I've found with Nintendo it's pretty much always beneficial to buy codes externally You can buy 12 months for £17.42 direct from Nintendo on Amazon right now. Or £30.49 for the family pack (up to 8 'Nintendo accounts', not sure if that's over multiple Switches or not).

Hell, that was my permanent solution to a technology suite without enough network ports in the room... Stole the wireless cards and antennae out of decommissioned laptops, affixed the adhesive copper bits to the rear of the case, fed the cables in, boom. 6 computers now on Wi-Fi. I left two years later, they were still in use.

I had an art commission to finish and decided I wasn't allowed to paint until I'd finished it. And I was also lazy, so I only just got it finished lol May I present, a fully-magnetised Tyranid Screamer-Killer! I tried a bunch of different carapace designs, but nothing really suited the rest of the model, so I decided to go for a simple drybrush, given that that's basically all the rest of the paint job is. Kind of annoyed that I still had to use a wash (well, a contrast paint as a wash) for the claws, as I don't have a dark enough paint. Wanted to do a completely wash-free paintjob. Ah well, it still looks good.

I've heard of enough different terms that I kind of get it. It's definitely better than the various proprietary soul-less ad-filled garbo metaverses that everyone and their mums seems to want to make.

It's, as always, one of those weird somewhere-in-the-grey issues. On one hand, part of me would love to say "Nope, we can't manage device that aren't ours. Sorry. Physical classroom management is your answer".. On the other, we all know a teacher can't be over everybody's shoulder all of the time, and with features like multi-desktop on Windows, it's incredibly easy to hide at a moment's notice and go back to your work, without any indication you were doing anything untoward because they're all on the second desktop. Flat profile doesn't really work because the vast majority of our BYOD devices are either Windows laptops or MacBooks. There's the odd Chromebook or iPad floating around too, though. My gripe with typical classroom management software, ignoring the privacy concerns, is that they're often assuming a device lives in a room (or at least are part of a set, so you just kludge it and say 'This laptop is in the MFL Laptop Trolley room'), at least in my experience using NetSupport and Senso previously. When the devices are moving around from lesson to lesson, there needs to be an element of checking in/out of lessons/locations. Ultimately this all falls back down to classroom management, if the kid is caught doing something they're not supposed to, or is refusing to 'check in' to the lesson, then the teacher still has to pick up on that and punish them appropriately, but I can see the appeal of putting all of that information in one place that's easily analysed, rather than having to patrol around desks where you can be seen coming.

Yes I'm aware this is asking for a technological solution to a squishy problem, but TPTB are asking soo.. Essentially because we're BYOD we have very limited control of user devices. We put a certificate on them that allows us to inspect their web traffic, which we don't get any push-back over*, but there's been a lot of complaints about people using their mobile data to bypass web filtering or simply goof off in lesson, and obviously if the traffic doesn't touch our network, there's nothing we can do, but there have been questions raised about can we do anything? * not in an official capacity, at least. Students protest plenty by using their mobile data or VPNs but y'know.. The more traditional classroom management software, like Senso, NetSupport, Impero etc, is obviously a no-go as they're not our devices. Huge privacy and safeguarding concern there, and I expect there would be a huge amount of kickback on that one. Similarly we can't lock down WiFi settings for much the same reasons. Which leaves me with relatively few options, as far as I can see it. So I know it's a tall order, but we're looking for a device-agnostic solution where users can sign in/out of lessons, preferably in a browser (even more preferably with their MS365 account?), where the teacher of that lesson can see the screens of anybody in it, but then the kids can sign out after the lesson/after school hours. The member of staff could then penalise any kids not doing their work, or not signing into the lesson, as appropriate. Does anything like that exist?

I did pick myself up the Tyranid commander deck, it does feel quite strong to play, I've made a few tweaks, but overall it seems great out-of-the-box. In less exciting news, I appear to have lost a monstrous scything talon from my Screamer-Killer thanks to a considerably large gust of wind whilst priming Thank papa nurgle for bitz stores!

I'm not at the school now, I've changed employers since then. It was G-Suite, which we're not using at my new place, so this thread is kind of moot now unless anybody is looking to do similar, but I find Defender's spam filtering to be much more robust having seen them both in action now. To be fair, Google was still blocking the emails. I just wanted to have a filter going so I could keep on top of what was coming in, keep an eye on the latest trends, any new tactics etc. But Google's quarantine is (was?) a bit rubbish. Used to be kind of sluggish and take a while to load new messages, I assume it would run a filter/search every time you opened it. The main issue, tl;dr, is that it would trip the rule for obfuscation, move the email to the inbox I had set up for it, but if you actually ran the regex against Google's own policy tester, it said it didn't match. It would catch plenty of legit stuff too.. The polish ż, the french ç, etc, but it would also dump random emails that had no obfuscation at all.

Yup, wet ironworks was the reason I came off the first time I did, because my wheels locked and I couldn't stop in time. (Some decided he was going to overtake a bus and didn't indicate or anything.. Recently I've been implementing Microsoft Azure Recovery Services to back up our servers to an Azure recovery vault and for the most part it's been working fine. However I'm seeing the majority of our servers throwing intermittent errors with C:\Windows\WinSxS Annoyingly, it's not always the same server(s), it's not always the same files, and it's not always day-after-day, and the internet seems to be very devoid of information. I don't just want to start excluding the entire folder. The side-by-side catalogue is where it dumps DLLs, it's used for server roles, has a role with boot troubleshooting.. Seems like not backing up this folder would cause a lot of problems. Microsoft's troubleshooting page does list 0x80070002 as The system cannot find the file specified and recommends ensuring the scratch disk/location still exits (it does) and isn't full (it isn't), and setting the MARS client as an AV exception (tried that even though the AV has flagged no issues with it, it's still happening)

I can't say I know of anything that's current, because I don't really listen to live radio, but a band I follow called Citizen Soldier have done a lot of songs regarding mental health, depression, suicidal ideation, and the like. Scam calls have been spoofing your number but changing the last digits for quite some time now, I've had them years ago. It's presumably so that you get the same area codes and it looks like a local call. For a start, it probably has a higher success rate of getting people to actually answer the phone, and second, it avoids automated number checking software like Hiya et al.
