When it's this way round and Google stores the usernames and passwords, what happens after you login to the PC and try to authenticate onto a Windows server, whether FileShare, printer, SIMS share etc?

Just to check - as far as I can see everyone that wants to view behind a login also needs a Pro license. Is that correct? From the start of this thread, I thought people were saying that one user (e.g. data manager) needs a license to create for the rest of staff to see (for free). I know Google Data studio is a bit featureless compared to PowerBi but at least it is free for everyone to view or create.

Last time I asked about this you still had to be using O365 or Google setup by atomwide, e.g. accounts that are synced from USO, not from on-prem AD to use the SSO. Would love if it was different now.

Depends what the documentation is like on each of the places we go into. Never had a school with good documentation yet but may have just been unlucky. The last school we took over had an domain hosted outside the LGfL. Took two weeks of back and forth with various third party hosting sites, website companies etc. Whois records went to a company that no longer existed. Eventually the website designer was able to find an email from 3 years ago where some other company and the old bursar had exchanged logon details for the registrar. All I wanted to do was add a txt record for G Suite verification.

You could. But I would say that this is more hassle for schools in general. The LGfL is the domain registrar for the borough addresses eg school.la.sch.uk and many more and moving them will be more of a problem when a new company or employee takes over the IT for a school. Plus when we do a firewall change request they can do the DNS records at the same time if needed. Look essentially I believe that having this information readily available to key stakeholders is a good idea. As @PaddyNewman says yes we can ask for the information but that is their and the end-users time wasted waiting for the ticket response.

Yeah, I do actually since those tools show me no A or CNAME records for LGfL hosted domains. Maybe @PaddyNewman could explain why

Hi guys, I've got a ticket open with Atomwide about them providing all of us with a read-only view of all DNS entries for a school. Currently, we can see DNS records only if they are associated with a firewall rule, but we can't see where other DNS records go to eg where the www. is pointing to, the MX, txt records etc. To help Jamie (head of support) present a business case he has asked for some potential benefits for us. The simplest one for me is when a 3PSO like myself or new nominated contacts (Network managers etc) take over a school they would be able to see existing records which aren't always documented. I've got a couple of other benefits but what can you all come up with??

Yeah, I've had similar with adding groups on cloud print. Have a look at GAM https://github.com/jay0lee/GAM/ and you should be able to automate adding all students individually.

They also announced that schools would get Adobe Creative Cloud licenses included with their service. 100 for secondary and I think 20 or 30 for primary. Not the point of this thread but thought I'd make you aware

Is there a chance he's signed up to and logged in with a Microsoft account rather than the Office365 account. Before we used O365 for emails I had signed up for a Microsoft account for volume licensing amongst other things using my work email address. I now get the question is this a personal account or an work/school account each time I sign in unless it's directly O365 related.

Just to confirm on my Chromebook point above. The results are cached until the Chromebook are back on the LAN. Parents are told at multiple times that if they use their daughters @school.org logon on the Chromebook we may be able to see searches and triggered keywords that flag to us (in Securly as well as DNA). Parents have the option to ask us to enable non school logons using the GSfE out of hours rules where no monitoring is enabled. Monitoring of school student accounts is done for safeguarding reasons which parents have been happy with so far. The issues we have are predominately with students phone usage - on this, we can't do anything because they are personal devices but get lumped with the bullying, safeguarding etc issues that stem from them. I don't know if the tab reloaded inside school to cause the ping but I'm sure the timing of it on DNA was 19:00. It was backed up by the securly extension recording the search from an external IP address outside of school hours. Does the chrome extension cache keywords until back on site?

No, turned off advanced features a while ago as a potential fix. Upgrading the firmware now.

Writing things down has helped. Once I realised it was always the nanoHD I had a look at the firmware for issues, it is on the latest but there are two more releases that haven't come down to my controller yet. Hi, we replaced our old Meru wifi over the summer with Unifi and have been having persistent problems with them disconnecting from the controller and being unpingable. They go disconnected seemingly at random and at different points of the day. Clients then can't connect to the WiFi AP but there is a SSID being broadcast. The situation is resolved by a PoE reset of the AP until it happens again. We have 64 access points consisting of 10 AP-HD, 12 AP-AC-Lite, 2 AP-AC-Pro, and 40 AP-nanoHD all on version 3.9.54.9373. Looking at my tally of which access point has been going off to see if there's a pattern I think it is always the nanoHDs, but there is no other pattern of which edge switch etc. Things we have done so far from the Ubiquiti forums: 1) Disable uplink connectivity monitor 2) Where we cheated a little bit over Summer and didn't swap the Meru PoE injectors for the ubiquiti ones to save time - this has now been done. 3) Any access points being supplied by a PoE switch have now had the Ubiquiti injector installed. 4) Fluke tested cabling for any faults. The access points are untagged on their own vlan as I am short of internet accessible IP addresses. The controller running on Ubuntu has a NIC on the same vlan as the APs and the inform address is set to that IP address. The controller has a second NIC on an internet accessible vLan so that we can access the controller remotely. Things I haven't tried yet is a factory reset of the access point and a readoption but does anyone else have any other ideas? Thanks
