  1. If you have wireless that has 802.1x authentication ie everyone puts in an individual username and password in to get on the WiFi which might lead to user level filtering for example. I'm guessing you could have a "Chromebook" WiFi that has restricted filtering that just allows the Chromebook to do the logon, after which it will Radius authenticate to a different filtering group or vlan. That's my 11pm real world use case guess.
  2. Thanks @Koldov, @Obzen. Just came across your thread after a few hours trying to sort this issue. Even had an open ticket with Atomwide saying "I'm having problems playing videos recently. Can I check my DNS settings are correct and up-to-date." No mention of this problem. Just checked the other LGfL schools we look after and they have open tickets about this issue too. As you said all it needs is a service desk announcement. @JohnJackson - this is why schools get frustrated with LGfL/atomwide.
  3. We do cost per copy only. No monthly lease, buy out right etc. We get machines that have been used at events for a couple weeks. Think the first ones were used at the Open golf tournament
  4. Did you use dB attach to connect/restore to SQL? Just changing the server in the connect.ini file will cause this. I've got this when restoring a backup file and used the SQL management method I'm used to but dbattach had to be used. Either that or you don't have the sysman username properly assigned to the new dB.
  5. Any chance that is $3.20 per user per month? Not per year.
  6. I'm definitely out the loop then. Haven't done a session host server on 2016. Only 2012r2. Is that new or have I been doing it wrong. I say doing it wrong...it hasn't caused me any problems
  7. What's install mode and execute mode. I'm either out of the loop or don't know the lingo
  8. Has anyone got any further with the AQA on encrypting etc. I had the Head of English asking about it and he just referred me to the link in the email he got for the instructions. No mention of securing the data in transit. http://filestore.aqa.org.uk/resources/english/AQA-8700-SL-AV-GUIDANCE.PDF?_cldee=ZXhhbXNAc3RwaGlscy5vcmcudWs%3d&recipientid=account-16887e0b0f09e3118b6278e3b519b0a5-cb46ca70607141b28f0cb023a7074391&esid=00d9f9ef-cb31-e811-813b-e0071b6e4481
  9. Tascsoftware.co.uk PARS does all you ask. Website based Sims on an onsite iis server. Realtime read/writes
  10. Working here too after a bit of crashing on load
  11. We have a Google sheet with every event in the school. There is a column which is marked to indicate if the event is public. A Google script then exports these to a couple Google calendars (internal and public). We used to embed the Google calendar on the website but have recently updated it to a joomla plugin which shows the events from the Google calendar
  12. I think proximity to another FB user could also be the factor here. Guy installing the studio owns a company with a FB page etc and is near your phone etc. Maybe. Just an idea
  13. It's free. Says so here in the video Check out @LGfL’s Tweet:
  14. Buy three more, put them in 4 adjacent classrooms/rooms. Turn the transmit power on the APs to low and then get testing.
  15. I forgot the basic didn't need the device policy app. I'm just the guinea pig that gives himself the advanced MDM. And forgot to say it's down to setting a policy staff should follow too. That should cover the school.
  16. On gmail/gsuite I think you can only enforce 2fa on OUs, rather than if they access emails by xyz method. The other thing with having 2fa Auth on mobiles with work email is unless you're going to buy separate tags the 2fa device is probably going to be that mobile. I'm looking to come up with a guide that shows how to add email app to a protected folder that needs a fingerprint or secondary pattern to access. You can set a basic MDM for your domain accounts. So when a user signs in to the drive, docs etc app it requires them to download the device policy app (at least this is what happens on Android). In the Google admin you can enforce them having a basic, standard or strong screenlock
  17. @JohnJackson said today that Meraki will be free, not "at a price less than half the current best market rate" as above. How do we get malwarebytes?
  18. We used an add on called Pear Deck for Google slides this week for GDPR training. Worked really well. A lot of the teachers want to use it with students as a result
  19. My group has the following Students - view on Basic details, view on Reg-Admission Number, view on Telephones and emails Third party reporting - view Staff - Basic details view, Employment details view, Timetable and academic classes view Reports - all Curriculum - view all I'll PM you the file I got from Wonde yesterday that lists all the items they are reading from SIMS and sending to GCSEPod. I got this for another service and found they were taking Employees ethnicity, Employees next of kin and Employees religion which the other service has said isn't necessary. Not sure why but its necessary to run a trip but this other service takes student religion and ethnicity too. Only way to get visibility of this was to check with Wonde.
  20. Even with the old groupcall which has the 'full' permissions (same as wonde wants) at least it gave you visibility of the reports being ran in its log and you could load those reports in SIMS to see what's leaving your school
  21. Cool, it's just that you can't trust everything you read on some flashy website that says it will solve all your problems.
  22. ^^^ replying on phone went a little crazy - apologies
  23. I was on @GrumbleDook 's site earlier and if I'm reading it correctly legitimate interest can't be used by a state school https://www.gdpr.school/how-concerned-should-schools-be-about-consent/ I was on @GrumbleDook 's site earlier and if I'm reading it correctly legitimate interest can't be used by a state school
  24. Looking for anything that makes them think about their current practice and engage with the training. Beit obvious, tricky or funny scenarios.
  25. You'll have the business manager after my head when teachers start asking for the school to supply them with a home safe!
