It's an HP1020 connected to a 2K3 server usb port and shared with others in the office. All of a sudden it stops printing. Send a test print, the job flashes up in the print queue and then clears but no print. I've reinstalled the drivers disconnected the printer and the next step would be to reboot the server but that will have to wait until tomorrow morning. I'll swap the printer at lunchtime. Anything else I can try without rebooting?

It depends on how you want to edit. If it's just a few cuts and transitions, then I'm sure Power Director will do the job. Anything more sophisticated might be an issue. Video Editors are designed to accept video from cameras, so I'd be very surprised if it didn't accept stuff from a Handycam. If it's a tape based camera, you will need a firewire port, othewise it probably just imports via a usb lead. I don't know if it burns dvds directly but I would imagine it does, as the alternatives do. I'm lucky having a mate who duplicates and prints for me but if I do batches in school, I create an iso and then burn multiple disks in an ICT suite. It doesn't take too long depending on the file size. If I were you, I'd also take a look at Adobe Premiere Elements, which burns a cracking dvd, the educational price is about the same. I'm sure others will recommend equally good (or better) alternatives.

I agree with James, there must be barwork or other partime work in London. Why not go to a computer repair shop, explain the situation and see if they can help? Living at home is probably costing your parents at least £50 a week. Are you entitled to any benefits?

The difference is that most people who work with adults will get support if they come to work feeling poorly. I felt rough last week. I had a really sore throat, headache and felt sick. I was able to hide myself away and a couple of times I had to take a short cut through classrooms to get to the loo. There's no way I could have survived an hour in a classroom trying to teach. Adult workers tend not to get as close up to each other as teachers do with their pupils. That said, if you plan to be off long term, then education is the place to be.
