It's my understanding that preventing someone moving their vehicle is now illegal unless completed by a licensed firm following the relevant guidelines ever since the change in clamping law. If your neighbour is making it difficult to move your car, technically fine. If the neighbour is making it impossible, it could be against the law.

Yeah it's very easy. Just copy the settings set by simsperm.bat in the registry and folder permissions. Having said that, we're on 7.124 and the OP is an issue with 7.126. We update the server, then a handful of office machines, but leave the teacher machines to the teacher. We tend to pop a message on the smartboard in the staff room informing staff of the update. It generally only takes 3-5minutes, and nobody complains much.

We have been testing a system for our LEA. It is based on Ja.nets text messaging system I believe. We currently only send absence messages to parents, which is usually between 20-40 a day I would say. When the snow hit, we did send messages to parents telling them we were actually open to our 1300 students priority one contacts. We are looking at perhaps sending other notifications to parents, and possibly to sixth formers. We have also done a data capture exercise to get hold of staff mobile numbers. We started using it properly in September and have used only about 4000 messages as yet. We did a trial of Keep Kids Safe, but didn't like the contract (read the small print if you're interested in their trial). We also took a look at Groupcall and teachers2parents. None of which would work correctly with our time table for the absence texts.

Not an argument I totally agree with, but I take your point. Do you agree at least that Just Giving should make their fee more public, perhaps even changing the amounts donated to reflect that fee? I know someone who looked into using JG for the charity they set up. To register as a charity on JG you have to pay a monthly fee, then their are the fees we have mentioned on top. For a small charity, this takes away a massive amount of the funding, far outweighing the use that JG serves. I suppose my argument is that JG can charge what ever it likes, but should make those charges far more obvious to the generous public who just go to Charlie Simpsons page and hit donate. Little Charlie will wake up today to find he has raised 136 thousand, which is a massive feet that deserves praise. Sadly he will have actually raise a little less than 130 thousand, and I bet most of the people who donated, would not realise that. In addition to that, I would say that some charity workers are good, some bad like in any other profession. However, when a charity spends more money on marketing than the cause they were created to support, something has gone wrong.

Since September our school (roughly 1300 students & 130 staff) has done a total of 211,249 sheets. Once again we're using Papercut to manage printing.

We've got 12 being used by our nurture group. They are going down very well. The pupils spend half an hour most days on brain training, and the teachers seem very positive on progress.

Wasn't there an issue with an 'unknown payload' in the toolbar? Does anyone know if this is still the case, or found out what the payload was?

For those who use filter which analyses the content of the page, pop "Facebook © 2010" in the illegal / banned words list. It shouldn't matter what proxy they use - it appears on every page as far as I am aware.

I agree, and would add; never put tools in your backpack on your bike as richard_s suggested he might. Screwdrivers and pliers become daggers and scissors when skidding down the road on your behind at 40 miles an hour!

We have a rolling five year system here now. Although machines in IT suites, admin offices and the like will be swapped more frequently. All staff classroom machines are workstations; pupils laptops are lucky to see three years. The few staff laptops we have are replaced usually when the staff member gets fed up and decides their budget can afford a new one.

Good suggestion. Or find the local seamstress and give them dimensions, and ask for some suitable material.

I know our Panasonic camera, you can just change the file extension to mpg and they work. It's probably a standard file type on hitachi's too.

I had a similar situation last year. I was waiting behind a lady at the checkout who was buying a lamp for her car. She asked if they could fit it. This meant they needed to take the reg number for their records, but she couldn't remember it. So she rang her boyfriend to ask the details. He didn't answer, so eventually she went outside to find it. She came back into the shop, and then they had difficulty finding her cars details on the till. All this time I am patiently waiting to be served with my lamp for my car. I was really close to suggesting to the lady that I could fit her lamp - saving her the £2.95 fitting fee, and my time. But I was getting quite cross, and was in risk of snapping at her, even though I was going to make a kind offer. So I kept quiet. Eventually I bought my lamp, and was offered the same fitting fee. I laughed it off. It took me roughly 40 minutes to fit that damn lamp in my car - blooming battery box in the way. All the time chuntering under my breath.
