Aha, thank you for this. I've added Audit Logon: Failure into the Advanced Audit Policy Configuration. Now I guess I just wait for that to propagate out and test it. Fingers crossed!

One of our members of SLT keeps repeatedly trying to log in, only to find his account is locked as per the current password policy. We think this is student(s) trying their luck to guess his password. Now according to websites like this one, this one, and this spiceworks discussion, all I need to do is put a policy on the domain controllers to enable Audit Logon Events for Failure .. except I did that. Like three weeks ago. [ATTACH=CONFIG]65013[/ATTACH] There are zero events with the ID 4625 on any of our domain controllers. Ever. I can see 4624 Logon, 4672 Special Logon and 4634 Logoff but no 4625 Logon Denied GPResult confirms the policy is applied to the domain controllers. So what gives? Is there a new way of tracking failed logons? Am I going to have to write a Get-WinEvent script that checks every PC in the school one-by-one?

Oof that's a powerhouse of a build! What would I do with it? I'unno? Spreadsheets and stuff? I've actually recently started streaming on Twitch (then put that on hiatus as I got COVID ) so it would absolutely become my home PC. Then I'd probably give my current PC away to someone that needs one despite it only being about 2 months old, because that's what I do with all my old PC's. (At that point, the parts are just e-waste, so why not?)

Sod it, just took one of the Latitude 3190's apart to look. First of all, props for the build quality. Not-quite-but-kind-of rubber edges presumably to dampen any shocks, 7 screws to remove the bottom cover, none of which are hidden underneath feet/labels/etc, and they're all the kind of screws that don't actually fully come out, so you can't lose them. And then then by the looks of it, the screws for the keyboard etc are on the inside, although it looks like they might be under the motherboard. All standard screws though, and all parts are connected by ZIF ribbons or various flavours of chamfered push-fit connectors. Grade A- for repairability, keyboard access could be easier, but overall incredibly easy to frankenstein parts. ... exceeeept, it looks like they're eMMC too, which sucks if there's ever a storage failure. There's a big 'SSD' label on the motherboard with connections for an M.2 port nicely graphed out, even pre-soldered/tinned, but there's no actual port soldered on. Weirdly there is a screw in the mounting rod that would usually be at the other end of the M.2, too. There's also no traditional sata connector so if there is a storage failure we can't bodge through it by slapping a 2.5" SSD in there.

I'm not gonna lie, I can't figure this one out. Unless the sun is suuuuuper low, and the shadow of the plane we see is off-screen, but I'd imagine the shadow we do see to be much thicker and the photo to not be as bright if that was the case. Somebody hit me with that sweet, sweet science!

Oof, that's harsh. Our HP's are celeron-something flavoured, which isn't the best, but as mentioned new enough for W11 so is again 'it'll do'. They also have SATA M.2's in them. Not as fancy as an NVMe, but heck, it's still solid state, so I'll take it. Pretty sure the Dyabook tablet thingies are going to be eMMC because, well, it's a tablet, isn't it? Chromebooks probably are too. Dunno about the DELLs, not had a rummage around inside them, yet.

Annoyingly the opposite in our house. Housemate puts the heating on "for a bit" to dry clothes. "a bit", allegedly, is equal to three hours now. I'm like, dude, c'mon. Putting the heating on for one hour extra increases the heating bill by 50% for that day. Three makes the bill 250% of its usual cost. Just wash your clothes earlier! Although, that being said, given our gas bill has just dropped, maybe I've been worrying for nothing

An interesting concept, but not one I'd know enough about shares or investing to take the plunge on. Our bill has "only" gone up by fifty quid a month. And actually it's more than that, just that we've paid for way more gas than we use, so our gas bill has dropped substantially.

I have to admit, I've always described these laptops as "Eh, they'll.. do?" I mean they're not fantastic by any metric, but the 250's were okay. Even better if you got the 255's that had some active cooling on them (the 250's just have a heat sink and no fan) We forked out a bit of extra dosh for some DDR4 SODIMMs and they're.. good enough? And they're 11-compatible, for if your school is jumping on that. I wouldn't pick 'em, if I had money to spend because they're more or less what I'd consider 'the minimum acceptable spec' to a tee (once you slap an extra 4GB of RAM into them, anyway), but for nowt, it's better than a kick in the teeth? And the chromebooks are, well, chromebooks. Kinda hard to go wrong with them, as long as they're a recent build. They've been received incredibly well here by the subjects that make heavy use of G Suite. Thankfully, we never got any of the Geobooks. We did get 12 of the Toshiba Dynabook Satellite Pro tablets-with-keyboards and they're.. not really that great. But again, for light use, they'll do. Probably going to hand 'em out to staff that prefer Windows to iOS, as 12 isn't really enough to do anything for the kids with (I'd consider giving them to SEN as the touch might be useful, but they already got a set of brand new chromebooks and they're happy with those) Those aren't 11-compatible though, which is a shame, but tbh that's about what I'd expect. Edit: We did also get some little Dell's that we can't image because they have no RJ45 socket and our USB converter is a chipset that the laptop doesn't recognise, but I expect they'll also fall into the 'eh, it'll do?' category once we have them up and running too.

Trese (Netflix) - A young woman (and her adopted demon siblings) stand as the defenders of a fragile alliance between many different demon species/clans, in a bid to keep everybody (and all of humanity) in balance - until a mysterious player starts making a move and toppling everything. Netflix has been pushing this one kinda hard on me, and I was really hoping this was going to be an OG-Buffy-esque kind of deal, with the titular Alexandra Trese and her team having to figure out what each episode's big-bad was, and ultimately how to deal with it before it was too late. But it wasn't. Trese basically knows all of the answers straight away, and it's just a matter of execution. There's an over-arching plot, but it's barely mentioned in a lot of the episodes, until the final one. When suddenly, PLOT TWIST.. And then plot twist again! Reasonably predictable, bad pacing, no tensions or stakes. Wouldn't recommend.
