  1. Ah, its all coming back to be now (we've had ours for many months). I don't think you can make it fill the top. Instead, use a transparent .png file for your logo and select from one of the colour fades in the Preferences page - that's why ours has the sky blue across the top.
  2. All images used by the portal are in that location, yes. Actually, I've just remembered the only image that isn't stored in that location is the logo which is displayed at the top of the page. I can't remember where it is stored but to update it you have to use the Orange Preferences button at the top right of the portal designer page. Make sure you have run the spiceworks backup before you start and you should be fine. If no-one is using the portal yet anyway then only you will know if you mess up!
  3. No, I used custom HTML in each content block. I edited the images so that they were all using the same size blue box to keep it looking consistent and used a tags to get them aligned correctly e.g. this is the HTML for the row of icons across the top
  4. Santa and the tooth fairy (and the easter bunny) are the main reasons I never have any money. I'll be pleased when my girls are all old enough to know the truth...
  5. Its simple but staff and children can use it so it does the trick.
  6. There's a quite a bit you can do to alter the appearance, but its not that straightforward. You can use HTML in the content blocks and once you start adding a few images in it can look pretty acceptable. I use it for our 'portal' in school and it does a pretty good job - let me know if you want a screenshot. Here's one article that goes a step further to creating your own custom helpdesk - it is pretty good but needs updating to the latest version of spiceworks: Custom Help Desk Portal Code (v6) - Script Center - Spiceworks
  7. Get Papercut installed. Even the free version lets you monitor who prints what, when, how many pages, copies, colour or grey etc... We've printed just over 11K pages this month - I.e. in 9.5 days! Its only going to get worse once the SATS practise papers start being printed for the year 6 classes.
  8. Nice, although iDaft on the iPad is better - and has Technologic as well! https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/idaft-2/id311671506?mt=8
  9. Hi Dom - welcome to Edugeek. Don't worry about being new - we all were once upon a time. Its not about always knowing the answer to every problem, but knowing where to find help. Edugeek is a great place to talk about problems and find solutions.
  10. My socks have arrived! BIG Thanks to @VeryPC Al I've given them to @JoshuaHirst I wonder what competition I can devise today...
  11. We're with Exa and are very happy. No major issues and any queries are always responded to very quickly. They've just delivered us some nice leaflets on how our content filter works for us to give to parents on SaferInternetDay next week. PM me if you want to know more.
  12. Yes, yes, yes! Get in there! I just won a pair of socks for my new apprentice, Josh! I wonder what other mini-competitions I can start and win myself today?
  13. I've just dialled the number so its ready to redial at 10 on the dot. Good luck everyone.... Euk - what a horrible generated voice!
  14. Oops - sorry Al and Will, what have I done?
  15. Maybe the first 10 people to get through to Al could win some more VeryPC Socks - my new apprentice wants some...
  16. After imaging, does the PC get an IP assigned from the DHCP server or does it have a static IP set? Check your DHCP server to see what IP addrs have been leased.

  19. Best snack ever... Toasted currant teacake, with jam and Cheshire cheese* *Can be any crumbly cheese, but has to be crumbly like Wensleydale or Caerphilly.
  20. Techno cows! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDUt07f1YjA I'm a cow
  21. I should be making an EduDog but EduCow seemed to take over...
  22. I agree with @sted - Onedrive for business just isn't designed to work this way. The hardest part for us is getting staff used to a new way of working with files that are stored online, rather than on the server. Dragging a file onto an area of an internet explorer window is a very foreign concept to a lot of people who have only just got used to saving things in their home area. But those that keep on with it do eventually love it when they can access their files anywhere using Word online for simple changes at home and full Word when in school.
  23. Well done everyone - the power of edugeek (or EduCows!) Now lets get back to EduDogs...
