Its not the not winning that I'm sad about. Its mini-Madvent. Its just not the same... How will we persuade @Gonk to write the theme tune, sing the theme tune without the lure of a bonus entry?

I is sad :(

I suppose if you could get to the settings menu you could just turn off Auto Iris! Have Epson quoted you £500 or are you guestimating? Seems pretty high to me. Give AV Partsmaster a go - they're my go to guys for projectors. Repair Form

Smart board not aligned, what to try?
hallb15 replied to talksr's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
There is no reset button on the SB480/SB500. The only way to reset it is to unplug the USB cable. http://downloads01.smarttech.com/media/sitecore/en/support/product/smartboards-fpd/400400iv600iv/guides/guidesb480usersv10jul12.pdf Has it just started doing this recently? If you've installed newer software, which is highly likely given the age of the board, then updating the firmware is probably your next best bet. Have you tried using the shortest USB cable possible connected directly to a laptop? -
Its quite like Bauhaus 93 with an outline. Or Blippo: blippo « MyFonts

+1 for Powershell It seems a bit backwards at first to be running command line instructions for a web-based application, but powershell is really very good once you get used to it. I use this powershell command to find out who isn't using their Office365 account. https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Export-Office-365-User-7fc0b73f -

Do you have Sophos Enterprise Console on the server? If so, open it then look for your Policies (on the dashboard they are in the bottom left) and find the Device Control policy. Double click to open it and look for Removable Storage. That's the one that relates to USB. Theres also Secure Removable storage for, you guessed it, secure USB devices.

I've never had any dealings with Impero but there was a thread on here a while back about their sales techniques http://www.edugeek.net/forums/behind-red-door/129802-high-pressure-sales.html Why not get the free trial of ABTutor, install it in your ICT Suite and monitor your systems for any speed/performance drops.

Have you tried Ross at VeryPC I don't know If he has an edugeek account but you could give @VeryPC_Colin_M a shout and ask... Yes, they make ace computers, but they've also supplied me with several other ICT bits n pieces...

Make sure you dig deep enough so it is protected from small animals chewing through it (yes, they will chew anything!) and its good practice to put warning tape in the soil between the cable and the surface so in years to come, anyone digging up the ground will not cut through your network cable. Same here. We've never had any noticeable speed issues with ABTutor. I got it a few years ago after having various problems with SmartSync. We haven't looked back since!

I just spotted this on Amazon. 30M of waterproof, direct burial CAT6 Ethernet cable for £12.99 - order it and get digging! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Multi-Cables-CAT6-20m-Outdoor-waterproof/dp/B00EOTHCAO/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1416305458&sr=1-1&keywords=waterproof+ethernet+cable

Can the Cisco APs be used in bridge mode? You said you had way too many so could you use two as a bridge from the nearest hardwired building to the hut you're trying to reach?

TTS Easi-View Visualiser Focusing Issue
hallb15 replied to Harry1980's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We have loads of those visualisers in school and they all experience problems at one point or another. I've had focus issues but never been able to pin down a solution. Sometimes after a rest, they resolve themselves. You can try pointing the visualiser at a wall over a metre away and focussing on that, then moving back to close up and re-focussing. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. There's mention somewhere (maybe on Edugeek but I couldn't find it with a quick search) of artificial light affecting these (and other) visualisers. If possible, can you try it with the lights off and the built in lights on? -
Smart board not aligned, what to try?
hallb15 replied to talksr's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Before you try updating the firmware, have you tried the reset button on the right-hand side of the smartboard - its pretty small so can be hard to find, but it is there! Press it in and hold it in until the lights on the pen tray start to flash, then let go and wait for it to do its thing. Then to orient the board and software, press both buttons on the pen tray at the same time and the windows orientation should come up. Use the pens to orient, not fingers. -
We use Mathletics here and the children love it. The best part is the competitive element as they can compete against other members of their class or other schools in the country. Its all online so there's nothing to install on your server/workstations, and the maths department can administer the children's passwords online so you shouldn't need to get involved. I've not tried the other two you mention so can't comment, but we're on our third year of Mathletics here and still going strong.

I've got the same Kenwood amp as you! Brings back memories - mine's in the loft somewhere along with the Wharfedale Delta 30s I used it with. I bought mine as a teenager from the tape recorder center in Halifax many, many years ago. Its not there anymore, and I suppose it would have to have changed its name by now to keep up with technology!

Still waiting for my socks - I might have to take off and wash these ones if the VeryPC ones don't arrive in the next week or two!
