Is it possible? I have changed a password on the DC which synchronises correctly, however it seems that you have to wait an unknown amount of time before it syncs to Azure AD. I can view the status, but can't find an option to force it. TIA

Is that a change, or something you've worked with for years? Our documentation has always stipulated 200 hours/year, which is only 5 hours/week. We do exclude people who don't have computer accounts though, such as midday supervisors and cleaners.

I'd try *really* hard not to put anything behind a skirting board especially if there's no electrical fitting to give the poor soul who comes after you a clue that there's something hiding. I'm therefore slightly concerned about what direction the wires to the right of the socket go.... Are there any electrical fittings either vertically above or horizontally in line with the fitting you're removing? At the least, I'd take those cables below the floor to join them.

There's often a setting in BIOS which you can set to turn on the server when power is restored. Most of the UPSs will wait until they are fully recharged before they supply power to their outlets - we once had a faulty one that got stuck in a cycle of restarting every time the power came back on and then promptly sitting down as it detected that there wasn't enough power in the battery. https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA158943/

I go for maximum separation of roles so that I only ever carry the minimum with me: House has back door and single key for garage and shed ("keyed alike" padlock for 3 doors). At home I then have further groups: one for all outside doors, one for windows, one to give to tradesmen.... Does that make me sound a bit obsessive? They're basically MP3 players and the base station is a usb hub. I think you'll need a PC, but if you connect them directly via USB, they should mount as mad storage devices and you could copy files across. Assuming they've been used before, the should be a directory structure which will show you where to put the files. Good luck....

Evidence is mixed, but they can do it when they try. Have you applied for a passport recently? You can do the whole thing on a smartphone, including taking the picture, fill in the details and passport turns up a couple of weeks later. It felt like they'd made actual progress!

I found that the most recent driver you can use with SB580 and SB680 is version 12.2.xxx The 12.5.xxxx which was bundled with 17 that I tried last year didn't work (it sorry of worked, but loads of errors and temperamental). I think we're talking devices rather than licensing here, although for the commonly used Microsoft OVS licensing where you pay per staff FTE and gain licenses for pupil machines, you should note that it only applies to shared computers. Office 365 accounts and web apps are actually free though, so you can make use of 1:1 devices without buying lots of software. Personally, I think it's about time we had 1:1 devices; funding seems to be about £4k/pupil/year for primaries in our region. The Chromebooks I've been buying recently for £200 to £250 are more than adequate. £75 out of £4k send like it should be affordable... Edit: my costing assuming a 3 year device life.

I need my sarcasm marker again - I would agree that MS has its strengths. For the way we work, I can't see Teams being useful any time soon. It works great for office style jobs (not desk bound - it's particularly valuable for mobile workers). Our teachers use a lot of files which don't open natively in Teams, so the workflow when you click on a file is download, then open with, then save as, then delete from downloads. Ironically, installing per user is one of the issues we have, especially the OneDrive client. Also, I should have been clearer - I meant using GSuite File Stream works better in Windows than OneDrive Files on Demand/SharePoint/Teams. But of course YMMV. Overall, yes, I think the systems are mature enough now. Both platforms have their strengths. They're both free for schools, so try them and get someone else to own the decision so that they can justify the choice to staff and you slightly reduce the chances of having to take all of the flack.
