Scan - http://www.scan.co.uk - great systems, I've had my previous two home PCs and two school office PCs custom built from there, but they do pre-built too.

[website] UK Bank Holidays 2018/2019 .ICS File

If only there was one that showed all the regions' various school holiday dates! -
Very sad news, and a huge loss to the world... Also sad, but unsurprising, that most obituaries overlook his huge contribution as a campaigner for progressive causes. Hopefully this is allowed here - apologies if not: If you want to commemorate his departure, please consider giving to his campaign to seek a judicial review against the UK government's planned privatisation of healthcare. https://www.crowdjustice.com/case/jr4nhs-round3

My school's recently bought into Hegarty Maths, which uses Wonde, so I've been through the process... I got an email from Hegarty Maths (email address provided by the head of maths) notifying me that they use Wonde to sync data, and that I would hear from them directly. I got an email from Wonde to explain and to schedule the installation, which went as planned - they have a portal to show all the software linked to your school and which data it uses etc. - he said something about that not being available for all yet but it's being rolled out. I can't comment about how secure everything is at their end obviously, but as far as the installation / experience goes from my point of view, it was really quick and painless...

NetSupport Notify will allow you to let all staff send that notification - although I've not heard of anyone allowing all staff to trigger them before - it's simple enough to do, and you can set it so the machine name is included in the message so you can see where it was sent from. It can also be triggered with shortcut keys, so they can be sent without having to open software / consoles and type / paste messages etc. Email wouldn't be great as it relies on staff having their emails open and them seeing the email come in (most teachers at my school have disabled the popup alert because of privacy issues), so they often don't see emails until between lessons... Definitely +1 for NetSupport Notify...

Monitoring/Safeguarding/Key Logging Tools
RichCowell replied to ChrisERoots's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Don't let false positives put you off - I would be more suspicious of any software that didn't generate them (or many) - especially when reviewing on a trial basis... some terms can be tweaked to help, but to ensure a comprehensive level of monitoring, by the very nature of the type of content you're monitoring, there are loads of ways of saying things - some of which are going to affect completely innocent terms or uses too... -
Voted for two, though I'd always try to get there wherever it is

+1 for NetSupport Notify - does exactly what you want.

Microsoft Excel 2016 - Stuck on Loading Splash Screen
RichCowell replied to Bradcooper's topic in Office Software
We've had that occasionally, disabling add-ins has always resolved it for us, so I've never looked into it any further than that... -
I can't blame them (or anyone) for starting to charge for the software, they put a lot of time into developing it and introducing new features, and that has to be paid for somehow... You could always use use other third party solutions, or just Microsoft Ink with PowerPoint / Word etc. and not use SMART Notebook / SLS at all, but that's not as good for some things... We'd been using V11 up until last year, and then made the move to SLS, but going to see what it's like in basic mode before renewing the licence.
-
I think it's one licence per user (SMART Account linked with their email address) rather than per board now... But you can use it in basic mode after your licences expire - other than the fancy collaboration features and games I'm not sure which features you lose doing it this way, but it will display a watermark, the same way I think it does when you use the software on non-SMART boards.

Yep, I'll be there all four days, looking forward to it as usual...

Not had this issue, but I've had to contact their support a few times, always been impressed with their support, and the speed they get back to you: [email protected]

Have you tried emailing? I'd try the following in this order: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]

Seems okay to me, loading quickly and with images/CSS... Down For Everyone Or Just Me - Check if a website or site is down. is worth using when you're not sure...
-
Gutted! I hope they get it sorted - mine's on order!

+1 for this, we got it from the same company probably 6 years ago now and it's been fantastic... Their support has been great too when we've had issues (database after an upgrade and with Windows 10).

You could try going straight to the top: https://www.linkedin.com/in/george-grima-666b3026/

On a similar note (and hoping this is allowed as it's not exactly promotional, but could potentially benefit anyone looking to buy): SMART are running a 2 for 1 offer until the end of September for SMART Learning Suite exclusive to ANME members - The ANME isn't a reseller, and has no financial gain from this - you just get a code you can use with your preferred reseller - so can still deal with @VeryPC etc. Join | Association of Network Managers in Education ANME

Online reporting of safeguarding concerns. How do you do it?
RichCowell replied to pete's topic in e-Safety
We've just started using CPOMS after a recommendation from @ticker - I've had nothing to do with the setup, other than adding a shortcut for the staff to the site, so that definitely gets a thumbs up from me... The Safeguarding team are all really happy with it too... CPOMS: Safeguarding and Child Protection Software for Schools -
It's a joke... Accessing one code through the portal, but having to download ALL the others in a zipped CSV to get them?!? It's such a faff... then needing to generate another code if someone uninstalls and reinstalls the app while trouble-shooting - not a rare occurrence, annoyingly, but has been the only option that's worked on several occasions... it also shows staff in the list that left donkeys years ago, so we have to trawl through a massive list to make changes... It's so very poorly thought-out... We've got some doing the same - not quite as nice on a tablet, but it does do the trick...
-
We've had the same as @RLR - we only use it on iPads, and it's been a nuisance with teachers moving to different areas of the school... Again, enabling offline working has helped, but it's still not great... Nothing about the SIMS Teacher App is great IMHO... especially the admin side of it... it's just a complete pain in the backside...

That's one of the things I like to debate, I'm definitely of the opinion that it absolutely should not just be left up to the Network Manager / Technicians to monitor the violations and alerts - unless that person has had the full safeguarding training, and is kept up to date with all the goings-on about current concerns, at-risk/vulnerable children etc. - there's too much chance of things being missed or overlooked. That is how we did it here initially, but changed several years ago and it works SO much better now. Out pastoral team consists of 6 main people - the heads of year and a member of SLT that sits above them, the heads of year receive all the alerts etc. for their year group and act accordingly, ignoring false positives and letting me know if there are any regular ones so I can see if anything can be changed. The DSL have access to the full logs, so they can go in and see all the alerts for all the school.
