The CSV upload is number 2 on the setup assistant. Click your username (top right). You do it by SFTP upload which might be new to you.

Hi, Does anyone have the Apple Enterprise Support number written down somewhere? I did once upon a time but can't find it since the start of term. Getting an error when trying to do anything in ASM. Hi all, One of our schools wish to move from our managed VLE to using Google Apps Sites. They already use google drive and classroom. Nevertheless the head is now worried that that given Google's reported less than ethical tax paying etc that they maybe shouldn't be using their free services as it doesn't match with their catholic ethos. Nor should we be instilling the habit of using Google in all of our students. So in the it's ok if someone else is doing it fashion (which will be fine with the head) - are there any other catholic schools out there using Google apps? If you wouldn't mind listing the school name (in a PM if you'd prefer) Thanks a lot G

I think the Level F pricing still exists, but it has always been described as for institutions with device OR user (can't remember which) counts of over 1000. We've always been able to get these, and the lower pricing that comes with it, until this year when they seem to actually be enforcing this over 1000 rule and giving Level E pricing.

Hi, We've written a small (that we've added a lot to) program in C# (visual studio) that rights back to a SQL database. The core of the program that you're wanting is relatively simple and a fun project to do if you're into that sort of stuff. Some one really good with Excel might do something sufficient or Access. Haven't looked in a while but there were sharepoint based library type software/programs about but I found they just weren't what we were after - or at least couldn't be configured to say laptops instead of books. We use barcodes to look devices up and import student names from csv (MIS report). Can also look up by S/N when the students peel off the label! Let me know if you want further info.

Hi guys, Just started in a new school in the past few months. The switch design here is on the whole pretty standard - core switch with fibre links to edge switches. However, in quite a few rooms they have little dlink/netgear 5 port switches that are used when the room only has one network point but they need a phone, access point and PC all in there (instead of running extra cabling). Obviously this is the cheaper option but in my head it's detrimental to the performance of the wired network. Unfortunately I don't have the knowledge to back this up. I know I'm about to be asked to install 4 computers into a staff work area with only 1 LAN point. So was wondering if adding a small network switch in that room (which will be what the school will want to do) will effect the speed/throughput of just those computers or will it have any effects on the broader wired network. Or am I worrying about nothing? Cheers

On the root of the default website (we're in IIS 7 here and presume Exchange installed to the default website) there should be a button called SSL settings click into that and untick require SSL. Apply and restart the website. I'm presuming you already have a http->https redirect that was working before but if not the following article explains how to setup redirection to https://mail.exampledomain.com/owa plus what I described in more detail. How to configure Exchange to redirect OWA HTTP requests to HTTPS requests in IIS 7 The SSL requirement comes back on after exchange updates and probably certificate renewals so it's good to remember this.

Not really, it looks like a 45-60 minute journey depending how far you want to walk and how fast you can walk. You would be shadowing myself for the first part of your day initially and I would be able to transport you to the next school so if getting your driving license is something you're working towards we could work something out. Alternatively when I cycle to work it takes about 25 minutes.

One advantage of Dell's is if you are using SCCM and SCUP then firmware updates are automatic. Someone said that to me the other day and I thought how often do you have to do firmware updates and would you want one to happen automatically/remotely with the chance that someone switches the computer off! Just watch out that Discover is now working with SQL 2012. It wasn't as of the Spring 2013 release and our SIMS guys had to put a separate SQL 2008 R2 express instance on the SIMS server to get it to run It was scheduled to be supported with Spring 2013. That was pushed back to Summer 2013 but may have been pushed back again. Worth a check!

No issues for me. Didn't have DPM installed before on our servers but in place upgrade went like a breeze - no ill after effects a couple of months later that would make me suggest a clean install.

Hi, I've had success with this in one school but not another. Haven't looked into why it doesn't work but my first steps would be to change the update search order to "Windows Update Last" and that it would accept 3rd party drivers without intervention. Both of these are somewhere in group policy. I'll try to be more precise later if you need me to. Cheers Gavin

I support three independent Prep schools - 1 using LEA 10Mb internet for ~£7000 pa and the other 2 using BT infinity for business with static IPs for ~£50 per month. Obviously extras to add on to the BT infinity connection like filtering but it is still the cheaper option by far (one still managed to get cut off for not paying their bill last week!). I wouldn't be scared of Fttc for 300-400 pupils/100 computers at all. Looked at schools broadband at a High School and it was definitely the cheapest out of all looked at.
