  1. It also uses less bandwidth by saving on full page requests.

    Zimbra COS's

As you can do that with VBScript and/or Perl, then yes.

    Zimbra COS's

As per a previous DM, my import script sets the COS at creation/modification time based on properties in AD. As you've already imported them, you will probably have to create a script that assigns it to each user. Have you seen this? http://www.edugeek.net/forums/scripts/48075-zimbra-active-directory-sync.html
  4. Call me cynical, but if an outsourcing company commissioned the report then it's bound to conclude in favour of the services it offers. The company would have nothing to gain if the report contradicted them.
  5. I haven't read the full report yet (I will when I get the time); but is there any real present demand for out-of-hours support for home access? If users have an internet connection (most families manage their own, though some have it through local government funded initiatives), then I don't really see many major issues that need supporting by the school. The PDF doesn't allow copying, but to paraphrase, it says "Microsoft Office is essential." I, and probably a few others, would dispute this.
  6. Software-based RAID5 is indeed rather horrible. Stick with RAID1 for safety or RAID0 for performance.

    Configuring Samba

If you do getent passwd and it returns your domain users, you don't need to have actual linux accounts for your AD users - which would make the useradd scripts etc redundant.
  8. How does the device present itself to the computer, hardware-wise? E.g. a keyboard? If so, you could use one of the key monitoring programs to find out what it's sending.

    Configuring Samba

Have a look at the winbind-related stuff in my Samba set up for our FTP server: FTP and Web server [bishop Barrington IT Wiki]. Specifically, the 'Edit Name Server Switch' part.
  10. It doesn't validate.
  11. Add a ; (semicolon) at the end of the first line (mysql_connect()).
  12. Completed. Feedback: I wasn't sure if the "How many virtual servers do you have deployed at the moment?" question was for number of physical servers used for virtualisation, or number of virtual servers spread across hosts. In my case the answer is the same regardless, but just thought it could be more clear
  13. Yes, it probably did Will just put it down to jealousy of such a good team (bossman and I) running such a good network Yeah we've used RM Blueprints before, we've had to contact vendors before, and we've also experienced one or two hurdles; but those are minor in comparison to the rest of the software we have installed. The majority just work, some need minor tweaks, and some need re-building. Who, on a vanilla network, can honestly say they have had zero problems allocating/deploying software?
  14. Thanks. Apologies for jumping to that conclusion
  15. Yes, I agree with you. But in my opinion, the problem lies with the Section 44 and its improper use - it shouldn't take the human rights act to counter it. Section 44 should either be amended to its use is more strict. Or just use profiling instead.
  16. How childish for someone to give me negative rep in this thread with the comment "Aw bless. Bossman's little lapdog strikes again!". Grow up Was it you mb2k01?
  17. Free pizza? I'm there! ( On saturday )
  18. Interesting. In their defence, they'll probably refer to section 2 of article 8 which states: (My emphasis) European Convention on Human Rights and its Five Protocols As far as I'm concerned, there is no privacy in public.
  19. Just point out all of the pitfalls of moving away from CC3, and the extra costs and time needed to maintain another network. Then highlight that if they were to move away, they wouldn't get X-good-feature-of-CC3 etc..
  20. What do you seemingly find "not easy" with CC3/4 application deployment? You have the package, choose which locations or workstations you want it installed on, and you click OK - easy enough for us. A package can be a properly-packaged MSI or a silently-installable EXE. From our experience, there is very little wrong with app and OS deployment methods in CC3. If it didn't work so well, we wouldn't be able to unattendedly rebuild machines a) from USB sticks or b) remotely via the management console; or have over 400 functioning apps across the network. Equally, don't be disappointed with it solely based on some people having an aversion to RM or a personal vendetta against them
  21. Don't worry HT, I got what you were on about
  22. Update: VMWare will acquire Zimbra. VMware: The Console: VMware to acquire Zimbra
  23. No, I don't think it does. I'm not a regular expression guru, so not sure what to suggest to use to ignore it.
  24. Bayonet or screw fitting?
