I always used to take a snapshot in Xenserver of the Sims before an upgrade, I made sure no-one was able to access while I was doing this so there was no data changes to the SQL database, only once did I ever have to revert back to the snapshot after and upgrade and it was fine. As has been mentioned it is not a good thing to snapshot whilst users are able to change the data as you lose all the new data which has been entered for that period of time from the snapshot to the time you revert back. Common sense really

I've just been given this 17 page document by our head of ICT with the words "I don't have a clue what this is all about but I'm sure you will!" What a pile of Cr*p!!! Its so full of holes it's like a colander! Why would you allow macros to run without being digitally signed is beyond me, even the Excel application tells you (Not recommended) plus allowing pop-ups in the browser plus a myriad of other such drivel!! I am surprised BCS use such an incompetent company to deliver its exam module online! But who am I? Just the person who has to make all this work within the next 2 weeks and without any testing so I am led to believe by the head of ICT, apparently EnlightKS don't allow you to run tests. I find this very hard to swallow like a bur! I have told them without testing I cannot guarantee that the exams will run smoothly if at all, we shall certainly see on the day! Have fun everyone

@Sylv3r On reading the transcript for the KS3 exams patch it takes the database to version 3.632 or something and the KS4 patch actually requires that this version of the database is reached before it can commence as you would normally get the error "Fail due to database inconsistencies" which I got when I tried to install the other as I hadn't read the notes when you click on the cross (Doh!) which gave me the news that I had installed the last one first hehe! I would hope that all will be well but will find out tomorrow as I have one of the MIS team ringing me in the morning. Thanks all the same my friend speak soon Nice sand castles btw!

Hi everyone, Really tired and because of this I have installed the Patch No:20849 KS3 Programme of Study Curriculum before the Patch No:20884 Sims Exams Patch to update the ASB/ASD calculations for KS4 Students, due to the Patch No's following on (Should have studied it) Am I right in believing that the latter will have the prior also or am I mistaken in this too! Ready for a break

@dpskinner I took this after doing the level 3 alongside the NVQ equivalent also in 6 months as my tutor took ill after the first month but the college didn't let me know until half the course had gone time wise, great insight into how management and leadership are tuned to the organisation and how to develop and encourage the staff by using different management and leadership tools. All the same it didn't help me in my present employment as educational development is usually about the teaching but if you are lucky enough to have a good leadership team who recognise your good work and how it impacts the wholeschool from the top down and backup again then go for it you won't regret as this accreditation can be used in all walks of life. @flyinghaggis Why not try it for the free trial and you will find out for yourself first hand, other people may not have the same opinion of it as you, I would think this is the best way forward don't you? Personally I prefer Spotify to which I pay £10 per month for a product that I have used for the past 4 years without any issues.

"Heath Ledger" Was undeniably the best Joker I have seen, he took it to the highest level while encapsulating the DC comic strip character this one looks nothing like the DC comics and too aggressively stylised for me, I remember "Jaws" in "James Bond" who had better looking teeth!! Just my take but like the person to look realistically like the character they are supposed to portray don't you think?

We have a networking managers group who already do this through the LA it does work to some schools advantages especially if they are after certain kit. All in all it does work

@Edu-IT I have a bulk installer for pushing the client install out using PDQ Deploy but one has to manually activate all of them in the online console as they appear and then once activated add them to your client or Server template, that's how I did it, I don't know if anyone else has done it differently? I set my templates up first as a clone of the default one with minor adjustments for both the client and servers, I have 3 templates one for clients, one for Servers and one for our TS servers. They all seem to be working apart from what happened today but I won't let that spoil the party

@pete Yes they do, it has something to do with remote accessing the Postgres SQL database and the AD at the same time utilising the Usermanager UI, it seemed fine for the last couple of months and then wham! It seems the last updates refined the file scanning, been running deepscan so will probably lighten this on the template before I re-install Avast, only affected the DC though as this is where the executable is run from, We will keep trying! God loves a trier

It seems ok on vanilla servers without any other software ontop, I thought it might kick up a fuss on the RM servers but as I said it has been installed on Servers for a couple of months with hardly a ripple until today, anyway nothing too major all sorted again, will test further with different templates. KTF

Hi All, Just a quick update, came in this morning and for some unknown reason after a couple of months of running Avast on the servers with a specific template it seems to have quarantined a specific RM file which relates to the RMMC and this would not allow us to access the user properties in the RMMC, I have removed Avast from this server and re-installed the user manager legacy, until I can guarantee it will not start quarantining other files which are genuine I will not re-install, must have been the latest updates which caused it, Will relay this to Avast but in the meantime the clients seem to be fine, Watch out if you decide to install on Servers keep an eye open Regards Bossman

Just contacted them as to the new offer at £59 instead of £79, answer I have received is that because I am not a new customer I am not entitled to the discount but as I have been a good customer over the last few years they would give me a voucher for £20 which I can spend on anything.................wait for it!!! Except...........Prime haha! So when my trial finishes I will debited by £79 for the year! I think I will cancel my subscription to prime before the end of the trial

@Dos_Box Damn! only just bought an amazon TV firestick last night and signed up for 30 day trial, what Iv'e seen so far is quite good and I would like to change my account but it states £79 when I go into my account and try to change it, no sign of the £20 off?
