Zimbra offers Open Source email server software and shared calendar for Linux and the Mac.

Just tried it - works OK. Is there anything on your connection that could be preventing it from downloading or corrupting it? Zipped: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41938/Spotify%20Installer%20%281%29.zip

Is it really our responsibility to monitor the likes of Securus? I would suggest it's more to do with the behaviour/pastoral side of things.

Are the ladders OK?

I'd go nuts if any squirrel ate away at our cables.

It might be just me but I don't really get news aggregation websites like those, they've always just seemed full of rubbish. I much prefer going to a site I know I like, opening interesting articles in new tabs and just reading them. RSS is also just an unnecessary middle-man between headlines and the stuff I actually want to read.

Or instead of paying, I could create a script that uses freely-available tools to strip the first and last 5 seconds of every track I download.

Where are these for? Can you turn the wind down to zero so they stop blowing? I can see that getting very distracting.

RM CC3 network with roaming profiles - logon for a new clean profile takes a maximum of 35 seconds. Cached profiles usually take about 15 seconds or less depending on workstation specification.

Capita, Microsoft and the UK Govt - all one big conspiracy?

I don't think Capita would be happy about that.

Who needs Becta when a conglomerate of costly ICT managed service providers know everything about everything, especially when it comes to ICT in education?

Make your mind up whether you are an 'I' or a 'We' - you use both in different bits of text.

I believe Securus would do that, yes - and that is all it would do. But the way that comment was worded suggests that your entire home/personal emails would be searchable. E.g. "they" would have access to your entire Hotmail/Yahoo/ISP emails. Which as powdarrmonkey said, it totally untrue.

♫ I know a voice that'll get on yer nerves, get on yer nerves, get on yer nerves.... (Not implying yours does Hightower - just the mention of that name brought that song back)

Even worse, I bet. Shop around and have a look at the current "best rates" on the MoneySavingExpert website for ideas.

Strange one that as well... last year I had a payment set up with Black Horse Finance, and they sent me offers of loans. At one stage I could have done with one, so I called them to ask further. As it happens, I wasn't approved - despite the letter offering me it and having a current payment with them at the time!

We've had our own internal email service for about 6 years now, which can easily be monitored by us; and since 2008 we have had a bad word filter when we upgraded to Zimbra. We do not allow staff or students access to any third-party email services. This was our own policy even before the LEA stipulated only one email service was permitted per-school. It's all standardised, it's monitored, includes anti-virus scanning and the school is in complete control. There are no reasons to allow third-party services. But we are an 11-16 secondary.

For the country that pioneered the railways, it strikes me as ironic (and highly frustrating) that we have a relatively pathetic and expensive train network compared to many other countries.
