Try as I might I can't get our oooold CP130's and CP135's working with Windows 10 1903. They worked on LTSB 2016 (1607) but there must've been enough changed that it's a no-go now. And since they're proprietary, you can't just use ditch A+ (or Sphere) and switch to FOSS software, 'cause it can't interpret the camera feed. We gave up and bought a bunch of HUE Visualisers, which work over uPnP so you can just use whatever software you feel like. (We actually ended up using IPEVO's software since we own some of their visualisers, too. I can only assume they're uPnP too)

Oh blimey, yeah, NVidia are certifying select FreeSync monitors as being G-Sync compatible. I'd forgotten about that.

Wow that's actually a great price. Though, you said you had an NVidia card. I didn't think they could utilise FreeSync?

Reg key certainly makes adding them manually much more seamless (i.e. going to the print server, finding your printer, and choosing Connect) Used to be it would connect and would show in the list of printers in software (word etc), but if you looked in Devices and Printers, it would be in the section below your printers (I forget its name..) with the little 'setting up' black and white clock icon. It would stay that way until you rebooted. Now they add properly more-or-less instantaneously. But they're still not always there..

Moana One of those films that I liked the look of when the trailers dropped, but just never got around to actually watching. Fantastic film, I see why it got the amount of praise that it did. Though I kinda feel that a certain, non-human, non-solid, not-really-a-character character could have cut out half the movie (or even done all of the work itself), but I guess that would've cut out all the self/ancestral discovery stuff and made the whole thing just a tiny bit less wholesome.

It does make sense. This has been our excuse when a certain department want to give all their kids laptops and screen readers because they think it'll magically get them better marks So the closer it is, the better.

We disallow everything except your regular, run-of-the-mill USB devices, so removable storage only, which isn't quite the same as you want but we're considering going down the block-all-of-it route. We have the same issue with Photography students, as we don't have enough DSLR's a bunch of them use their phones (which count as WPD devices for GPO, which are blocked for pupil accounts) Short of buying card readers that don't operate over USB, my solution is (what I call, no idea if it has a proper name) a selective enforcement policy, which is essentially a GPO that only applies to certain users. It's a pain, but it's done by breaking the standard security permissions so Authenticated Users can only read it (so unticking Apply group policy), then giving 'Read' and 'Apply group policy' to the security group you want it to apply to. Then set the policy to 'Enforced'. (You could also separate kids into their own OU and apply policies that way, but since we separate our kids by year in AD anyway that'd create a bunch of surplus OU's so I didn't want to do that) We also do this for pupils who have been caught copying pirated stuff from USB's with a deny usb policy. It's not pretty but it works. Once that's in place, all you have to do is add/remove users from the relevant security groups. It will, however, give those kids the capability of accessing any USB storage devices, so regular USB sticks too. You can still deny USB FDD/CDRom though. It's a quick'n'dirty fix, I'm not going to lie, but if you need the kids to access cameras/etc ASAP it'll get you functional until you can find something better.

I found that in 1903 I couldn't get it to work, either. Something about setting it via policy it just wasn't liking, but the XML was formatted correctly because I could do it manually. In the end, I settled on a startup script to replace C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\LayoutModification.xml Try deleting user profiles, ditch the GPO, and manually overwrite that file, then log in with a 'new' user. Just to test if it loads properly.

Yeah, but it's Monzo, everything's done via the app, so sometimes you need to provide your PIN to authenticate yourself since the app has no biometric capabilities yet. You also need to do this with ordering a new card, or changing your address. I don't see the problem? Edit: 2 important things in that article, though: So Apple/Google Pay (and other e-wallets) don't count towards your limit, and there seems to be an opt-out.

I don't know if it's the school's rules or if they're set by the exam board, but the signage around our exams says smartwatches are not allowed and must be handed in (along with mobile phones, mp3 players, and other electronic devices). They also say that regular ('dumb') wristwatches must be removed from the wrist and placed on the desk and not interacted with, effectively making them act as personal clocks rather than wristwatches. Seems to be a decent compromise.

I found all the TN panels I checked out had crappy colour accuracy/vibrancy/whatever in comparison and it annoyed me. Everything just looked washed out or desaturated. Though I'll admit I haven't looked at monitors for a few years so maybe things got better since then? I know the response time on IPS panels is usually a little bit higher, but I can't say I see any input lag on a 4ms 144Hz G-Sync IPS. I mean, 1ms would be nicer, yeah, but I don't really feel like it's something I'd ever notice the difference with.

