." - I can't quite understand why I'm being charged for not taking services that can't be provided. I even questioned the guy on the phone about this and asked him personally to think logically about it, and he couldn't give me an answer without changing the subject. I was left very disappointed. We'd been a customer since the NTL/Blueyonder days (2001ish) with no gaps, and yet when it comes down to money you're treated no different than an outsider. There's certainly no "Valued customer" status these days is there? I can appreciate cancelling a contract isn't just something anybody can do willynilly as companies have rights as well, and maybe it would've helped if I'd checked before hand - but I don't see why I should be penalised on where I live because I can't get my TiVo or Super-Throttled 100Mbps fibre optic broadband provided there. Absolutely mad. I had the last laugh though, as I never paid the £182 or the final bill
  13. The one thing I can't understand is how these flies/wasps/bees managed to get inside through the TINIEST gap possible, yet as soon as you open a window or door(s) they lose all navigational skills and can't seem to get back out again. Hate them I made the mistake of having my curtains open, window open and light on when it was pitch black - 3 moths tried to make a new home in my room, and even though it was gone 11 I wasn't going to bed until I got rid of them. OUT COMES THE VACUUM! (best defence weapon ever, especially with spiders.)
  14. .. Low usage charges? I've heard it all now.
  15. I got my free SIM last week! I found a working phone in the 'man drawer' so connected it with that, the deals are fantastic. How stable is the network, I see they run off O2?
  16. So my £40 a month contract (yes, yes.. I know. Stupid teen moment, even the BlackBerry was a choice which I'll regret for the rest of my life!) expires in April, but I'm not going to be renewing it as I don't have the demand for pretty much all of the minutes/texts/data given to me... that's basically a positive way of looking at the "lolforevzalone>:" stance I'm at now. PAYG all the way! After the fuss I've seen these networks make over it with some of my friends or have messed them around, I'm curious about what to expect. Are they a PITA to deal with when phoning to terminate it? Will they 'have no record of you phoning to cancel' and stitch you for another month?
  17. So these price hikes are happening before the new rule comes into place giving you the right to cancel..? Sly sods! We've not been with VM since May due to moving, but with the 100Mbps we had with them it spent half of its time being throttled anyway. I doubt it's changed much since, absolutely pointless - you might as well just stick with the 30 and be done with it. I'm with BT Infinity now (70Mbps so a downgrade but I've hardly noticed) and although I swapped the Home Hub for my own router (HH is quite locked down and very unstable, I've never had to turn something 'off and on again' as many times as I did with that.) it's been great, and not nearly throttled as much as our VM connection was.
  18. Titans as in BF2142 titans?! That alone will make me buy this game.
  19. It's been quiet recently so I've not been playing Online as much, instead I've been re-doing the story as I'm hardcore like that. On the plus side I finally, after wasting my week off grafting it, got some millions$$$ and nice cars and THE apartment! So I'm happy, but now have no reason to use the cars
  20. 10% here, somewhere around Bournemouth. So that's even more Southern than I actually am! Maybe I should start worrying.. Also, what was that jibberish within the first two questions? Something about sin bins and ducks and hats?
  21. Just curious to see who answers their doors to trick or treaters and who doesn't. I personally don't, and won't ever, and wish common sense would apply to some people (if I've not answered it means I haven't got any treats so see no point in opening the door to give false hope to your children, so there's also no need to shout abuse or calling me a "spoilt sport ") or at least adopt a "No decorations/no lights = no knock" rule but I'm just an anti-social 20 year old grump bag. What have you all been doing?
  22. Xbox, iron my shirt. Xbox, watch TEEVEEE Xbox, go back to the game I was playing but then left to watch a film because I'm that much of a kn*b to other players and like to ruin the game by leaving half way through key parts Xbox, get me a bee-- NO, F**K YOU TOM - YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME! XBOX XPLODE! *boom* ^ I can't help but think that's how it'll pan out for the people who get all tingly down south over voice commands. I mean seriously, how hard is it to press a button.
  23. Content licenses are stored/linked by console, not account. If you've downloaded, say, Halo 3 on your console - all of the gamertags/'profiles' stored on that console will be able to play it. If you then have a new console, you will need to transfer your content licenses (instructions in link below,) to that console - otherwise it'll only be the account that bought/activated the download of the game that can play it. Source: Digital Rights Management | Xbox Licence Transfer | Xbox DRM - Xbox.com ------------- As the others have already stated, the main thing to watch out for when letting your children within the 'online realm' of Xbox 360 is the communication features (Voice Chat, Messaging etc.) A solution for that is to disable/block them: Xbox Home > Settings > Privacy > Change Settings > Customize. You then have the world at your fingertips, and can set various features to Everyone, Friends Only or Block. Alternatively Xbox have been helpful to provide presets (Adult, Teen, Child) and lists all the Allowed/Not Allowed to the right for you within each one - I think you have to select them first to see the changes listed. Hope that makes sense and clears up any concerns or questions for you @Dos_Box and more to the point I hope your children have fun playing on it, a lovely present for them!
  24. This is the part where @Sunnyknight goes mental. I'm off from now (finished early today, thank god.) until 4th November but only because I managed to book it off (I'm full-time,) haven't had any time off this year (2013, not 12/13 academic year) since February so it's a well-needed, well-earned break for me
  25. I couldn't help but read this and think of the scene in Snatch with Mickey on about the caravan. "It's nah feh me, it's feh me maaa" Why not a nice piece of jewellery? Something she'll be able to keep for her lifetime. Or even those places that do professional photos? One for just her, one for all of you as a family together? A picture speaks a thousand words sometimes
