On my last first aid course two years ago we were told if we didn't fancy, or couldn't due to injury, carry out mouth to mouth, then don't bother. The chest compressions shift enough air. Takes a little while for these things to perculate!

I have to collect my son from Gatwick tomorrow at 6.30am!!! Means leaving home at 4am and hopefully back for work by 9. Does anyone know the Gatwick area and can recommend a filling station close by, where I can fill up and hopefully wait until he has cleared customs so I don't have to pay a fortune in the carpark.

I'm trying to learn Portuguese but it must be one of the hardest European languages. Old dogs and new tricks come to mind. I've decided to do it like a baby learns and concentrate on nouns first. Simply saying "cerveja por favor " should get the message across.

Why did you limit yourself to high schools @adam92h? There are primary schools with a lot of gear and probably a lot less in-house support, who are crying out for help. You could also offer to help out in ICT lessons because often the teachers struggle with the younger ones who need a lot of hand-holding.

I agree but some of the things melodicbrush has said makes me think his glass is half empty rather than half full. I think this view on life can come across at interviews, even if you don't realise it. Make a list of all the good things you have; a roof over your head, good health, not having to walk miles to fetch the water. That sort of thing. Start to think positively and don't get arsey because someone makes a comment you don't like. Just think how many collective years of experience we edugeeker have between us Here's something I would try. Compose a short email offering your IT services free of charge so that you can gain experience to put on your cv. Say that you will do things like clean computers, install hardware, carry out updates, check for malware/viruses; all the things that the IT technician (if they have one) hates doing. Explain your lack of transport and that you would appreciate help getting to and from work. Then get the email addresses of all the local companies you can find using google or the Kelly's directory at your library. Flood the area with emails and I bet you'll get a response. If @witch is willing, ask her to check the email first.

One of our TAs is a self confessed technophobe. Well, that's not strictly true, she likes technology but admits that it always seems to go wrong for her. Yesterday, I was in an ICT suite when she came in with a group of SEN kids. As they logged on, there was a constant stream of "Miss, my computer won't work" and "Miss, the monitor won't come on". You know the stuff. She kept asking me for help and finally we had them all up and running. She uses an egg timer to determine how long the kids get on an activity, she sat down at the desk turned the egg timer over and a few seconds later called me saying "Help, my egg timer has stopped!"

Would that be bat preservation? Can you afford to get a 50cc scooter? It will open the commute distance and also help no end with your road skills.
