  1. Has anyone seen this on Kickstarter? Hex Hex: A copter that anyone can fly! by Benjamin Black — Kickstarter Looks pretty cool and heavily customisable.
  2. I really want a T-Shirt - can we have a mini competition to win a T-shirt? In anticipation of you saying yes (you have to my other suggestions!) here is my entry for the currently fictional T-shirt winning competition: http://gifmaker.me/PlayGIFAnimation.php?folder=2013100806nxIaEE0TwzX2Xvf5vCy2sT&file=output_1ApsJG.gif&music=http://youtu.be/PqEAvXbm1no&start=0
  3. I want a T-shirt, I want a T-shirt, I want a T-shirt, I want a T-shirt, I want a T-shirt, I want a T-shirt!
  4. Is the share that does work on the same server as the shares that don't? Do you have more than one GPO that controls the shares that don't work? Its possible you have a GPO conflict. Try running the Group Policy Modelling Wizard. And here's a seemingly random one but if you've tried everything else then its worth a look: Is the time slipping on the laptops to a point where it is outside the tollerance of the server the share is on?
  5. I have Sophos v10.2 and ABTutor 7.15 and it works fine. I *was* going to upgrade to 7.26 but maybe I'll just do one trolley load of laptops and see how it goes... Sorry, I know that doesn't help you much right now, but I'll let you know how I get on.
  6. A lot will depend on how you are mapping the drives. Are you using group policy preferences? Have you got the Client Side Extensions installed on the XP laptop? When you map the drives manually are you including /PERSISTENT:YES ?
  7. Glad you liked the joke. Maybe the next mini competition could be jokes that are funny enough to make Colin_M laugh in his current state of pain! What do you think @VeryPC Al?
  8. http://youtu.be/PqEAvXbm1noAm I the first to post a video?
  9. Does this deserve a bonus entry? I know, I know, I didn't create it, but it is very funny!
  10. Maybe a mini competition to see who can do the best Morgan Freeman impression?
  11. You imply that Ofsted have a clue!
  12. Just wondering what the significance of the coloured pins on the map is - do you start off red and work up through the rainbow depending on the amount of orders places with VeryPC?
  13. I think Emma should get her own spin off competition. If you run it next month you could call it NovEmmer or NovEmmber or summat... Ok, sorry - I'll go get a coffee and have a re-think
  14. Do it! I've just got 4 new Broadleaf Access PCs and they are the bees knees (very cool laser etched school logo on the front)
  15. I've had similar issues with Samsung and Fizzbook netbooks taking minutes rather than seconds to log on and off. Doubling the RAM to 2GB made a massive difference, as did re-installing Win 7 pro with the bare minimum software, i.e. Office 2010 Starter and anti-virus software. Now they are usable, but not amazing by any standards. I would get a 2GB stick of RAM and try it in one of the netbooks and see what difference it makes. Just make sure you check the netbook can take a 2GB stick. If you can afford an SSD you could also try that but the RAM will most likely give you the best boost for the money.
  16. Well I've run into my first issue with Office365 and LLN. In Office365 I can receive email from anywhere else, just not from a LLN email address. I've logged a support call with LLN Servicedesk... Has anyone else come across this?
  17. Come on Al - we're all on the edge of our seats with excitement and anticipation... I've stopped unpacking the shiny new Broadleaf Access PCs that just arrived, just so that I can watch the first Stocktober video!
  18. So who would play the part of Beaker? And does that mean that Very-PC headquarters should be renamed Muppet Labs?
  19. Now that gives me an idea.....
  20. Couldn't resist: Should I withdraw my entry now?
  21. I too have a Windows 7 Pro image. I never did get the screen to rotate, even with the drivers supplied by Zoostorm technical support. It just refuses to move. However, I find this is actually an advantage as I don't get called to sort out upside down screens all the time. If you really want to rotate the screen when in tablet mode, you can use the CTRL-ALT-DOWN shortcut. Just remember to turn it back again before shutting it down. I just put Win 7 Pro, Office 2010 starter and ArtRage on our image to keep the size down. I also upgraded the RAM to 2GB which has improved them no-end, however they still aren't as reliable and I frequently have to re-image them when the Office 2010 installation corrupts itself.
  22. I got 147 - i'm blaming this cheap Philips LED monitor.
  23. This leads me on to another issue. One domain or two? As all LLN schools were originally configured with two domains, one for Admin and one for Curriculum, and have a CISCO router to separate them, (which I assume LLN will want back) what are you doing about your domains when you leave LLN?
  24. We are going down the Office365 route as well. I saw the SSO option, but haven't decided as yet. From a security point of view, we all know what certain members of staff can be like when it comes to leaving themselves logged in to a computer and walking away...
  25. 168 posts on this thread and its not even October yet! Somebody is getting excited... (169 posts including this one)
