Trouble is, I don't know exactly when this was but I'm sure whoever did it has already tried the USB receiver and found out that its useless. I've put out a general appeal and asked for it to be returned to one of the USB ports of the PC in question.

The Logitech spares shop sells the receivers online so they must be universal, and not paired with the original device. However, they cost £10 plus a staggering £8.95 for delivery so I might just leave it for now - its taken weeks for anyone to report that the presenter wasn't working so I doubt its used that much.

Somebody has removed the USB receiver for our Logitech R400 presenter from the PC that staff use in the hall for assemblies etc... What puzzles me is that they left the presenter itself, and just took the USB receiver. The presenter has a laser pointer so I would have thought that would be a more attractive thing to take. I don't suppose the opposite has happened to another Edugeeker and they now have a useless USB receiver that they want to donate to our school??

That means your PC is only on a 100Mbit connection to the server and NAS, whereas the PC in the ICT Suite has a 100MBit connection to the server, but a GBit connection to the NAS box. That sounds like a strange setup to me so I think you need to start checking your switches to see what spec they are. In a small school you can still get away with 100MBit but realistically GBit should be the minimum these days. Perhaps you could draw a simple network map to help identify where you might be getting bottlenecks.

When you get the error, is that after you've tried to Sign in to Office 365 or does the sign in page not display at all? It could be a firewall/proxy/filtering issue. Who is your internet provider and what filtering do you have in place?

If you share it with two people, does that make it a problem quartered?

I don't know what access you have to your domain - do you have FTP details or is there a CMS front end you have to go though? Can you save all the required documents as PDFs then upload them to the website and link to them from one 'Documents and Policies' page? Might be a bit clunky but would do for now until your new site comes. Have you already found someone to build your new website? If not, I can recommend someone!

Yawcam. Very simple to setup. Basic features but works well.

If you can ping the server, but not access the share, then that sounds like a permissions issue. The user you are logged into the laptop as must have the correct permission to access the share on the admin server. Do you have an account on the admin server with admin rights? If so, check if the correct curriculum staff users have been given access to the shared folder on the admin server. If you don't have an admin account on the admin server, you're going to have to ask ICT Services to check this for you.

I think @witch has probably hit the nail on the head. The laptops will probably have to have static IPs within a specific range in order for them to 'see' the admin server. The traditional trust relationship setup, in Leeds schools at least, was to allow only the top 32 IP addrs in the curriculum range to see the admin server. You said you could ping the admin server by name, but didn't say if this was from the laptops in question. They must be able to ping the admin server. I think @jotland was suggesting using a script to map the required drive letter and passing the correct login credentials to the admin server in that script. I would ask your ICT Services what IP addr you should be using for your laptops, set them up and then let ICT Services know so that they can perform the install - afterall, they are the ones who will be supporting the use of SIMS on the laptops so they should be keen to get it installed in their preferred way.

I'm also looking for some SharePoint training. I want to get the most out of Office365 and would like to setup sites for Staff and Governors to allow collaboration and shared resouces. OneDrive for Business isn't working well for us and I feel SharePoint is the way to go but am a bit lost as to where to start.

Yes, they can be a right royal pain - just look at all the other threads on this forum! I'm not aware of a limit to the number of iDevices you can connect to one iTunes installation. You can use the same appleID on many devices so you could create one appleID for school and use that on all 13 iPads. There's already lots of info out there about ways to configure multiple devices on the same appleID. This is quite a simple one to read to get you started: iTunes 101: Multiple Devices, One iTunes Account — Tech News and Analysis I think you should find a supplier who is willing to loan you a couple of iPads for a trial period to see how they work with your current infrastructure. You can then get a feel for how easy/difficult it would be to manage multiple units. You'll also get an idea of the quality of the free apps that are out there, and decide if that's really what you want. You could try Academia.co.uk - we borrowed 3 iPads from them for a month last year. It really helped us and in the end we decided we didn't have enough budget to get everything we would need to make it work for us. If you do decide to go ahead and get 13 iPads, a cheap mac mini is an excellent idea - bear in mind you'll need a monitor etc (or use a KVM switch) You don't necessarily need to get the latest iPad Air, a 4th Gen iPad with retina display will be significantly cheaper and the money you save can be put towards buying the right hardware solution or better apps.

Apple configurator is an Apple only application - there isn't a windows version. -EDIT @Joanne beat me to it! 13 is a large enough number to be a complete pain to manage just using iTunes, but not really enough to warrant buying a MacBook to run the configurator. How are the iPads likely to be used in school - by staff or pupils? If they are for staff, its probably best for you to have a good AUP, explain what staff can and can't use the iPads for and just let them manage their own apps. For pupils, that's a whole different ball game. Look at MDM from Meraki or Spiceworks if you already use it (both free). Either way, you've got a lot of work ahead. It would be a good idea to speak to an Apple specialist or good supplier to see what they recommend.

No, you can't simply sync a local shared folder with Office365. I wish you could, but it isn't designed that way. I have a similar situation here. The staff shared area is a mapped drive on the local server, but they can't access it from home. I think HAP+ might do what you want, but I've no experience of it as yet - I'm just starting to look into it. There's plenty of threads on here about HAP+ or Maybe give @nickbro a call.
