  1. We use Securly as the web filter on our Chromebooks, there is a parental app (securly home) that allows the parents to set offline schedules and adjust the web filtering to suit them.
  2. The black belt barrister at 2.40 seems to suggest that if it is "your fence" your neighbour has no right to hang or even paint the fence without your consent.
  3. Is everyone still having this issue? We seem to be getting more complaints from teachers than ever!
  4. We had similar with some lenovo's it was the storage chip on the mainboard. Replaced under warranty, I always highly recommend extended warranties on chromebooks.
  5. We seek to appoint an experienced ICT Support Technician to work in a team to deliver the Schools’ ICT services. This will include assisting in the management of ICT computer facilities and software, maintenance of internal websites, assisting staff and students with ICT needs, service desk support, hardware/software installation and maintenance, auditing and delivering solutions to ICT problems. This role is based at both our Senior School (Fenham) and Junior School (Hunter’s Moor) locations and will be term-time plus 20 additional days. More info on the website
  6. 2nd Gen 300e Chromebooks don't have a nvme slot unless I am completely blind!
  7. We have approx 370 300e MTK 81QC Chromebooks. We bought them in 2 batches, failures started to occur in the second year of ownership (lucky we upgraded to 3 year warranty). Looking at our records I can say we have sent back 34 for repair so far. In our case, the main issue seems to be something to do with the storage chips one day they are working, the next day no operating system and the only fix is a new mainboard. My suspicion is that more will fail the longer people use them. Some have had touch screen failure and 2 or 3 with trackpads not working but so far keyboards have been fine.
  8. We have been using Innolux for all of our replacement Lenovo Chromebook screens, never had any issues with them. Pretty sure they provide OEM for Lenovo also.
  9. We had this with some Lenovo N23's, sometimes a powerwash works, others needed the wifi card reseated and other times we have sent them back to lenovo and they have had either the Wifi card replaced and/or motherboard replaced. We never had this issue with the Lenovo 300e's (wifi card is onboard) but we have had it a few times with our Acer Spin 511's (again with separate wifi card), with the Acer's we sent them back for warranty and they replaced the wifi card.
  10. Same here also.
  11. Not to mention kids pulling them out to shine "lasers" at each other.
  12. We moved to Freshdesk from GLPi via OSTicket and Spiceworks. All school users can log in via their google accounts. Pretty happy with it to be honest, had a few issues but were solved pretty quick by support. With 4 agents it is still a big jump up in cost when you were paying nothing for the others.
  13. Managing my 1300 Chromebooks takes less time and effort than managing the 150 Windows devices we have!
  14. Office Editing for Docs, Sheets and Slides is an extension (Here) You can remove then reinstall from the extensions menu.
  15. In the admin console goto "Devices" > "Chrome" > Devices Top right you should get the following Click on the far right icon circled in the picture above and this will show your licences like below: As people have said below, when you enterprise enrol a device it will automatically take a licence.
  16. Has anyone bought enterprise for education, If so have you been able to buy it in any quantity below 50, if so Who are you using to buy it? thanks
  17. When we see this it us usually broken, engineers generally come and replace the mainboards. If the board is ok, I have heard of some people having success from making a recovery file from another Chromebook of the same make\model, never worked for us.
  18. for example: gam user show delegates - - - Updated - - - ah Ok, yes thats a "gotcha" if your used to how it was done in Exchange\Outlook
  19. I tend to use GAM for this, and there is a command to show the delgation on a mailbox, this is useful just to check that it is working before troubleshooting elsewhere.
  20. Did you do this via GAM, or did you delegate via invitations from the mailbox you are delegating. If you did it via invitations then are you sure they have accepted the invitations? If it is a new mailbox and you have added them via GAM, beofre it works you need to log into the new mailbox and accept the terms and conditions, then do the delegation and this usually works. Also sometimes a log out and log back in is needed for the new mailbox to show.
  21. We used Google meets all the way through lockdown until we closed for summer. As all our senior school students have a Chromebook, we had few issues other than some funny business with Sky broadbands "Shield" product which seemed to block a lot of Google traffic unless it was set on 18+ settings. At our Junior school though as kids were using any old device their parents had, most of the issues were with Apple devices. Making sure the devices and browsers were all up to date seemed to fix some, others we just couldn't get to work.
  22. Well we have never had that problem in the 3+ years we have had these enclosures. The Sound from the screens themselves are to queit, so many of them have sound bars added below\above the screens. The enclosure is just bigger than the Screen so it isn't a cavernous space and the speakers are pointing outwards of the enclosure.
  23. Millgate managed to source them for me, there was quite a lead time. Although an American site, I find this useful for getting part numbers (MPN) for the 300e https://www.chromebookparts.com/category-s/2254.htm
  24. we have had 1 Lenovo 300e that came to us and wouldn't shut as the hinges were misaligned. Assuming this was not covered under warranty we took it apart and one of the hinges was sheared. We swapped out the hinges and not had any further issue. Our conclusion was that they had something stopping it closing on one side, and simply forced it shut, shearing the mechanism on one side. We have around 400 of the 300e and only 1 has had the issue. If it was manufacturing I would have thought we would have more of them fail.