I'm not sure 34" is a common size. Usually it's 32" or 31.5". Curved 30+" 1080p 144Hz 1ms will be around £250-£300 Curved 30+" 1440p 144Hz 1ms will be around £400-£450 HDR is going to push up the price a bit, too, but it's six of one, half a dozen of the other as to whether it makes a difference or not. Depends who you ask, mostly. Some people swear by it, some people don't care for it.

More-or-less, yeah. If you're not using G-Sync you might as well get a FreeSync monitor (gaming monitors are going to be one or the other, but NVidia are rating some FreeSync monitors as G-Sync compatible now, soo..) I'd personally say go for an IPS panel.

A GTX1080 will certainly support 1440p 144Hz - as seen in my signature. Personally I'd definitely recommend Acer's Predator series, but I'm not sure if they come in a curved variant. Honestly for gaming the most important numbers are refresh rate (the bigger the better, but more demanding on your gpu so you may bed to lower your settings sometimes) and response time (the lower the better, reduces blur and input lag). The size and display technology are just window dressing (unless you're doing graphic design work, in which case the panel type is super important because colour accuracy). Additionally, curved screens are usually ultrawide, which some games don't like or support. Some games even scale your view to fit, so you end up with the top and bottom cropped out! (I remember Overwatch did this at one point) Just be prepared to pay an extra ≈£250, because G-Sync tax.

+1 for Thunderf00t and Big Clive Thunderf00t can sometimes be a bit too abrasive, especially with his 'Why people laugh at creationists' videos (I'm not one for religion, personally, but I subscribe to live and let live..) but his Kickstarter debunks are great and are pretty much solely the reason I watch his stuff. As for Big Clive, I know absolutely zero about electronics, what a capacative dropper is, or how to value a resistor, etc, but his videos are still strangely entertaining. I expected this would happen sooner or later, since IIRC any contactless payment basically carries with it a "Er, that weren't me, refund plox" clause. Contactless, as a technology, is inherently (and by design) insecure. You can slap bits on top of it that help mitigate the potential damage, like the £30 limit or connecting it to another device that requires authentication (e.g. a phone that uses facial recognition or biometics) but the underlying technology is still insecure by design. I pretty much exclusively use my Monzo card for purchases now.. My salary goes into, and bills go out of, my Halifax account but I wire myself a per mensis to Monzo each month and my Halifax card doesn't have contactless. So by the sounds of it this won't really effect me all that much anyway. I haven't seen anything official to say so, but it comes across to me that Monzo are never going to bother using the decline+insert card response code mentioned by Rika in the earlier-posted twitter thread provided you regularly check-in with the app. But hopefully they'll have an official statement soon.

Her explosion is relatively easy to block if you're a competent team with a decent lineup and communication (so, basically, it's OP in quick play and sometimes kinda useless in ranked/competitive). Usually the strat, from what I remember, was to speed-boost up at a 95 degree angle, then ult, and your mech flies over some obstacles, then falls down when the boosters run out, then BOOM. If the enemy can't tell where the mech is, they can't run from it. Rein and Winston are the obvious counters, Roadhog can still hook it to drag it somewhere else (usually dying in the process, but if it saves the rest of your team..), I think Zen's ult shields against it too. Or you could just delta split and hide behind a wall. IIRC Reaper and Moira also aren't affected if they time their ethereal abilities right. But yeah, D.Va eating projectiles is her biggest strength, though it's 'balanced' by being so hard to master. You need insane game awareness to be able to consistently catch the big plays. Probably the 'best' thing for her to eat is Zarya's Graviton Surge, but you need to be able to predict exactly when she's gong to do it because the Defence Matrix doesn't last long. That requires understanding the flow of the game, keeping track of ult timers/rough damage output, knowing where their team are, where your team are, etc. It only takes 2 seconds.. Sure, she can also eat Tracer's Pulse Mines or Hanzo's Dragons, but you need to basically be in their face to be effected by those (Tracer doesn't throw it very far and Hanzo's arrow turns into the dragons after a short distance) so what the enemy is doing ulting a D.Va in the face is beyond my comprehension.
